Thanks, Lori! And as long as it's not my husband mispelling my name, I just don't care at all. It's not your fault my parents picked an odd spelling. I got xrays and a prescription for an anti-inflammatory, and I'm seeing an orthopedist on Friday. So far, so good. The Dr. says it's probably a build up of scar tissue that's limiting the mobility and causing the pain. So it won't kill me to wait until after vacation if I need surgery.

So how do you spell it? I want to do it right.

It sounds like your shoulder has the same problem Mikey's ended up being. The doctor said it ended up just being a bunch of scar tissue from inflamation. We went from thinking he would be in a sling for 6 weeks and not able to do anything for 6 months to being out of the sling in 2 days and completely released in 6 weeks.

I hope you have the same results.

I have a question for the Disney knowledgable...okay that probably is not spelt right but hey I felt like using a BIG word!!!:lmao:

I just talked to my brother in law and he and his wife got their family of 5 a 4 night stay ay Disney and 3 night cruise!!! The kicker is he also got the dining plan BUT knows NOTHING about ADR's...oh ya did I mention they are going January 3rd!!!:scared1:

Where should I suggest they eat? The kids are 8,9 & 12???

I must come to their rescue...meaning you must rescue me first!!:worship:

Thanks bunches!!!

First, find out what kind of dining experiences they want. Character meals? Table service? Counter service? Something interactive or a show?

There are so many options, it is hard to just say "eat here". Booking at this late date might be tricky, but January after New Years is a pretty slow time.

Also, which DP are they on? Standard? Deluxe? Premium? Quick Service? That will narrow down the choices too.

Thanks Tricia!!!::goodvibes

I believe they are on the Standard Plan. My brother in law just goes with the flow but NOT ME!!!! How can you go to DISNEY and not know where to eat???:confused3

That is all I know...they are staying at The Carribean Beach Resort I believe???

It's spelled Tamie. Or Spaz, whichever fits your mood. I kinda like the spelling EMPRESS, too. But Macadamia is one of my favorite spellings. So many choices, it's like choosing restaurants in Orlando and only a day to eat....

I hope my visit to the orthopedist is as good as your husband's was! Fingers and toes crossed. And eyes. We must never forget the crossed eyes. :3dglasses

Tricia, there will be no maiming of Homies.

Unless you turn out to be evil. pirate:
But that would have shown by now, I'm sure.

Morning all! :teeth:

:scared1: Looked at your time of posting--I'm hitting my snooze button for the next 30 minutes at that point:confused3

Just not a morning person....:sad2:

Didn't help that DD13 couldn't get to sleep so he barged in my room last night and I told him to get in...he's 5'5" and my DH is 6'2"...we have a queen bed...I'm in the middle...you get the picture...I now look like a pancake this morning with raccoon eyes:laughing:

Gotta do the Sam's run to get some basics today, then go buy some gift certificates for the electricians under my DH--I'm thinking Outback so I can get the $20 gift card for me for every $100 certificates I buy.

Anyone know of any other franchise out there doing something similar before I take off?

Red Robin does ($5 for every $25 you buy). We bought $300 worth and eat there throughout the year and use them as gift cards for teachers, etc. So I got $60 in free money for a couple meals for us in Jan or Feb as well. I'm pretty sure I saw it at Applebees when I was there too. Also Olga's or bd's Mongolian BBQ if you have those in your area (I know they're regional).

On a different note - UGH!!! My kids' bus was 22 minutes late today. This wouldn't matter as much if it weren't currently NEGATIVE 9 degrees out, with a wind chill of -25! You know when the weather channel has warnings that frostbite can occur in 30 minutes on exposed skin, the buses really shouldn't be running that late. Especially since the kids are supposed to be out there 5 minutes early.

My kids are lucky because from our back doorwall we can see the bus coming to the prior stop, and they have time to run out to the corner before it gets to theirs. But I kept looking out and seeing kids standing there and standing there at both stops. I did call the bus line when it was about 15 minutes late and was told "it's running late" :confused3  (Is there a DUH smiley?).

Off to the orthodontist! Keep warm!

Okay - Mac, Lori and Janet are going to do a LOT better at answering this than I will. They know the DDP thing and have eaten at most of the restaurants, where I do mostly CS. I'm on the run this morning, but I will be back to list where I would eat and where I would avoid. I can give you a good list of Character meals and Counter Service spots. :goodvibes

THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
This is soooo much appreciated!!!;)
Everyone always runs to me when they need help with something!!!

About 20+ years ago, my brother got married up in Keishadow's neck of the woods and had the "BEST POLKA" band in PA.

I was 18 (laws were you had to be 18 to drink back then) and trust me you needed some beer. Besides who can drink the Beer Barrel Polka w/o some?

