Well, THAT explains why you haven't been chatty this weekend... :scratchin Glad so far, so good :thumbsup2 Of course we don't expect it to be an easy thing to do, but it will go okay....You're a good Mom and you are SO on top of things. AND, as long as he doesn't have any seizures....we're good to go! Kids that age are more resilant than we give them credit for

And, the days of tossing a Flintstone at 'em....well, for Joshua they are over...but, keep chuckin' 'em at Daniel. :teeth:

You should see the schedule I made. I wanted to make sure that I had down on a calendar exactly what meds and doses he's supposed to get each day. His doses change every 2 weeks, so I spent a long time yesterday finding a calendar in my Microsoft Office program, filling it out, and printing it. This way, I can cross off each dose of each drug once he gets it every day... AND it is right there in black and white, so if somebody else has to do it... well, I'm just making sure it gets done right.

The Daniel story from last night...

Joshua was setting up his Star Wars action figures and having battles (or whatever goes through his imagination when he's playing). He would get the figures all lined up on the coffee table and then Daniel would come along and swipe them all off with his arm while yelling, "HEE-YAH!"

Daniel thinks he's doing what he sees Joshua do.

Joshua thinks Daniel is a pain in the butt because he won't leave his stuff alone.

I distract Daniel and get him to play with me... building puzzles, which is one of his favorite things right now. As soon as I get Daniel interested in something else, Joshua will call Daniel and ask if he wants to play with him.

I tried to explain to Joshua that he can't have it both ways. Daniel is too young to understand how to play the way Joshua wants to play. SOOOO, he can either let Daniel knock his figures around, OR I will get him to leave him alone. It's tough for Joshua because he wants to play with Daniel, he just doesn't want Daniel to mess with his stuff. :confused3

Poor little guys.

Hey there to Lori, Tricia, Allison, Janet, Mary, DM, Mike, Jennifer, Todd, Wendy, Marcie, Tammy - what are your plans for the weekend??

Today I am going to do absolutely nothing but watch my race. Yesterday was the baseball carnival. I got out of bed 30 minutes ago.

Hey hey...not sure...might check out the SPCA again...a different shelter this time though. Or...I might head to one of the parks for a while. Aquatica opens today but I won't be going there. :rolleyes1

I can’t wait to hear all about it. Are you going to go soon? If so please tell us all about it.

Hey - I have a 31 foot deck, you think if I glued all of them a few feet apart I would be ok??!!??:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I promise I would turn the sprinkler on every now and then to keep them cool :upsidedow :upsidedow

No I say leave them inside and go outside yourself. That way no one can say you are mistreating the kids.

Happy Saturday morning everyone!

Hope everyone got a chance to sleep in and rest up!

Going to look at open houses today...wish us luck!

How did the house hunting go?

Tracie, you are sweet to ask. New guy hasn't started yet. I am not sure what his start date is going to be, but he flat out told me that he's not bringing anything to the team (he doesn't know the technology or systems we're responsible for) AND he told me that he's only "hanging out" at his new place on our team until he can collect social security in 2-3 years. Lovely. And don't get me started how he tried to put a condition on his "employment" with us saying that he couldn't work day tours. I, along with a few other teammates, put the kabosh on that (my manager would've had a mutiny on his hands) If you can't rotate and work all 3 tours, that doesn't fly. Apparently, sitting on your butt and doing nothing while you collect a pay check does. I HATE the RIPs!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, I didn't have a say in whether or not to hire this jerk. (Now, aren't you glad you asked?! )

I'm sorry all. I am going to bed. xx

It is absolutely ridiculous for him to hire the guy and waste the money training him when he has made it clear he is not staying and totally unfair to you to have to do it regardless of the fact they are friends.

Lori - Sorry Mikey's struggling to get his pitching arm back to where it was. It'll come back to him eventually, if he keeps working at it. It sounds like he can be a very resourceful boy, when he puts his mind to it.

Now for me.... Still haven't been to the dr, but I'm improving slowly. My DS is in a play (Arsenic & Old Lace), & last night was opening night. Naturally, I had to be there. I had to take a pillow to sit on. He didn't care, as long as I'm there. I'll be going again tonight & tomorrow, pillow in hand. Sometimes, a mom just has to do what a mom has to do.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Oh yeah he can be very resourceful!

You need to go to the doctor.

I remember doing Arsenic & Old Lace too. It is a great play to do. You are right, all they care is that we are there to support them. Hang in there!

