Hi all. Haven't stopped by in awhile because my Mom is in the hospital. She is obese and has alot of health problems. Right now she has gangrene in her foot, as well as MRSA. Unfortunately, I can't go visit her because I am taking immuno-suppresant drugs right now. It is really hard to take care of my 87 year old grandmother and deal with Mom's doctors over the phone. Especially when I keep getting different stories from different people. My Mom called me earlier this week upset because they want to shelve her away in a nursing home. She is only 63. Since I have been through this with her before, I talked to the social worker about this. The social worker is more interested in getting her out of the hospital and turning over her social security check than she is my mother's well being. The LPN also says that she has to be out by Saturday (today) and into the nursing home. When the MD finally contacts me, she tells me that this is a battle with hospital administration. She does not believe my mother needs a nursing home. She has to have a drip IV for the next month, but Mom can walk and generally take care of herself. The MD wants her to stay in the hospital not only to medicate her IV, but also because she is on a 400 calorie a day diet to kick-start her new weight loss program. I hate all of the red tape BS when dealing with hospitals. Anyway, I have spent wayyyy to much time on the phone. Luckily, we have alot of minutes on our cell plan.
Work has also been insanely busy. When it rains, it pours.
Anyway, I hope I have things back on track and can keep up here. My
HHN trip has been firmed up for the last week of October, and I am sooo ready for a vacation.
