Mac - it looked like there were duplicate threads and the mods just locked one of them so it didn't get confusing. I signed in on the unlocked thread! I'll catch you guys all there if not here.

If you can't find me, Mac, please PM me your email. I don't think I have yours, or really, anybody's from the thread. I had Lori's at some point, but think I erased all those emails.

Guess I don't have much to comment on since I'm not a racing fan and don't know about Daytona or Atlanta - think I've been to each a couple times but it's been a LOONNGG time!

And would you believe my wimpy friend cancelled on me AGAIN since it was 21 below zero windchill this morning?! Had to go to the Y instead! It's currently -1 without the windchill, so I'm guessing we won't be going tomorrow morning either!

I'll be working tomorrow (even though I'm "off" on Fridays!) so maybe in the afternoon I'll have a chance to catch up with you all!!

There is this one farm about 5 miles from me. Twice a year he spreads chicken manure on his fields. This has got to be the worst smell ever, I swear, it burns your nostrils. It goes on for days and days.
People call in to the newspapers and police departments complaining. Penny - I bet you can smell it at your house too.

if you are talking about the place with the huge ice cream/cheese/dairy bar down by the road, yes i know.

I'll be coming in from Air Canada so I assume it will be into the international concourse E. Will I just go down to the train from that concourse and go to my next concourse? I am getting a connecting Delta flight to Savannah. Will I have to clear any checkpoints again or can I just go from one concourse to the next. I won't have any luggage to claim.

Coming back I will be arriving on Delta from Savannah and then going to Air Canada to head back to Toronto.

I am hoping that I just have to get out of the plane, go down to the train and go to the concourse for my next flight and go to my gate. I am hoping I don't have to make any sidejaunts to clear any other checkpoints between concourses.

I've made sure that if I miss my next flight, there is another one I can pick up in a few hours.

Okay, last time I flew international back into Atlanta, we were at a T gate. There aren't that many T gates, so you are probably right about the E Concourse.

If you are connecting to Delta, you will most likely be heading to A Concourse (possibly B). That means you will want to take the train as it is a pretty long walk from one end of the building to the other.

When we flew to Mexico City and connected to a flight to Cancun, we had to go through immigration in Mexico City... our first airport inside the new country. We had an hour to make our flight and barely (I mean barely) squeeked on. I would assume that an arriving international flight will have to clear immigration before you board another flight.

The TSA people at Atlanta try to keep things moving. You will have instructions yelled out to any crowd or line many, many times before you reach the point where you have to do whatever they need you to do. I can still hear the x-ray guy, "Please remove your shoes, belt, keys, change..." blah, blah.

I hope that helps. Have you checked www.airwise.com? They usually have really good info on all the airports. But, if your question was, will you have to go through a customs/immigration checkpoint in Atlanta... the answer is probably Yes.

roman meal wheat runs me $3.27 a loaf. i have to shop at Jewel stores which are famous for high prices in chicagoland.....
once wally world 24/7 opens in the spring, i'll do my trading there....

store brand is about $1.90 on sale.
bread is not cheap in our area, either is meat, or eggs, or .....
.

OUCH! I will not complain any more.

you would not believe how many people are audited every year.
not all are called in as they pass the audit.

we have been audited for the last 15 years.
i hear you on the medicals. ours have been so high the last 10 years that blue shield, blue cross cancelled us out due to high cost in 06.

we hooked up with humana under a high deductible plan with mr mac's employer. yea, when we got cancelled out with bsbc, the entire company staff lost their health insurance also.

needless to say, we were not very popular..........

DOUBLE OUCH!

we wait until the last day to mail ours in.
it goes in with a check.
long story on how we do our taxes. claim more than we have for during the year for cash flow and then only claim what we are allowed at filing time.
no interest paid on refunds so we take the money for our use during the year instead of one time refund check.

Same here. I usually monitor ours, do a pretty good prediction of what it will be the next year, and then file & mail in a check on the last day. They are not using my money to run this county in to the ground even farther than they already have.
Read this from the cruise mod:

From WebmasterAlex:

We need to evaluate the effect the "long threads" are having on board performance. In order to do that we will be "hiding" the long threads for 24 hours. They will come back so no need to panic
I will be shutting the boards down around 11pm to move the threads around and make some other changes.
If you are a participant in one of these threads please feel free to start another thread tomorrow.
A long thread will be over 10,000 posts for the purpose of this experiment

WTH? So they change over to knew boards and started having a major problem and now all of a sudden it is because of long threads? You have got to be kidding me. How is that possible?

