Evening everyone!

Well went the city and had a fabulous time! Will get to that in a bit (with pics) :thumbsup2

But ended on a sour note. A friend and former coworker passed away on Friday from cancer. She was 77. When I was a lifeguard, she was our gatekeeper (she checked the badges as people entered the pool). One of the things the guards would love to do is sit and chat with Ines on our lunch breaks. She was a feisty Italian who loved talking about food and good times. Her husband had passed a number of years ago, and lived with her brother, who passed 3 years ago.

Well she had lung cancer and leukemia which she disclosed to us at the end of her "career." But even still, she always loved the young people and chatting with any soul who needed it. She was like a therapist to the workers and patrons. I actually hadn't felt upset until now and I can feel the tears welling up (and I'm not an emotional person).

Just wanted to take a minute to reflect and to seriously appreciate what we have.

We turned an unused room into his Lego room years ago. DH even built him a table with a rim around the edge and the top is covered in base plates. .....Now, if only he could keep his bedroom clean!

Maybe you should dump all his Legos in his room?

We used to own a 68 (or was it 69?) Mustang....will have to have DH scan pix so I can post them....

Am i in the club now too? :hyper:

can i be in the club too if i say i spent past time in those fantastic cars?
i never owned them, just enjoyed them.

This is my ultimate dream car....A 1979 Lincoln Mark V Collector's Edition. I want one that's totally originally and unrestored. What do you think?

I think there's a "rule" that you have to be old enuf to collect social security to own one... :rolleyes1

K-Fish - it sounds like she was a wonderful person. I admire people like her that can make friends so easily.
Looking forward to your pics.

At least I don't have to go over my house with a magnifying glass like I do after Karen has been for a visit. I have never had her inside my house where I didn't find a pill of some variety after they leave.

I have small children for criminy sakes. Keep your prescription drug habit the hades outta my house!

She has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. What "stress" caused this "disorder", I haven't a clue. She also has a long list of other crap she's been diagnosed with. In other words, when the attention and excitement from the current problem fades away, she comes up with another one. :sad2:

I am glad today was a fun, complication free day. Now, I just have to convince my boys that it really is bedtime so I can collapse. :faint:

What a difference 24 hours makes.... poor Brad :rotfl:

Ya know...I'd thought you'd have the wine after company...not before... :confused3

I can't believe she would be SO careless about her pills around kids...duh...they think anything small like that is candy! She's an idiot! No wonder you stress when you think she'll be around. I'd stop her at the door and confiscate her drugs and have her come to me for them while she was in my home.... (kinda like taking a drunk's keys).... hey MY home, MY kids, MY rulz :snooty:

But...glad all's well that ends well!

i watched it.

i think he did great!

was he wearing a ponytail band on his left ankle?

I always get this email a few times during December. It makes me laugh every year...

It's the BEST Christmas Cookie recipe EVER!
Feliz Navidad Christmas Cookies

1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
Lemon juice
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
1 bottle Jose Cuervo 151 Tequila

Sample the Cuervo to check quality.
Take a large bowl, and check the Cuervo again to be sure it is of the highest
quality, pour one level cup and drink.
Turn on the electric mixer.
Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point it's best to make sure the
Cuervo is still OK, try another cup just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy.
Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit,
Pick the frigging fruit off floor.
Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it
loose with a drewscriver.
Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity.
Next, sift two cups of salt, or something.
Check the Jose Cuervo again jush in case.
Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
Add one table.
Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.
Greash the oven.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.
Don't forget to beat off the turner.
Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Cose Juervo and
make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

CHERRY MISTMAS

Follow-up:

I jesh made theesh. S'veddy veddy gud. Ashually, I think I started theshe lash year. Shtill waiting for the oven to be done. How long do cookiesh take at 71 deg? 352 daysh not enough. Meanwhile, Jose Curvo is goo-oo-ood friend waiting for the chrismass cookies with me. Will get back when ... darn, my glass is leaking! Need miracle cloth to round it up - hold on.

Merry Navidad to all.

Tip for all trying to remodel their fridge. Wine fridge more useful than oven, hot fire-thingy or fast-heater radiation noissy rotating plate doo-hicky. can't cook without good alcohol. And with good coold alcohol, cooking not neckessary.

:scratchin ....dare I try this recipe

No, it's the leash holding it so the surfboard doesn't get away from you. I'll try to have DH post one of me surfing sometime!

tricia, i know someone that has ptsd.

but there comes a time when you do have to let things go.

On a similar note, though, my coworker's DH was out of town the weekend we got the 8 inches of snow. He assured her the snowblower was all set to go and he'd checked it out. She tried it that weekend, it went down the driveway once and stopped. She tried restarting it several times and called him. He told her to let it sit and try it a bit later. She did and it still didn't start. He called her, slightly panicky, and suddenly suggested she put oil in it. She asked if he'd drained the oil in the spring, and he said yes. Took it to the shop and the engine was totally burned out. Cost to replace engine as much as replacing snowblower - in the $800 range! She was not happy!

Although I give, what's DBUI? :confused3 Sorry, guess I'm just clueless! (And blond!)

That story is  Yes, it sux, but, still....funny..... Typical man...."i got it all ready for ya".... :rolleyes2 brother......

Oh, and glad Sharon filled you in :thumbsup2

Well onto more uplifting stuff!

This is gonna be my super tiny itsy bitsy really short TR to NYC this morning!

Well I got up at 7:30ish and dressed in a flash because I was leaving around 7:45 to catch the train at 8:03 am. The DF and his bro were picking me up.

Well train ride...boring, boring, and we get to Penn Station.

We find DF's parents, who were meeting us there and grab some Dunkin Donuts. mmmmmm

Then we proceed to Macy's and see this guy!
ShrekMacys.jpg

Well we look around and stop up to get a glimpse of Santa. There is no way that we are going to wait on that line for a pic. I tried to snap one through the glass but it didn't work!

Then we started walking back down to exit and saw this:
NewYearsBall1.jpg

It's the ball they drop on New Year's!
