Something About Nothing............ #14

Good Monday morning from a very beautiful and mild Scottish morning!

Had a wonderful weekend, mum’s celebration was fabulous, we all had such a lovely time and yes, she was queen for the day.

Heading home soon but we managed some gorgeous early morning pics of my favourite place in the UK!

First one is from our room, then we went on the beach, the light changes constantly so the island looks different in almost every picture.

Hope your Monday is a good one :sunny::sunny::sunny:

Charade, great pictures and what a fun report for your short visit. Thanks for sharing. Glad the return flights were timely and hopefully you booked a bounce back. Funny, we were at FQ in February, and in the 6 building the second floor. We liked our room, as was right near a set of stairs. Was construction going on in the building, as well as on 7 next to it when we were there. Did you take the boat to DS? We did one time. It starts at PO, so when busy, not many seats left by the time it got to FQ. This fall, we are at CB, booked as a bounce back, as was a little cheaper than military rate. Agree, the moderates are generally nicer than the all star budget ones, and the now not so budget two with sky flying. Sigh, used to get Pop at a hundred even or less. If I’m going to pay that much for Pop, CB can be just as cheap. And then, nicer hotel, and one less route to make to get to those two budget ones.

Ugh, at least it felt warm. Was raining enough heard a steady swish of my windshield wipers as I commuted in a very dark sky, and on very wet roads. But quiet it always is, as like today, no other cars until got close to the city.

Monday feeling it is. Was up just before the alarm went off. DH was awake too, but I’m pretty sure he went back to sleep, as when got out of shower, I thought I heard him snoring. Yawning already, and office feels a bit cool. Have to hug that tea mug.

Marvelous Monday to all. And a very green one.

hopefully you booked a bounce back
I have an offer, but don’t know if we will take advantage of it. Dh wants to go back for the after hours events. The only tome we can do that is June or July and I don’t know if I can stand a Florida summer.

Did you take the boat to DS?
We took the boat from French Quarter to Riverside and then from Riverside to DS and then back to FQ. A lot of people were taking the boats, but fortunately the wait between boats wasn’t long.

IDK if I shared this already or not, every time I see it, have to laugh

Seems as tho I’ve cooked & baked the whole day. Decided to do the corned beef/cabbage/potatoes/carrots St Paddy’s day feast today. Tomorrow will be Reubens & red skinned potato salad I made this afternoon (which always seems to taste better after it sits overnight).

The Daves got a boring beef roast, they don’t know what they are missing! Walnut brownies & my soda bread, which family sez puts Finnegans to shame. Tooting my own horn

As long as they serve the good stuff & keep the litter box clean, I could live with that too lol

Holy moley! We haven’t had that sort of accumulation in one storm in years. Thank the powers that be!

Gotta wonder what folks do that are unable to handle that chore? They started a program here this year, called Snow Angels. It’s a good way for the high school kids to accumulate their mandatory community service hours

My two older boys are again coaching a semi-pro indoor football team. They played in Greensboro last night. Said it was non stop tornado warnings all the way back home.

We had one in force for all day. There were some of the winds associated with them in the area but, all we got was 1/4 inch hail and a ton of rain, with sunshine in between; no less!

I’ve yet to make that pie well. My mom’s was best I’ve ever eaten. I’ve used the same recipe and several off the internet. All to no avail.

When I found out how many calories were in pie crust, decided to skip it going forward no matter how flakey it is
Oh no, don't tell me there are a lot of calories in the graham cracker crust! I like to live in oblivion, lol.
I love the cat eclipse meme!

I'm glad your sons got home safe and sound. Those storms are no joke, and I've been through many of them when we lived in the South. We got so we didn't quite pay attention to most of them, which was probably a dumb thing to do. But they had them repeatedly for days.......

We lucked out and only got about 5 or 6 inches of snow. Roger is still able to snowblow our long driveway, but I wish he would get someone else to do it. We have teenage grandsons who could use the extra money, but he loves to do it, so....

Your St. Pat's day menu sounds terrific! Our small town has the shortest St. Patrick's parade in the US. It goes from one bar to another bar restaurant across the street called Brigids Pub. It's hilarious because they make a big deal of crossing the street in all their green finery.

Your soda bread looks wonderful, and homemade too? I bought a new bread machine and really love it, but I wish I could do it by hand. My arthritis in the hands wont' allow it so we use the machine.

Mac, I’m with you, I tend to like the pie filling more than the crust. Lemon is one of my favorite.