:dance3: it's the law...if u live in the 'burg u must polka...wierd al IS considered a rock star here:)

never wiser words written:

in heaven there is no beer...that's why we drink it here
I have baked an army of gingerbread men. I'm not sure why, since I don't even like gingerbread cookies. I usually don't cook what I won't eat. I think I must be under some Christmas-induced hypnosis.

hmmm...army of gingerbread men...would that be considered unlawful assembly:laughing:

run, gingy, run[/I]

Hey all! I finally got my list of the places I wanna get ADR's at, now to hop their available! Anywho, weather finally warmed up here (if you call the 40's warm). It was foggy/misty all day today. Oh well!

u know we want to hear ur listpopcorn:: we live for this stuff

nice of u to help them, sounds like they need it;)

buy him either the Passporter or Unofficial Guide to WDW (both have a small section on DCL also) & tell him to read it...imo main reason have a crappy time is because they didn't do the necessary planning...@ the very least go to the menus on allears & check out what they offer....that said

2 kids under 10, cheaper on the plan;yet really limits their choices on the TS menus...if they have any sort of grown up palate (think non burger/chicken nuggets:scared: ); i'd stick to charactar buffets where they can select anything

tinker-hey, empress is spoken for:snooty: there can only be one:upsidedow jk

hope ur appt goes well too, no fun to be feeling poorly

marci when u mention ur family, i think of the lime green shirt pic; even though they won't go with the program now...u'll always have the pic...pull it out when they meet 'the one' (hey, it's how i roll). my DSs are escaping the disney fold (natural when they get to a certain age)...they'll be backpopcorn::

have a good day all

Thanks--Applebees is right beside Eat N Park that has a great gluten free menu for us--I called and they have the same deal. Yeah!

And thanks for the remark about the ortho--my DD missed hers last week and I forgot to reschedule. Will do it right now.

I kind of wondered about the "empress" thing when addressing your Christmas card! :rotfl2:

DS16 (Matt) was already with his girlfriend when we went to Disney last year and took all those lime green pics. We went to the effort of downloading a bunch of pics onto the computer while we were there, loading them onto Walgreen's site, ordering and paying for pics so she could go over and pick them up and have cute pics of her BF off on vacation. And all she did was make fun of his matching shirt, floppy hat, and fanny pack! :sad2: :snooty: Not a good way to win brownie point with mom (me!).

Glad Applebees worked out for you. We ate there last week and I actually thought about you when I saw the little "gluten free" logos next to some of the items. (Think it was an ear of corn with a slash through it!).

Sort of frustrated with the ortho because my son has to go back in 4 months (he just has a retainer now since he got his braces off in Sept). We're scheduling in late APRIL and I ask if they can do any appointments any time in the morning any day, or any time on Friday and they tell me no. :confused3 What the heck? We left it at they'll send me a card a month out and I can call and see if they have anything then. Why do I feel that it's unlikely if they have any appt's 4 months out that they'll have any 1 month out? :confused3

DD had her braces on for 4 years--got them off in June and got the really nice plastic retainer that you can barely see. THEN he saw that her wisdom teeth were coming in and messing everything up. So now she has the oldfashioned ugly pink with a wire one--she barely wore it at 1st until he threatened to put the braces back on:rotfl2:

luckily, he's not charging extra for all of this:thumbsup2

Crazy day here, but I'm back. Restaurants. I don't do DDP, so if some of these aren't on the plan somebody make sure to point that out... okay?

MK -

For a character meal, my favorite is the Crystal Palace. You can have any meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) with Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger. It is a buffet with a lot of choices. CS here that I like are Columbia Harbour House, Cosmic Rays, Pecos Bills and Aunt Pollys (but it probably won't be open in January). CS here that I would avoid are Pinocchio Village Haus or pretty much anywhere in Fantasyland. I have yet to eat good food in Fantasyland, and I am by no means a picky eater. TS I have enjoyed would be Tony's Town Square Restaurant and Liberty Tree Tavern.

Epcot -

For a character meal, we enjoyed the Garden Grill for lunch... oh, wait... didn't they stop the lunch with Mickey there? The food was good if you enjoy family style service. I don't know that I would eat there just for the food, since we were there mostly to see Mickey. CS here that I like are Sunshine Seasons (the best CS in WDW in my opinion), Liberty Inn, and the CS place in Norway has good sandwiches. The only CS here that I would avoid is the place in Japan. TS I have enjoyed would be Coral Reef (but it has been a couple of years since I've been), San Angel Inn (as much for the atmosphere as for the meal, lovely spot for lunch), and Le Cellier (but I'm not sure if Canadians would want to go to the Disney version of a Canadian steakhouse?).

DHS -

CS here that I like are Backlot Express and Studio Catering Company. CS here that I would avoid are ABC Commissary and Pizza Planet. TS I have enjoyed would be Sci Fi Dine In (another one for the atmosphere) and Brown Derby.

AK -

For a character meal, we enjoyed the breakfast at Tusker House with Donald, Daisy, Mickey and Goofy. It is a buffet with some standard and some unusual choices. CS here that I like are Flame Tree Barbeque (right up there with the Sunshine Seasons) and Restaurantosaurus (mainly because it is the only other CS that serves chicken, which is the only meat one of my sons will eat). I haven't eaten enough to have put anywhere on my "don't go there" list. The only TS meal I've ever had here was at Rainforest Cafe, which is a chain so it is the same no matter which one you go to.

I'm sure somebody can give you more/better lists, but that's mine. :)