Hi all-
Update on my dad. He is doing well after surgery. He is in ICU since he came back from surgery last night. They took out his ventilator and breathing on his own. He is on ice chips and IVs as usual. Nothing by mouth. He is tired but that is expected. THe nurse taking care of dad today in ICU called me this afternoon to give me an update. Got to talk "nursey talk" with her, as I used to work as an RN few yrs back :)
My mom is there visiting him this afternoon. She said no reason for me to be there since she is there and dad is sleeping most of the time.

Hi to all :wave2:

Thanks for updating us Rose. Still keeping him in my thoughts and prayers.

ma made great progress today, climbed the steps from MIL apt to DR for dinner w/2 canes instead of the walker:yay: ...reminded me of when my kids were little and they took their first steps...guess i'm the mommie now;)

dh made it home an hour late due to the roads...what a mess.

Good for ma! You hang in there.

Glad dh wasn’t too late.

tracie - finally got my case of Landshark:thumbsup2 , guy @ the distributor begged us to open it up so he could see what the bottle looked like:confused3 ; he was convinced it'd have a cool looking shark on it.:lmao: he was so disappointed, then asked what it tasted like...told him to go buy his own lol. fyi, I was told it was $13 @ Sams in MCO, in beautiful balmy Pittsburgh it was more than double...yet a $1 cheaper than Corona. :teacher: Yet another reason to move to Florida...cheap beer.

ps we've gotten less than 40 inches of snow thus far this season, but got a gas bill today in excess of $500 for last month:scared1: (themostat is set on 65 degrees):upsidedow

Woo Hoo, another reason to move to Florida. Like we need another one.

That gas bill is scary! Our electric bill was $396, total electric.

More than $500 for your gas bill:scared1: ....not to mention that you had an electric bill on top of that! I thought my $230 electric bill was bad for last month and I'm all electric! Yes, the south is a great place to live, Florida would be even better for us!

Now how did you manage that?

For those of you who missed what RIP means here, I am not talking about our beloved RIP tours during HHN. RIP is reserved for the old-timers in my group who are "Retired in Place." They think they are entitled to be since they have 30-40 years of "service." My group isn't a good place to do that since if you're late or not doing your job or don't show up when you feel like it, you are screwing someone else. It's not like something will just get done when you get to it. Someone must cover for you, and we have pretty strict requirements around govt reporting, so it's not a good place to "sit back" and relax and let someone else do it. Personally, it drives me crazy, because the RIPs get their first choice of vacation weeks and hog all the holiday weeks AND they get paid more since they've been there longer. (BTW, some of you know RIP #2 better as FUG!). They try to soften the blow by saying, "Someday you'll have 35 years of service and you too can have Christmas week off." Nice. Hopefully IF I ever have 35 years of service, I'll still be doing my job, and by "job" I mean doing more than just showing up.

Sorry for the ranting ... that is only a small portion of what's going on at work right now. I need a vacation. :)

DM, I think I've seen your picture somewhere before. ;) Tracie and I will be stalking you in late April or early May. Be prepared, though I know I don't respond well to Mace. Save that for Tracie. :rotfl2:

So RIP’s are selfish? Sounds like this guy will fit in with them well.

Things were the same work wise at Xerox. If someone didn’t show up everyone suffered. Fortunately we didn’t have a lot of trouble with people not showing up and doing their jobs.

With vacations we picked by seniority, but only one week at a time.

ma's doing a regular lazarus - again...old bird still got some kick to her:flower3: ; i told her to take it sloooow & easy...where's she gotta go in a hurry at this point?

if you add my electric bill to the gas bill, it's more than my mortgage pmt:confused3 February is always the worst

Way to go mom!

Scary electric bill!

How did the carnival go? I am sure you are quite tired....IF you are even still in an upright position

Very successful carnival! And no I was not in an upright position.

MIA

.:lmao: .:lmao:

I don't think I ever mentioned: one year while visiting BIL in Fla, I noticed SIL had a tanning bed...in her BEDROOM! Didn't quite understand why...they owned a gym and had tanning there?? :confused3

To make it easier to tan!

Dear Joshua,
No, you cannot trade Daniel in or send him back. I told everyone for years my little sister was adopted. In 11 or so years, you will appreciate him more when you come in late on Saturday nite and missed curfew and need a good story so Mom and Dad dont realize you were out real late and you dont wanna get the dog barking and the whole house in an uproar and you need him to let you know if he can smell licquor on you or do you need to try one of those mints, or gum , or food to get rid of the smell or Mom will throw a fit and kill you. You will aprreciate him. Believe me.
Also, make sure he lets you know how far down the street to kill the engine and coast into the driveway before sharp ears Dad hears you pulling in. You wanna remember that.
Dad does not miss much.

