What do you think?

Rose - Keep us posted about your dad. More prayers headed your way.

Penny - Where did you post on the CB? What threads?

Katie - Way cool shave job!

Now there's a phrase I never thought I'd say! :rotfl:

yetch - that really made me a little bit ill  :guilty:

how are you doing with the lifestyle change, wendy? have you lost any more weight and have you been a good girl and stuck with the alli?

not much more time til vacation :woohoo: :woohoo:

tomorrow is my start date for my diet and increase the exercise thing - got to start walking alot more anyway.....gas is too expensive and in the nice weather walking the kids to school will be pleasant :cutie:

I'm doing very well. . .thanks for asking. I have lost just about 20 pounds now. . short of my goal of 15 per month though. I'll take it and if I lose 10 pounds a month that's just fine too. I am still using the alli and plan to continue to use it for another 4 months. . . . except for the week prior to and during our vacation of course. I don't know if alli stays in your system at all, but I'm not taking any chances. Someone here told me they were using it and quit about a week prior to vacation (maybe MF) While I don't plan on stuffing myself with red meat, bacon and greasy food, I am going to enjoy a few things I normally wouldn't touch. I will have a cheeseburger. . or at least 1/2 of one. I most definitely will eat a little pizza and beyond that, I don't know what else might tempt me to taste. I plan to stay away from fried though. . . besides french fries, I never ate much fried food anyway. So I think I'll save my french fry indulgence for the Illinois State Fair in August when I can have Spies fries with vinegar. While it's the "healthy" issue that is most important and motivating for me, the weight loss is part of that and I hope that getting the amount of exercise we will with all the walking, a few not so healthy choices will be offset by that :confused3

I've read most of the menus where we will be dining and I will still make healthier choices most of the time. . .chicken, salads, etc. Oh, I do plan to also indulge in breakfast a few times. I mean besides grape nuts, yogurt, egg whites. . .ya know. That was my favorite meal and I miss hashbrowns and veggie omlets. :lovestruc DH has demanded at least 3 meals at IHOP. . his favorite breakfast restaurant of all times. . . especially when in FL because they have EXCELLENT orange juice.

DH and I both realize that we will have to be pretty careful because we have been eating very healthy since 1/1/08 and by the time we go on vacation, our bodies will likely not be happy with anything else. So, I anticipate lots of food sharing so we can get that taste without any undesirable side effects. Oh, yeah, one other thing we may allow ourselves are some yummy, rich deserts. I think we have 3 or 4 that we are looking forward to. . .but they will be shared as well. Molten Tire at NASCAR Cafe. . . warm chocolate banana gooey cake at Mythos. . . and a visit to the Dessert Lady cafe as recommended by Kelly Monaghan on another thread. I can easily pass on the ice cream and other typical park desserts (oh, wait, did someone say Cinnabon and Starbucks. . )

In June we have a 5 night camping/quad/dirt bike riding trip planned. I am finding it difficult to plan menus for that. Fresh foods don't stay fresh in coolers. . .salad goes bad, broccoli stinks to high heaven, so I'm struggling with that. We do alot of crockpot cooking and we will grill chicken as well. I will definitely miss my veggies though. . . I eat tons and tons of them. Carrots and potatoes survive well . . . and whole, fresh fruit also, but all my green and leafy stuff doesn't go well with camping. So, any campers who have ideas :flower3:

More response than you bargained for, huh. . . :cool2:

Hi all-
Quick fly by.
I can't catch up, sorry.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and good thoughts :goodvibes
Thanks, Penny, for your PM :)

PLEASE keep on praying. My dad is having surgery on his bowels as I am typing. I was just at the hospital a couple of hours ago. My mom was there.
My dad was waiting to go down for x-rays. He was very tired.
When they took my dad down for x-rays, my mom and I went to lunch at the hospital cafeteria. Then I left from there to go home. Actually I had to stop for an errand on my way home.
I got home and my mom calls to tell me they are going to do surgery on my dad right now. I don't know any details other than his bowels are really obstructed. So they are doing bowel obstruction surgery I suppose.

Please keep praying that the surgeon removes everything that is obstructing his bowels and hopefully they won't find any cancer that metastisized (this is my fear).

Not sure if I'll bbl or not.