Was rainy early this morning, then felt cold enough, turned heater up in car, when we have had it off the last couple of days. Tomorrow, will start overcast, as it was all day today, then 40 to 50 mph winds before a Thunderstorm Watch issued for early evening. Soaked trash cans at the curb, I assume. And will still be rainy a little Monday morning. Joy for that day’s start. Not.

All decided Chinese for dinner tonight. Was delicious as usual and always very hot when we get opened at home. They are only about 10 or so minutes up the road for us. And not as much traffic near it, as road closed right above it, until November. Ugh. Makes getting past the closed part of that main drag very near us, annoying, and is giving lots more traffic to the other main drag that goes the same way, but is miles apart, and gives us a little longer to get home if we want something above the blocked part of the road.

Now, chilling as have done most of the day. Kids even brought me home a chocolate croissant for an afternoon snack. They were at the park above that bakery, again trying to catch a Pokémon.

Hope all are having a great weekend. And glad not seeing snow, ❄️ like Ruth.
The lemon pie itself was delicious, but I will never try to defrost the Cool Whip on top of the LP heater (even though it wasn't turned on it was warm). Then I nuked it in the microwave. Another mistake, LOL. It had yellow oilly stuff in it and was like a blob of mayo.

Chinese food sounds wonderful! We have one nice Chinese restaurant in our town, so I think I will get Chinese food soon. You made me hungry for it.

Happy Sunday! I am home and trying to recover before going back to work tomorrow.
It sounds like you had a great vacation and warm weather. My daughter and her friend flew back Sunday from Sanibel Island, but not to LaGuardia, LOL.
second floor of building 6 at the French Quarter.
We absolutely LOVE POFQ. We would always stay there when we went to WDW. It's such a gorgeous and relaxing place to just wander around. The food court was always good, and the boat to DS was convenient.
We ended the night watching Fantasmic.
We've had terrible luck with trying to see Fantasmic. Storms one time and was closed for some reason when we tried again. We did finally get to see it and it was great.
We had a late lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern.
We did the Keys to the Kingdom tour a while ago. It was very informative and fun. We also ate at the Columbia Harbor House. I would do it again, if I ever go back to WDW. Not in the cards right now.
Today we had breakfast at the hotel and then went to MK for the Keys to the Kingdom
see above, oops!
Had a wonderful weekend, mum’s celebration was fabulous, we all had such a lovely time and yes, she was queen for the day.
Hi Carole:
So glad your Mom had a wonderful birthday with all the family:) Those photos of the water and beach at your hotel are just beautiful.
We don't celebrate St. Pat's but the town does have the short parade as I told Charade. It's done for fun and everyone makes a big deal about walking across the street in all their green finery. No, I've never done it.

We got lucky with our storm and only had 5 to 6 inches of the white stuff. We were lucky as a lot of people had horrific storms in the South. I remember those nights of worrying and being up due to the tornado alerts. At least we don't get those up here:)

Robin and her friend flew back home yesterday. They missed the horrible weather and tornados by one day. She said it was a great flight. She came back with a sunburn, but very happy being a beach bum! They stayed on the beach or by the pool all the time and soaked in the sun. They are lucky that they flew back on Sunday, as the tornadoes and storms were all day Saturday.

Not much going on here. We are watching Tangled. Such a cute show. Then I will work on the never ending jacket, LOL.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

