Happy New Year!

Looking forward to another lazy day around the house. I tend to work 50+ hours a week, so whenever we get these long holiday weekends, I just crash and enjoy it.

...... After this weekend I will be working every Saturday for "tax season".

Wishing you all a happy, prosperous, healthy 2008!:)

-Jennifer

Rbay! I know your busy season is here....mine just passed....got a breather till March (Easter).....

Happy New Year to you Jennifer and to all the other Universal homies!

Rbay homes..... :thumbsup2

A quick check in before we settle down to watch the Rose Parade. I absolutely love HGTV's coverage. They show you all the floats (what a concept) and tell you all about the flowers and seeds and spices used to make them. It's about the only time I watch HGTV, but they do an excellent job. I don't really get all the names of the stuff used, but I do get a kick out them talking about how many tons of some kind of bean were used to cover a section or whatever.

Brad and I had 3 glasses of champagne each last night. It was enough to give him a good buzz. I never felt it. :confused3 But I enjoyed Brad and his buzz. ;)

Well, I shouldn't say I never felt the champagne. I woke up about 2am with a terrible pain and heartburn. Oh yeah. With me on that Protonix stuff to repair my stomach lining, champagne may not have been a wise consumption choice for me.

HAPPY 2008 EVERYONE!!!

Well....good to hear your New Year started off pretty well Tricia (sorry the bubbly didn't 'agree' with the belly tho :( )

I don't think I've ever watched the Rose Parade (or whatever it's called).... our family always watched the Mummers......but, now that I have a family, they are not so much interested, so, I just have it on and 'putter' around the house.....been preparing and baking/cooking this morning for dinner company. Let me know about anything "interesting" you hear about

Thanks for the New Year wishes and Happy New Year to all of you!

Had to stay up until 2:00 waiting for the youngest to get home. He did pretty good, only 7 minutes late. I was getting ready to call his phone and blast him!

Just got back from Circuit City. Had to return the monitor once again. The first one I didn't like cause it was widescreen. Had this once since Sunday and last night the on/off button fell into the monitor. Ooops, not good. They had one left, but the box was banged up on one corner. eh, I'll give it a try.

Todays the day to take down the tree and pack up all the Christmas stuff. Usually everyone finds somewhere they need to be so they don't have to help me, but we're going to get a big snowstorm today and everyone will be housebound! :lmao: :lmao:

Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable New Years Eve.
Off to put dinner in the crockpot.

What a nice day "stuck" home together :grouphug: Lots of help "de-Christmasing"..... Hope THIS monitor works out for you....never heard of a button falling into the monitor before :confused3 geez.....stuff is so cheaply made anymore :sad2: Could you imagine your DS not having a cell to call him on??? Remember back in the day when we were out driving for the first years...with NO cell phone  How did our folks do it? :sad2: :confused3 I'm glad that when the time is ready, Bubba will have a phone and be 'reachable'...either way ;)

i slept in a bit today

8-12 more inches expeced of the white gold late today and into tonight.

we had 7 inches yesterday. turns out december snow broke lots of records in New England.

hockey live outdoors is at 1pm- may drag mysef out to the store, may not.
my last lazy day.
DH will have to rise at 4 or 5 tomorrow to snowblow
or i wont get to work.

A good day to sleep in :goodvibes ...especially with snow on the ground!! Can't believe you are setting records up there  ...no wonder you're miserable.....BUT, sounds like your cold/infection is better ;) Are you hoping DH gets snowblowin' done...or are you hoping to be 'stuck' at home :rolleyes1

New Year's resolution(s):
-eat at Mythos for the first time
-stay at Universal longerrr
-make the journey to Portofino Bay Hotel to finally see what it looks like in person

Yes...you HAVE to try Mythos...it's very good!!! Do you have a trip planned for that 'stay longer' resolution???? Last summer we stayed 5nights/6days and i promised myself I'd mozy over to the parking garage just to 'see' what it was like if you didn't stay onsite...never made it ....so, I completely understand your 3rd resolution of getting over to PBH & checkin' it out.....