.:lmao:

Don't worry about ranting...that's what we're for! The RIP's sound like people with "seniority" Yeah..they get the better hours and money..... someday Jodie....someone else you work with will be on a message board complaining about the RIP Jodie! :rolleyes1 :lmao: Oh...and, I DIDN'T know FUG was a rip... :headache: (yeah, we know you'd like to 'rip' him.... ;) )
That’s right!

And, if I have 35 years of service at this company, something will be seriously wrong ... I only plan on working here another 15 years, if I can manage it. Then, this pair of DINKs can retire at 50 with only part time jobs to keep us busy! 15 more years ... 15 more years .... 15 more years ......

And that my friend is a great plan!

Kay kids...I'm beat.

Had a busy day...didn't get home from work till 4ish. Left for Olive Garden and picked up some stuff afterwards....

Got home around 8 and ketchuped like good girl!

12:30am here now....HAPPY SUNDAY...MARCH 2nd....btw....

Catch y'all laters....

Nite Nite!

:cloud9:

And I did not ketchup like a good girl. I was too tired.

Definitely not like her. I went over to her Test thread and she checked in there on Friday. She didn't check in anywhere yesterday that I can find. She's not answering my PMs or emails. Anybody hear anything about power outages in her area?

I emailed her too. Have not heard from her.

I put it off as long as I could, but I finally started Joshua on his new meds yesterday. I wasn't willing to leave it up to anyone else to start him on a new drug, so I couldn't do it when we were in Daytona. Last weekend was our flu bug weekend, so I didn't trust myself to get anything right then. I didn't want to start him on a new drug and then send him off to school, so I waited until this weekend.

The Topamax comes in capsule "sprinkles". You break open the capsule and mix the stuff inside with pudding or yogurt and then he eats it. If he could swallow a pill, it would be much easier... but we've tried that and he chokes/gags every time. We'll try again eventually.

Anyway, no reactions or side effects so far... and I've been watching him like a hawk. He is on a tiny dose at this point and will build to a stronger one. It will be weeks before I start taking him off Dilantin. He won't be on strictly Topamax until the second week of May. It is a long slow process, as these are the kind of meds that have to "build up" in the system and then be "weaned" out. So, we have to build the Topamax up first and then wean the Dilantin out.

What ever happened to the days where I'd toss him a Flintstones chewable vitamin and we were done???

You should see the schedule I made. I wanted to make sure that I had down on a calendar exactly what meds and doses he's supposed to get each day. His doses change every 2 weeks, so I spent a long time yesterday finding a calendar in my Microsoft Office program, filling it out, and printing it. This way, I can cross off each dose of each drug once he gets it every day... AND it is right there in black and white, so if somebody else has to do it... well, I'm just making sure it gets done right.

 You can do it. We are here to help.

My cat hurt himself last night. Poor kitty tried to be too adventerous and ends up with a bleeding paw...:(

He's okay now.

Glad your kitty is okay now. What was he doing that caused him to help himself?

Since your counters are gone, how long till AD comes to visit?

She comes to visit in May, probably Memorial Day weekend.

Garfield (my cat) has been getting outside via the dog door. He jumps into the dog pen, goes outside into the outer pen (which is chainlink) and jumps up and over that. He cut his paw on one of the links.

My turn for a quick fly-by. I'm off to see the last production of this year's play. Barb, Kenny plays Johnathon Brewster (the evil brother). He's already scared the bejeeves out of several people in the audience. I just have to sit back & laugh at my evil son. :rotfl:

I'll probably be busy most of the day. I have guests coming in today. My niece, her friend, & her friend's friend are going to be here all week for their college spring break. I've never met the friend, & my niece hasn't even met the friend's friend. The friend is in med school with my niece in TN. The friend's friend lives in Wisconsin(?), North Dakota(?), or somewhere cold at least. I can't really remember where. (No offense to my homies up north. I know all the states aren't the same. I just have a horrible memory. The only thing I remember was she couldn't wait to get out of the cold weather.) They all kind of invited themselves. I found out about it, when my niece called to get me to look for cheap airfare for them. She had already invited them by then. That's not really unusual though. My sisters have shown up at my door, w/o me knowing they were coming. That's a fun surprise.

I'm off to the play. I'll try to catch up later. Everyone have a great Sunday!

Good afternoon homies just stopping by to say hi and let you all know I am feeling a little better and hope all is well with you all :goodvibes

i'm here.
thanx for caring.

good sunday to all!

funny, we're used to at least 1 or 2 scary gas bills every year:confused3 ; if we'd quit spending all our disposable income on travel & spring for new windows we wouldn't have the problem:rolleyes1 ; we're just grasshoppers i suppose;)

friend of mine bought a used tanning bed, after one month unplugged it; all her daughters friends were using it to get ready for the prom & her electric bill skyrocketed. As i recall she had to have a special electric line put in 220? think she resold it.

