Growing up there were 4 kids in our family. We were the old-fashioned family with same mom, same dad. And I remember my mom making sure she spent the same amount of money on each of us, as well as having the same number of presents. She did this so no one could say favortism. This has always stuck with me.

It's been hard with my two kids. They are 7 years apart in age. Amanda had to accept that as she got older she would have less gifts than James as the things she wanted were more expensive than the toys James still liked. Now, at 24 and 17, things have kinda evened out. I try to spend the same amount on each of them, some years one might get 5 gifts and the other 10. This year Amanda fell in love with a wool coat at Macy's that she could'nt afford. So I bought it for her and she was fine with getting fewer gifts.

This would be my pile from DH.....

Barb - all your presents have the same wrapping paper?!? Does each person get there own paper?

I could use that computer chair. Mine does not go up or down anymore. The new monitor I got is taller than the old one and I need to raise the chair. DH told me to get a cushion.

Sounds like my 2 DS's they are 5 years apart 16 and 11 and this year the 16 got some calone and jeans and shirts cause thats all he wanted and the 11 got remote controlled truck and other toys and he complained that he got less until we explained his cost a whole lot more.
so a big:headache: until he figured it out.:rotfl2:

By the way the Holidays is the worst time to figure out that you are allergic to some spices in the food you make and its too late and you break out in hives and itchy and watery eyes.:lmao: :lmao: not really funny but had to learn the hard way I guess:rolleyes1

Oh nooo, did this happen to you, DW or the kids? What spice was it?

Tricia that card brought tears to my eyes. Who needs gifts when you get a card like that!

Yeah, I don't miss the stuff. Brad knows the value of a good card and heartfelt message.

I remember when we were dating, I used to tell my friends that he was unreal. As in, he would do and say stuff that I thought guys only did or said in movies or tv... not real life. It doesn't happen as often now as it did when we were dating, but he still gives me a good heart squeeze every now and then. :goodvibes

Happened to me and believe it was the cloves we put on the ham we made and never happened before but this time it got me good but doing better now just have to leave the leftover ham alone.

Here's one of the gifts I got. I love tea, and DD bought me a sampler of loose teas with an infuser that fits inside a mug. Pretty cool!

Yikes, that's no fun. Your not suppossed to eat the cloves !!! :lmao:
Hope it didn't ruin your Christmas.

No I didn't eat any I don't think so:confused3 samething DW ask and told her nope just ate the ham and few minutes later started itching and breaking out.

we don't celebrate unless we all are home together.

i'm going to church now.
got your backs covered for the week.

barb, those pics are adorable but i am worried that the baby will fall off that little tricycle.......

wow....you really made a haul. i counted those boxes.

firstly, i agree...you celebrate together....that is what the holiday is all about...being happy and with the ones you love :grouphug: (or, in Lori's case...the ones you can "stand" ;) )

secondly, thanks for having my back....i stay home and put my wishes into the big Man (don't have to get all 'dressed up' then  )

thirdly, Lucas (the baby) wasn't going far...he wouldn't move! ha! plus, I was there, and DH...not to mention Grandma and Pa and Mom..... (we thot he was going to a couple of times, but Mom was right there... believe me...I wouldn't let him do that if someone wasn't going to be right there to catch him if he were falling :thumbsup2 )

fourthly....those boxes MAKE it look better than actually is! See, DH can't wrap something if it's not 'square' or 'rectangular'...meaning, everything goes in a box :rotfl: .....so, while 'impressive looking'..... it was the usual..... (he came up with a 'theme' this year, and i got a lot of things to keep me warm while watching the outdoor soccer games ;) )

Barb - Ryan looks excited once he remembered it was Christmas! That's a great shot of his expression on the way down the stairs. Santa did good!

It looks like Santa DH was good to you too. Brad & I don't exchange gifts anymore. We spend all the money we have on the boys. Maybe someday when we have spare cash... but for now, this is the only gift I got from Brad:

BradCard.jpg

What a beautiful card..... (Dontcha love when the write the personal stuff in them???) I got a similar card...each year DH tries to pick out a card to make me cry.... :headache: (He's usually successful each year too :rolleyes1 )

;)

Glad I don't have the 'more than 1 kid' problem.....don't have to worry about "how many to open" and "how much spent" ....phew! Glad for the one :thumbsup2
Regarding the wrap....the "Hot Wheels" wrapping paper from Santa was the only paper I had that Ry hadn't seen :rolleyes1 All the other paper he already saw....so, had to use that. As for my gifts..... that is just DH being lazy and uncreative while wrapping my stuff :rotfl2: (he'll tell ya so, cuz our neighbor was here and commented on the same thing! )

And, if you think you can wrestle my blackbelt son off his chair...by all means...it's all yours ;) Good luck tho ....... (you'll need it!)

That is a shame to ruin your meal and find out the hard way....well, guess there'll be no more cloves on your hammies from now on..huh?? Glad you didn't have any 'breathing' problems....just 'topical'.....

Here's one of the gifts I got. I love tea, and DD bought me a sampler of loose teas with an infuser that fits inside a mug. Pretty cool!

I think that is a great gift....even with the infuser....very cool!! A 'sampler' of almost anything is a good gift at Christmas! ;)

I had one of them while dating too  I thought he was feeding me lines of bull, but he was serious! His momma raised him right....a gentleman...even to this day after all these years of dating/marriage...he still opens the doors for me and pulls my chair out at restaurants, etc....

Sounds like we gots the cream of the crop Tricia! :thumbsup2

LOL thats what I told DW that the next ham we do will make some kinda glaze for it and I give thanks that I had no breathing problems from.