Care to elaborate on the 'something different'??? :rolleyes1

So...our New Years was 'interesting'....

I think we are done hanging out with the same bunch of people every year....going to shoot for something different when it's "our" turn to host....(maybe convince DH to be at UO for NYs :scratchin )

We had 4 couples, our kid, the hosting family's 2 daughters and one of the daughters friends.

We broke into guys vs gals in Pictionary...with 1 couple not participating :confused3 (they are 'poopers' and we're done celebrating NY with them :snooty: [long story]).... well, long story short, we lost 1 guy in the second game and it just got 'ugly' and not fun......

Then, after midnight and the other 2 couples left, we stayed behind and broke out the Guitar Hero ;) Had some fun with that and before I knew it, I was 'losing' Bubba ......it was 2am!! So, we packed up, headed home and got to bed around 2:45am..... I got up and woke the (very unhappy troops) at 9am and started cleaning up and cooking for my company this afternoon.....

So, wanted to drop by and wish everyone a HAPPY NEW 2008...LET'S MAKE IT GREAT... YEAR!!!!!

(before my family arrived this afternoon......)

Have a great day everyone.....and if you're hungover.....drink water! :thumbsup2

:rolleyes1

lori, are you saying you had a new years baby?

well, not today but 23 years ago?

happy birthday to christopher!

Yep! And it was one very icy night too. The whole family complained like
I could have done something about it.

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

:thumbsup2 I'm thinkin you are ready!

Happy New Year!

I love to have time to just laze around the house. Here's to a very quick tax season for you.

One more day to go!

Happy New Year to you Jennifer and to all the other Universal homies!

Happy New Year Todd!

HAPPY 2008 EVERYONE!!!

Sounds like a great way to watch the Rose parade. Maybe I will remember that next year. Glad you had a great evening with Brad.

Maybe you should lay off the champagne until your tummy is better.

Thanks for the New Year wishes and Happy New Year to all of you!

The Washington Capitals (hockey) have a minor league team in Maine that we have season tickets to. Went last night and than out to dinner, was home by 10:00. :upsidedow Had to stay up until 2:00 waiting for the youngest to get home. He did pretty good, only 7 minutes late. I was getting ready to call his phone and blast him!

Good for DS for not being too late. Cell phones are wonderful as long as they answer them. Can't believe you are having so much trouble with that monitor. It's good that the family will be around to help with the undecorating.

Hey neighbor! Where have you been? Those are some great resolutions, the kind that are fun to keep.

Thanks for that information Lori! I never had any clue about the sitting for the kids!

Didn't sleep last night at all....I'm trying something different, the codeine was useless! I don't know how I'm gonna teach tomorrow :headache:

Your welcome. Hope you can find something to help with the pain. Can't believe you are all already going back to school. We don't go bak till next Tuesday.

That's what lost me....$11/hr....uh...no.... I'm cheap and wouldn't pay it (unless in a pinch)...then again, for all they offer AND being "Disney"....I guess it's not a bad price...... :confused3

 Happy Birthday Christopher!!!!
9.gif

Well it is expensive, but if you look at it like a special activity for the kids to do then maybe it isn't so bad. And they get fed too. I have never done it but it is an option for people to have the family vacation yet not bring the kids to the wedding.

Katie - There is, or at least used to be, something called Fairy Godmothers. It is a sitting service from outside of Disney that comes to the hotel room to sit with the kids too. That may be another option.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Chris.

I really liked Mythos myself but the rest of the family did not like it at all. I think they were just trying to be difficult! I bet that is a surprise to everyone.

So...our New Years was 'interesting'....

Wow! I think I would find someone else to hang out with too. I think Christmas & New Years at Universal/Disney with all the homies is a terrific idea!

I just finished baking a birthday cake for Chris. Will be making him home made lasagne for dinner tonight. That was his request.