That’s looks really good
She still has the autograph books we got her when she was 7
Aw, so sweet. I felt really old when one of my kid’s friends told me that her kids use her WDW autograph book she had when a little
Trash at curb
Ours is tonight, I’m going to use this as a reminder going forward. It was Friday am for decades here, I just can’t get used to it.
The song we got was Disco Inferno
My fav on that ride
Despite my best efforts I managed to get a blister on the side of my left foot
Do u use body glide stuff for chafing? I swear by it, not just on me feet
I am so in love with this resort now.
The theming is indeed lovely & those corner rooms are cute. Although we never opened the shutters because of the walkways lol. I think the thing I like best about it is how small it is. None of the rooms are more than a few min from lobby, boat, parking/bus
I will definitely do this show again.
We do it every July 3rd with the little since our first solo trip with her 10 years ago
then went to MK for the Keys to the Kingdom tour.
Another goodie. Although my youngest DS said it scarred him for life when he saw Woody take off his head backstage lol
I think I see compression socks in my future.
I have a collection, courtesy of amazon
This is my backyard today. This is not my tree.
Tell your neighbors to come collect their tree lol. Good thing it wasn’t closer to any structures
Had a wonderful weekend, mum’s celebration was fabulous, we all had such a lovely time and yes, she was queen for the day.
I’ve decided she’s an Empress! Glad to hear it went well, welcome home
If I’m going to pay that much for Pop, CB can be just as cheap.
I’ve never warmed up to Pop, just not disney themed enough for me. If I’m at a value looking at huge icons, give me Donald Duck, Mickey in a pinch. Always wander over to AoA to get our fix of that and the food court seems a notch above. TBH, I’m a ASMu girl for the three amigos pool.
I don’t know if I can stand a Florida summer.
I said that our first year with then 4 y.o. GD in tow. Have been back every 4th of July since :). It’s not the heat, it’s not the humidity, it’s the real feel. Our worst was 111 a couple of years ago. You just go in the am, retreat to pool and back for dinner, then later hours as it cools off.
Oh no, don't tell me there are a lot of calories in the graham cracker crust! I like to live in oblivion, lol.
IDK re that one. The pastry one is scary high and full of fat
We lucked out and only got about 5 or 6 inches of snow.
That is the most optimistic statement I’ve heard in a long time lol. Good for you1
Your soda bread looks wonderful, and homemade too? I bought a new bread machine and really love it, but I wish I could do it by hand.
Yes, my very own recipe I’ve adapted over the years. Was interesting yesterday, as quite humid with the storms going thru, had to add almost an extra cup of flour to it until the dough started to pull away from the bowl.

I’m big on bread machine but do it by hand, it’s so quick and easy to mix. Will send a copy off to you.
My daughter and her friend flew back Sunday from Sanibel Island,
Talk about a shock to her system! Did she have a great time?

Heading home soon but we managed some gorgeous early morning pics of my favourite place in the UK!
Beautiful pictures.

We got lucky with our storm and only had 5 to 6 inches of the white stuff.
Glad you didn’t get as much as predicted.

Do u use body glide stuff for chafing? I swear by it, not just on me feet
I used Vaseline on my heels. It worked really well on my last Universal trip. Whenever I get a blister it is always in the exact same place.

Another goodie. Although my youngest DS said it scarred him for life when he saw Woody take off his head backstage lol
We saw Pluto without his head and other characters in various states of dress. They were preparing for the parade.

Tell your neighbors to come collect their tree lol. Good thing it wasn’t closer to any structures
I’m surprised they haven’t said anything to us yet.

We’ve stayed at Pop twice. I really liked the theming, but we have had rooms far from the bus stop. We stayed at AoA once in the Little Mermaid rooms. I do not recommend that. The walk to the lobby seemed to get longer each day.

Work was stressful and exhausting today. There must have been at least a dozen new people wanting to schedule therapy. I swear people seem to know when I’m not in the office. That’s when they all call. My boss also tried posting payments and managed to mess some of that up. I have no idea what she was trying to do.
I asked dh if we could book our bounce back offer for next week and not return home.

schumi good to hear your mum’s bd party was great.

I am sure everyone had a fun time.

Thanks mac, it was a huge success and everyone had the best time, especially mum, I think she secretly enjoyed being the star of the show for the day. And we did get another family picture with just her and all my siblings.

Thanks Ruth, I can`t tell you how much I love that area, well, lived all my childhood there so it`s all good memories, it is stunningly beautiful and pictures just don`t do it justice at all.

Nope no celebrating that day here for us either, I don`t know anyone that does celebrate it here either. Some pubs put up some stereotypical Irish stuff and call it a celebration, not for me, load of old tosh. I like this meme!!!

I`m glad Robin had such a lovely time with her friend! Glad she and you missed the worst of the storms!!

Will catch up later today and send you some pictures!!

I`ve never tried BodyGlide, I see people mention it and always wonder about it, might give it a try. I sometimes put anti chafing gel on the old feet if I feel a hotspot or maybe a little toe is red. I`ll have a look for it next trip.

Thank you, yes, she was her own little Empress for the day! She is amazing for 90.

lol, hadn`t seen the Kermit meme before!

Almost forgot, this is the picture from up here watching the fog bank roll in, the picture might look like cloud, but it was pure fog. Within a few minutes we were shrouded, bye bye sunshine. The sea is under that hill and fog.

Thank you, and glad you had such a nice trip to Orlando. I would think that tree would be hard for you neighbours to ignore!!! Hope they get it moved soon, they can`t leave it there and surely it is their responsibility?

Long day yesterday, quite a short trip but so worth it, to see mum on her special birthday was so lovely and she had an amazing time and we got some lovely pictures of the whole thing. I think she was overwhelmed with all the cards and gifts she received, she had asked for no presents, but of course no one listened as you would expect and I don`t think she has managed to open everything yet.