Thanks, homies for your support :goodvibes

Please know I've been praying for your father, and your family since your post yesterday. . . I'll step it up a notch

rose - so sorry to hear about ur dad, hope the surgery is a success. Perhaps they're doing a "bowel resection?" know my mom had one many years ago & sailed thru it; only issue is smaller intestines = quicker processing time...let us know...fingers crossed.

lori - i luv the pic w/donald duck:thumbsup2 so cute, SSR? (i've never been there lol). Embarrassingly, it was probably me who yanked your chain about WWL hallways...believe i posted a pic of DS in stitch hat goofing in the hallway:laughing:

Kfed - u should get a job moonlighting in barber shop!

wendy - u r trucking right along, u go girl!:yay:

tricia - when the Cabbage Patch monsters 1st came out they were so hard to find; oldest DS was the only one of his buds not to have one (i even had sent his stoopid paternal grandmother out to get one @ ToysRus when i got word of a shipment & the witch kept it for herself:mad: ). On the top of his Xmas list that year, so i bought a pattern & made one of them. Actually, much easier than i thought. Big pain was the hair, each strand out of yarn looped as in a boy's cut...worked on it every lunch hour @ work. Will have to try & find an old picture...anyway, i even forged a birth certificate...not that hard; know there have to be fakes out there.

Let's start...where in the world is DM? 1st hint please!;)

That stinks! Everyone is my house is sick too. . .cept for dd11 and I'm just waiting :rolleyes1

Take care of yourself.

Sooooo. We were supposed to head down south today. Well, we got another snowstorm and DH got stomach flu. Hopefully all will be better tomorrow and we can try. Sure are a lot of sickies!

Just want to let you all know that my dad's surgery is scheduled for tonight, not this afternoon. They had to re-arrange the surgery for tonight for some reason. I'm guessing to get the right surgeon on call who takes care of bowel obstructions pretty well? He is probably in surgery right now, as my mom called me 45 min ago to tell me they were signing surgery papers, getting bloodwork done, etc.
I asked my mom if she needed me to be with her in the surgical waiting room. She said no, she will be fine. So I'm here at home. Waiting for DH to come home from work.
I'll keep you all posted if I hear anything from my mom.

From my fix it and forget it lightly cookbook exactly as printed (below are my comments as we did it)

4 skinless/boneless chicken breasts
4 potatoes
8 carrots
1 onion
4 wedges cabbage
1 can cream of whatever soup/reduced fat
1/2 c. water

Mix water and soup. Slice carrots, potatoes, onions. Layer vegetables in bottom of slowcooker and pour over 1/2 soup mixture. Place chicken on top and pour rest of soup. Set on low for 8 hours.

Here's what we did. . . .added an extra chicken breast, added more potatoes and carrots and used 2 onions. Also used entire medium head of cabbage, which we did wedge. Put cabbage in first, then potatoes and carrots then placed sliced onions on top so they were directly between veggies and chicken. Then put chicken breasts on top (ours were frozen) then poured soup over top, but did not add water. We used cream of chicken soup. On top of that, I put some seasoned salt, pepper and a little garlic powder. Cooked on high for 6 hours since chicken was frozen, then turned to low. Use a large crock pot. . . we ended up splitting ours between two to get it all to fit. We have quite a bit of leftovers for tomorrow.

Chicken was VERY tender as were the veggies. Good flavor and lots of "broth" even without adding the water. Served with salad and applesauce.

In my area, the hospitals, clinics and most doctors are out of the quick strep tests and there was such a demand all of a sudden, they are difficult to get from the supplier. So, everyone is doing cultures and that takes forever.

Hope you get to SC tomorrow!

Hey Homies!
Rose, I'll say a prayer for your dad tonight.

Tricia, Joshua sounds like my Zack...he sometimes wishes that we hadn't had Jacob, but there lots more times that he is glad he has a brother.

Katie, you are so talented! It's hard to imagine doing that freehanded!

I suppose I will tell my bird poop story, since DH is here and can help me with it. Our two boys and our nephew were carrying fanny packs with disposable cameras while on vacation in 2005. We were at Animal Kingdom and discovered that our youngest DS (Jacob) had left his fanny pack in the men's room on the other side of the park. I went with him and he went back in the restroom and retrieved his fanny pack. Meanwhile, DH and the two older boys stayed right past Tarzan Rocks on the bridge taking pictures of the construction for Expedition Everest. While they there they were looking at fish swimming in the water at the bridge. DH looked at Zack (oldest DS) and asked him what was on his shirt....it was bird poop...nephew (Clay) started laughing and then noticed it was on him too....They waited for us to come back and then we all headed to the nearest restroom so that they could clean themselves up. For the rest of the trip, the boys found themselves watching for birds, which was hilarious because it was like they thought that the birds had it in for them. Here's a pic of nephew going into the bathroom...too bad you can't see the bird poop, but we know it was on him.