We had a nice peaceful New Years Eve here at home. Had Madison over so mommy could go out for her first New Years alone. She said she was the designated driver and she didn't have a hangover when she was here earlier so I guess she was a good girl. She has to work tonight so she came to pick Madie up for a while before she has to be at work. Madie was ving such a good time she didn't want to leave.

I hope we all have the most healthy, happy and prosperous year ever. I am so glad I found all my buddies in this box!

Word to the Wise. Do not buy almond champagne that's not from Wilson Creek Winery.

Had some almond champagne last night (I forget where it came from). It wasn't very tasty. :(

But 2008 is here.  I'm looking forward to the Events happening in Feb and Aug. :woohoo: :woohoo:

I'm trying some medication that my sister took when she had her kidney stone....it has Vicodin in it....but its not helping all that much :headache:

I really just want to pass out til my appt. on Thurs.

Hey... it's 11:15 and I'm still awake! I've had 1 glass of champagne so far. Maybe I'll get Brad drunk and take advantage of him... :scratchin

i tried that once, DH hid his wallet

oh, you mean another form of taking advantage:rotfl:

hooray for Carol!

had 1 glass wine spritzer & in bed watching WDW planning video by 12:10 a.m.; always puts me to sleep
barb - we thminks alike:goodvibes what's this about NYE @ Universal?:cool1: keep threatening to spend the week there, much easier & cheaper (no other gifts)

penny i'm taping the hockey game to watch with my working man later after he gets home whilst we stuff ourselves w/kraut & pork roast...no spoilers. Did see the field when i put the tape in, looked very cold.

mac think we're finally getting your crappy weather, 20 degree dip in temps, wind howling and they've forecast between 1 inch & 6 inches of snow overnight:confused3 talk about hedging your bets.lol

everyone else kickin in the new year?

Katie - you definetly need some hugs    and to find some new drugs! It is hard to work when you are not up to par. I can't imagine being a teacher and having to deal with the students when you are not feeling good. Desk jobs are a little easier for that.

Janet - Saw that you were eating pork and sauerkraut. My mom always fixed this for New Year's Day. No one ate the sauerkraut but her and my dad, but we did eat the pork roast. She said you had to eat pork on Jan 1 to bring you good luck for the year. Wishing you good luck in '08.

Barb - find some new friends. How can anybody not want to play pictionary if everyone else is playing. Good grief - it's just for fun. (by the way, I am the worst artist, so this is not one of my fav games, but I would not be the party poooper.)

Well the snow isn't here yet - I guess I will have to think about fixing supper. Hubby usually cooks as I get home much later. If I cook tonight, at least I can say I fixed supper once in '08.:lmao:

-Jennifer-

Yep! And it was one very icy night too. The whole family complained like

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Well....duh!! You are in some major pain and THEY complain....greeeaaattttt :headache:

Okay...first, I wouldn't drink almond champagne in the first place, but thanks. Second, I'm guessing a trip w/ Ad next month and August is the big move to Colorado..... and, this week my friend who moved from PA to Gainsville, FL to Colorado will be here for a visit. She said aside from the weather, she likes it. The people are all very nice there...she is actually amazed at how nice people are there....(not saying much for FL peeps...but then again, she don't know the FL residents that are homies :thumbsup2 )

barb - we thminks alike:goodvibes what's this about NYE @ Universal?:cool1: keep threatening to spend the week there, much easier & cheaper (no other gifts)

Here's a thought...when you see dentist again, ask him for some painkillers to keep at home in case this happens again.... dr. in ER did it for DH when he had a kidney stone.... just a few 'spares' :thumbsup2

I guess I will have to think about fixing supper. Hubby usually cooks as I get home much later. If I cook tonight, at least I can say I fixed supper once in '08.:lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: you go girl :thumbsup2

jennifer - it's a tradition & for good luck;) ; same as having a non-family male peep be the 1st in the door:rotfl: not that im superstitous or anything. I'm a irish-hunky:banana: ; 2nd generation; paternal grandparents had a wooden barrel of kraut going in the basement @ all times - i luvs it. Make do with cooking sno-floss for 8 or so hours till it gets just sweet/brown enough. DH won't eat the pork roast; will choke down a hot dog to keep the peace.