Long time no see eh?

This is my busy time of the year, DS plays on 2 hockey teams, one is a travel team, so lots of games for me.
I've read back about 10 pages, but I don't have time to respond to everyone. So a big hi to everyone!

I can add my two cents to the milk conversation as I just went to the grocery store on my way home from work today.

store brand skim milk $4.49

store brand whole milk $4.89

loaf of arnold oatnut bread $3.49

Hey Sharon! Missed ya! Hope ds is doing great in his games.

And as I said I will no longer complain about prices here.

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

lori - thought of brauns (bread) not braums:confused:

so we may have to regroup? come find me if i get lost please;)

barb - i'm probably naive/an eternal optimist but, i think everyone (especially the male species in my family) always tells me the truth. It's a deal breaker for me if they deliberately lie to mislead...as i told DH & kids years ago; just tell me the truth. I'm going to find out anyway & there will be twice the hell to pay then.:rolleyes1 We even tend to grant pardons for remorseful confessions.

I will come find you if you get lost. Will even bring some of that ice cream. Guess I better get some dry ice. Will that keep it frozen?

I expect the truth too. Things go much worse if I find out they lied.

nah...you're not naive  We actually expect the truth....trying to beat into his brain: yes, you're most likely in trouble for what you did...HOWEVER, you're in a whole lot LESS trouble for telling the truth (still doesn't excuse what you did wrong tho ;) ) And yes, we make sure to explain the punishment would be less or more depending on truthfulness..... like, instead of losing computer for the weekend, coulda lost it a week! (& that is devastating to Bubba  ) So far, so good.....he tells the truth almost all the time :thumbsup2 ...but I've gotten to the point where I can usually tell he's lying....just by the facial expression :rolleyes1

Don't ya just love it when the face givesit away.

ok,
i will create a new thread later tonight.
will call it:

home for the homies.

we can use that while the experiment is going on and then i'll link them together if a mod allows it.

i think you all have my email address in case you get lost.

if we end of switching to a new "home thread" and i don't see you there,
you will be contacted by one of us on the thread to find your way there.
keisha, i could never leave you...........all of us will find you and take you to the new thread.

if something comes out of the "experiment", we will have a thread in place to replace it if need be. we will all watch for each other as good homies do and regroup. everyone will help accomplish that.

i hope it doesn't go that way.

I'll be there!

Lori - The deal with Mark Martin is this. His contract was with Ginn Racing, which got bought/merged with DEI. He was part of the package. He will still be racing the Army car, it is now however the Number 8 for DEI. He will be running roughly the same schedule he did last year, but sharing the car this time with Almirola. You might remember him from the Busch series last year. He shared a car with Denny Hamlin and got royally pi$$ed when he started a race and was running third, then got pulled during a pit stop when Hamlin finally made it to the track. He asked to be released from his contract after that and DEI picked him up.

Mark is a good guy, a clean driver, and someone that I would like to see win a couple of more races before he fades into the sunset. Why oh WHY did it have to be DEI? :sad2:

Yeas Mark is a good guy. I like to watch him race. I hated that he drove the Viagra car though. Can't imagine what it was like to climb in that car every race. Hmm, mmaybe that is why he "retired" in the first place.

Poor guy. Now he is stuck with Teresa the b!tch.

OK, Guys, I am going to make an attempt to catch up, but the DIS is soooooo slllllooooooowwwwwww tonight, that I fear I will not have the patience.

Yes, but a rectangle is not a square ... Don't ask how I remember that.

Keep us posted on what happens with Ally's teacher!

Will do. Even talked to the oldest dd, who teaches 4th grade, today and she was "absolutely no way is Ally to read books in that age group". Usually she doesn't agree with me when it comes to teaching. :rolleyes1

And, oh, I found another swim diaper stowed in our luggage. So, I split them up and bought them each a set of hoodie towels. It was their first baby gifts! Normally, I am not so thoughtful when it comes to that stuff. I will do just about anything to get out of going to a shower!

That's good. I remember you being concerned because you had known about the cousins baby while in the motherland and got the swim diapers but didn't know about the brother being expectant. Glad you were able to give some to both of them. Sanve some headaches with the brother I'm sure.