Three of my sisters friends along with my sister did all the food and it was lovely, they helped serve and clear up too which was so kind of them, we all made sure to thank them as it meant we could be with the guests too, honestly it was such a good day.

The whole weekend was lovely though, catching up with siblings, cousins, old neighbours and folks that were just around when we were little, but saw my bestest friend up there, her and her husband dropped off her mum who has been friends with my mum for a million years, it was wonderful to see them too. I swear blind Robert has a picture in the attic as he gets younger looking every time we see them!!

But, back home now and it is freezing, we have ice this morning and everything is pure white. Sleeping beauty is still out for the count, going to make another pot of tea and take it upstairs soon then get showered and dressed, head out for some shopping, it does look beautiful out there despite it being really cold.

Farm store, butcher and grocery store this morning, then home, if it`s nice this afternoon we might go a walk but we`ll see. I can see lots of tea being our plans though after a weekend of indulgence, well not Tom who was driving and Kyle doesn`t drink so yep, I did indulge a little, well, it was a huge celebration!! And she is already talking about what she wants for her 100th party.....what a woman!!!

Hope you have a lovely Tuesday :sunny::sunny::sunny:

I just had an interesting afternoon. After work I went to the car wash. As I was leaving I needed to make a right turn onto the main road. Traffic was backing up because people were coming from the high school. One driver slowed down to almost a stop (traffic was barely moving at this point) and waved me in. Just as I was about to make my turn I heard the impact. The car (VW) coming up behind the car (Hyundai) that was letting me out drove right into it. The impact was enough that all air bags of the VW deployed. The driver of the Hyundai was a 77 year old woman who was driving her granddaughter home from school. The driver of the VW was a high school student. No one was injured, but I suspect the Hyundai driver is going to be very sore for a few days. She refused an offer to go to the hospital to be checked out. I stuck around to be a witness. I exchanged names and phone numbers with the Hyundai driver. She said she would let me know how it turns out.

Hmm, DH woke me up and said alarm didn’t go off. Um, it’s 2:30 am not 4:30 am. Then he was chatty. Sigh. It did indeed go off at its set time. But hey, clear sky, with white moon lighting the way. Fast, as usual, commute with a big line into my place. Guess many more were early risers this last day of Winter day. And a glorious sunshine day it is. 40 degrees when I left my house. Jacket was on, but I’ll be carrying it and tossing it into the car when I leave. 70 the high. Woot! Now that’s a most perfect way to end Winter. Just saying. ::yes::

But yay, as in that mid week already, and who do I see?

IMG_4229.jpeg

Ah yes, camel in that bright blue of my shine filled day, wishing all a happy Wednesday. That reminder it feels like a hump of day to get over, then fabulous Friday is here a day later. Good thing to get ready for Friday, by being thirsty tomorrow.

Debating on another cup of tea. And have that sweater open jacket ready, but office feels almost that Goldilocks just right temp.

Hope all are enjoying some nice weather, on this Wonderful Wednesday last day of winter.

Good morning. :surfweb:

have any of you ever had insomnia ? it’s not fun….do hope it will be gone by breakfast
time and get a few winks in tonight

Very rarely mac.....I sleep very well, hope you got back to sleep and had a good one too!!

Cup of tea :rotfl:

It is a beautiful day, chilly with high 50`s but the sun is shining and lots of blue skies around just makes it seem all the nicer. Gorgeous sunrise too.

Went walking this morning with four of our friends, a slow walk as one of them is getting over a leg injury, but nice all the same. Stopped in for morning tea/coffee and had a lovely toasted scone with my tea, lovely.

Don`t need lunch as the scone was huge, so more tea this afternoon and might have a light snack, dinner will be Brie stuffed chicken with a white sauce and a dollop of cranberry sauce. Then Wednesday night is Salsa night for myself and my buddy J and whatever other dances she chooses to teach us. Legs will ache tomorrow!!

Here`s my next cuppa coming right up!!! I don`t think I`ll move from this sunshine streaming in all day today, comfy sofa, sunshine, tea and a book...can`t go wrong!!

Have a lovely Wednesday :-)

:wave2: Quick stop in.

Busy as usual here. Weather has turned cold again, with another foot of snow dumped on us . It's the time of year where Mother Nature is peri-menopausal woman and can't make up her mind what she wants to do.

I've been taking breaks away from social media - given events happening lately. It is too frustrating right now. So if you wonder where I am - I've probably stepped away for a bit again.