did i miss lori's bd:eek: ? crap on a cracker (some DISer used to say that all he time - cannot remember?) on laptop lame attempt @ wish
:dance3: :yay: Happy Birthday!!!!:cheer2:

barb - price it out & let me know what you come up with, i'll file it away for the future. My DS gets fri & mon off for MLK day (nearly all white school district-go figure); unfortunately the buttheads that be schedule midterms the week prior & standardized tests the following week. A good waste of potential great vacation scheduling.:rolleyes1 think my brain is vacation slot hardwired

we too are having pork tonight- chops that is.

the hockey game was good.
:goodvibes

looks like no school around here tomorrow- they are saying minimum 12 inches closer to 18 in some spots.
:scared:

my nephews are just a jumpin' with joy.

The traditional New Year's dinner around here is black eyed peas and collard greens... usually with a pork roast. The black eyed peas are for luck in the new year. The collard greens are for prosperity in the new year. The pork, as far as I know, is just because it goes well with black eyed peas and greens.

The boys did not make it until midnight last night. They had reached the spastic point by 9:45, so at 10pm I called for bedtime.

We are still knee deep in prep for the trip mode. We went to the grocery store earlier to stock up on snacks and drinks for the car. I keep trying to get my list of things to do straight in my head, but I don't feel like I've got it all together yet.

Todd, I'm guessing from your avatar this week that you are in pain over that football game. :sad2:

wait...we have to wait another year for a nerdy joke?? :confused3 :headache:

uh.....you and wife were not together at midnight?? :confused3

nope the saint was alone on nye's last night.
don't ask me how i know, i just know...... :rolleyes1

drink water and take aspirin............that's what mr mac does.
he says it works for him.

i can tell nerdy jokes again if you really need to hear them.....:rolleyes1

i say ditch those losers, don't give them an invite next year for the nye party.

i'm waiting for the dirt on why the dude pouted and stopped playing the game......::yes:: :listen:

i tried that once, DH hid his wallet

vitamin V is what i take for dental pain.
double the dose and you'll be fine.

is everyone here German?
janet is irish but she ate the kraut stuff.
we used to do all the ethnic foods at one time but not today.

did middle eastern and indian food........it's all ready to gobble down now.
hey, that is an ethnic food also.....well, i'll be a monkey's uncle.

that was tara that said crap on a cracker janet.
she was one on our team in the big W disaster.
she's one of the limers

Brad just brought me a glass of wine.

I didn't ask for a glass of wine. He just walked in and shoved it in my hand.

I wonder if he's trying to tell me something? :confused3

Barb - I've been mulling it over, but I just can't get a visual. How does a game of Pictionary turn ugly? I mean, I'm terrible at drawing. Seriously. Carol is usually my partner. She's worse than I am. It's funny. I mean, we enjoy how bad we are. If either one of us looks down at the paper an realizes the other is trying to draw an animal, we'll always say, "Oh, crap. It's an animal. Horse, cow, pig, donkey, chicken..." because the way we draw, it could be anything so just start guessing. :rotfl:

Anyway, I used to have a group of friends that we always got together for New Years. Eventually, we stopped. It wasn't really a conscious decision, it's just that where we are in our life and where they are in theirs isn't exactly the same anymore. We still see the old group... one at a time or as couples... at different times over the year, but the gather everyone up for a party days are over.

Barb: If I feel pain after Thurs., my dentist will be feeling even more believe me.....

Took a nap and for a while felt better, but now I'm in agony...

Sorry to complain so much but there is nothing I can do and I hate the feeling!!

Hitting up the meds again so let's pray!!

Tricia: You never know, maybe Brad wants another crack at New Year's!! ;)

You have every right to complain. There is nothing worse than pain like that when you can't escape it. I hope they find the CAUSE this time and fix it so you don't have to go through this anymore.