Since I saw some things about cows and milk, I have a question for Vegans. Are there any on this thread? I am not being a smart alec; just curious. Why don't vegans do dairy? Does milking the cow hurt it? Does milk "exploit" a cow? I get the meat argument. Sometimes when I watch those videos, I want to put down my filet too (for about 10 seconds).

Well I'm not sure why they don't drink milk and would starve if I didn't have meat, but have you ever seen one of those machines? I wouldn't want something doing that to me! :scared1: :lmao: :rotfl2: :headache: :rotfl: :rolleyes1

home for the homies went thru.

it is now set up as a temporary home for when the dis experiment begins.

yes, pathetic i know.

it would be hard for me to go for 24 hours not talking to the homies here......
so, we are all set for the morning.

hoping fletcher knows where to go for the morning wake up.

wouldn't want him to wake up the wrong group at 5:00 am...........

I would not be happy myself if I couldn't find you guys. Glad you have it taken care of.

Vegans eat nothing that was ever part of an animal... no animal by-product. The egg thing, I guess I could see... but the milk thing baffles me. I guess my dog is not vegan as she will eat a cow pie if I turn her loose in the pasture. I suppose if you wiped a carrot across a cow's back and then tried to serve it to a vegan, it would be incorrect?

I don't get it, but there are a lot of things in this world I don't get.

Did you see Bee Movie? You'd love the whole "bees suing over the exploitation of them for honey" theme. :rotfl:

Yeah, our beagle does that too. Actually every dog we have ever had, except the pom has done that! YUCK!

:surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb:

I have never supported DEI-
I used to root for Mark. Now, no way. I do support Junior a little, but for me personally, it will be Carl Edwards #99.

I still drool over the Kasey Kane commercials. That will not be stopping.

I like Carl too but Jeff is my favorite.

Love the Kasey Kane commercial where the police woman pulls him over and makes him put his hands on the trunk. Great view! :thumbsup2

Hey Marcie have I told you that you are uts for trying to walk in that weather? Really it is dangerous. You should be doing it inside. :flower3:

Evening folks!

So our thread is going down in a little while?? Please keep tabs in case you can't find me....

Tomorrow is Friday people!!! :woohoo:

Have our teacher appreciation luncheon tomorrow. The parents come in and order/make food for all of the staff. It's fantastic. (Last year, they had a chocolate fountain...) :goodvibes

I know I go through US customs in Toronto, so I'm really hoping I don't have to go through it again. When we go down to Orlando or Charlotte, we don't have to go through customs again so I'm really hoping Atlanta is the same.

Do you have to go through any checkpoints to get from one concourse to the other? It looks like Air Canada is Concourse D according to the info on the site. I think that is a good thing! Puts me a little closer to the other concourses.

homies, please help me.

i'm trying to let everyone know that we didn't pay the rent on time and have to move to temporary shelter for a short period....:rolleyes1

Sorry Sharon...I don't know anything about the hotels in Daytona. I would check Travelocity or one of those sites to get an idea.

Thanks anyways - I like Tripadvisor. But there is nothing better than a first hand account from someone you know!

Yes they are. I used to have one when I worked at UVa. My mother thought is was a prop from Star Trek. :rotfl:

Yes...you pass the exits for Monticello, Michie Tavern and Ash Lawn near Charlottesville as well as the Thomas Jefferson Visitor's Center.

Just remember...it's not I-80...it's I-81. ;)

details, details:rolleyes1 when i say shortcut my family groans in unison...always looking for a new, shorter, better way:laughing: .

will state that I-95 past emporia is a dream to drive...hard not to put that pedal to the metal:) and pretend i'm a nascar driver

i was reading a bit of what was goin on.... Some people just shouldn't wear panties....ya know...if they are gonna 'bunch up' :teeth:

That said, i cruised around the DIS a little....something I haven't done in forever, and it seems like quite a few 'mega threads' are missing.... (read one person say 2 megathreads she posted on are gone)....but, i must say.... the DIS IS running MUCH faster

Janet....what did you do to your sig??? Now, I can see 98% of your nanner (just the bottom of his feets cut off) and read all your text :confused3

Well, if you go through US customs before you board the plane, then you shouldn't have to do it again once you land.

The security checkpoint in Atlanta is a huge place in the Main Terminal. There are no security checkpoints that I know of once you are past that and into the Concourses. Of course, I haven't flown international for about 3 years, so I can't guarantee anything... but as far as I know, you shouldn't get strip-searched again once you land. ;)