Hollywood Tans has you sign a contract wherein you commit to 3 months as I recall direct withdrawal? A brand new salon opened in our area, only problem was with the amount of people using the beds the bulbs soon lost their oomph...and the franchise owner refused to change them:mad: . Only the "upgraded" beds got changed regularly; which base peeps could use but @ a $5 surcharge each time...don't know how they manage to stay in business

it's still raining mom here:laughing: today she showed me a cut on her little pinkie that appeared infected...where did that come from? If you recall, she was hospitalized last fall from cat scratch infection due to them giving her an antibiotic she was allergic too...sigh. Dr. told me then she may just be prone to infections (guess it's common in elderly?) & to call in the future if anything looks iffy again. So shocked he called me back with minutes this am:banana: and she's already on antibiotics...hope she didn't pick up any creepy staph thang in the hospital...turning into a neverending unfortunate series of events...least they seem to be resolving positively.

Tricia - :wizard: your 'lil dude does well on the meds, soon it will probably become routine for your both. Ready for the race? we'll be flippin back & forth between it & the pens game

barb - u lost me on the camera specs:rotfl: ; when u figure it out let me know...didja go out to eat? congrats on conquering the math tables, i find the computer programs very helpful - the ones that trick them into learning:3dglasses have my youngest doing the SAT prep at least once a week

Good afternoon homies just stopping by to say hi and let you all know I am feeling a little better and hope all is well with you all :goodvibes

yeah! try some tea with honey (or jack daniels) you decide!;)

Not only are you a great Mom...you are ORGANIZED too  (to tell ya the truth....I don't blame ya for writing it down...who's gonna remember?) Very smart move there Ma! :thumbsup2

Today I am going to do absolutely nothing but watch my race. Yesterday was the baseball carnival. I got out of bed 30 minutes ago.

 Don't blame you...you've earned that right.... oh, and you were HERE too...so, that's 2 things you're doing today :teeth:

Woo Hoo, another reason to move to Florida. Like we need another one.

Since when did we need ONE?! :confused3

DH's company does the "first come, first serve" deal....so, guess when he requests his late June/early July vacation?? Jan. 2nd! :lmao: Well...he sorta "has" to if he wants to get it....we're always gone over July 4th and a lot of people will want off around it...especially last year and this year where taking a day or two will give ya a long weekend  (have never had a problem getting it approved either....not many peeps are thinkin' about summer vacay;) )

Me? I don't get paid for vacations or time off....so, I get what/when I want :thumbsup2

And I did not ketchup like a good girl. I was too tired.

That's okay  we understand..... You might want to borrow one of Jodie's "free pass thingys" ;)

My cat hurt himself last night. Poor kitty tried to be too adventerous and ends up with a bleeding paw...:(

He's okay now.

Oh your poor kitty! :( I'm glad he's okay....but still....not fun. :sad2:

is the race in vegas today?

who's gonna win?

who's winning in the thread standings?

what bill won't i pay this month to pay my gas bill?

i'm full of it today:goodvibes

That's what happens when YOU live in the warm and the rest of the family lives in colder climate :rolleyes1 I can count on 2 fingers how many times BIL & family have been UP HERE :confused3

Thanks for checking in Mac....Know your son isn't feeling well...hope he's feeling more up to par soon :grouphug:

You're right...you need a 220 electrical line. I can see the teens running up the bill..lookin' for free tan... She should charged to help cover her electric

Wow...musta been a 'cheapskate' owner...surprised the Hollywood namesake let him get away with that :confused3 All beds/booths have "meters" on them so you know when it's time to change the bulbs...granted bulbs aren't cheap, but still  Not unusal to have to 'surcharge' for upgrades either....usually upgrades are a higher pressure bed/booth and use more electric. As for Electronic Funds Transfer...a LOT of places do it...kinda like going a gym/healthclub and then having to pay monthly fee....it's normal...we do it.

Sorry ....didn't mean to 'lose ya' Bottom line...we didn't get it yet, but when we do, I'm sure you'll know! Bubba did have those computer games for the 'education' early on...preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade, etc..... I believe they really helped him with reading...as he has always been very advanced for his age in reading! :thumbsup2

bought my 6 month tanning package yesterday. unlimited minutes per session, unlimited sessions, 180 days at 1 dollar a day, beds and booths. i also love that fact that they are open 7 days a week.
:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

i do it realllllllll slow. 5 minutes first week, then 6 for a week all the way up to 11 or 12- never go more than that, and at that point, not every day, 4 days a week. i dont wanna burn and being so fair skinned, i have a "base" all summer that is not bad.