22 days until we leave for our hot holiday. I am definitely needing some time in the sun where my only worry is are we going to lay by the beach or pool, what bathing suit will I wear - and my favorite - which restaurant / buffet will we belly up to eat at next.

We are heading to dd's tonight, she is making dinner for us tonight. I will enjoy any meal I don't have to make ::yes:: I did take chicken out for tonight - but that will be for tomorrow night instead.

Just thought I would pop in quickly before tackling more things on the desk.

Have a great day everyone!!!

It was sunny & hit 80 degrees today:flower1:. Made the most of it, spent the afternoon out bopping in and out of stores with my middle DS, haven’t had our schedules line up for a hot minute.

Yes, my boys all do have the family shopping gene. The Mr, not so much. He finished up his project of mulching the side yard he started earlier this week, once again wound up with poison ivy. He had forgotten to tell me he ran out of the tecmu & ivyrest stuff he uses to clean off afterwards. It’s like clockwork, every time he works in specific parts of the yard even tho we dug it out years ago. Go figure

Finally…

IMG_6675.jpeg
Spring is just around the corner:duck:

The walk to the lobby seemed to get longer each day.
Ha, nothing worse than the never ending hallway for the far flung BWV rooms. We’ve timed it, 7 minutes at a brisk-ish pace from the elevator. You just keep turning the corner to find yet another hallway.

Every thorn has a rose, I tend to request those rooms as they are near the steps’ shortcut to parking lot & they have a view of canal & FW from Fantasmic.
Three of my sisters friends along with my sister did all the food and it was lovely, they helped serve and clear up too which was so kind of them, we all made sure to thank them as it meant we could be with the guests too, honestly it was such a good day.
That is rare, as in unicorn sort, for friends to be so thoughtful. Says a lot about your family. So glad to hear it was such a wonderful day honoring your Mom!

google 4-7-8 breathing method. So easy a caveman can do it lol. Recommended for those with breathing issues/asthma, insomnia and stress/anxiety.

best thing about those choices is you cannot go wrong - enjoy!

Good evening everyone :wave2:

How is the food @ KSC now? Last meal there a few years ago was quite disappointing
I can’t speak for everything on the menu, But they have really good burgers. I have had them almost every visit and they are good.

We have booked our hot holiday. Heading to the Cancun area again for a week of laying by the pool/beach, and bellying up to the buffet or a la carte for dinners. I am looking forward to it.
Great to hear you have a nice warm place to relax coming up.

Obligatory castle photo.
Nice photo.

Was considering surprising the GD and driving up to the Bucees in Daytona (don’t ask she’s been begging for two years, stupid instagram lol). Thot since driving that far from MCO, why not just stay 2 nights @ the beach? Yes, any excuse will do for me to get my toes in the sand
Buc-ee’s is like the Walmart of gas stations, must see it to believe it.

Well, we are getting blizzard weather right now! The snow is blowing sideways from the North, and it is heavy. They are predicting 8 to 12 inches today....... We finally had grass showing through the snow and warmer weather. Now we get this!!! Robin says she might stay in Florida, LOL. She is due to fly back tomorrow, Sunday.
Ruth hope your weather warms up soon.

Crocs.

Despite my best efforts I managed to get a blister on the side of my left foot. This was my footwear for the rest of the trip. On my way back to the room I took a few photos of the resort.
Nice Crocs Charade.

Sorry to hear about the foot blister. I was getting a blister in the same area on the ball of my right foot. I finally went and was fitted for a pair of good sport shoes. I also add some tape to protect the area. So far so good.

However, I was very sore in my lower back/hip area, had some ankle swelling, and got a bit of the "Disney rash". I think I see compression socks in my future.
I have seen folks of all ages and sizes get the rash which is exercise induced vasculitis.

I have gotten it a few times and what has worked for me is to mix a little extra-strength Benedryl and Cortisone cream in the palm of my had and put it on my lower legs before I start the park hike. No more rash. It has worked for me.

That being said you, should not use over the counter medicinal creams if there is a possibility you are allergic to them.

Compression socks help too.

Thank you for sharing your trip report. Sounds like you were busy.

If you are still reading this, thank you for indulging me. I will end with something closer to home. Apparently I slept through some strong storms last night. We had very strong winds this morning. This is my backyard today. This is not my tree.
Hope the neighbor helps you get the tree cleaned up on your back yard.

Good Monday morning from a very beautiful and mild Scottish morning!
Pretty picture.

Had a wonderful weekend, mum’s celebration was fabulous, we all had such a lovely time and yes, she was queen for the day

So good to hear your mom enjoyed her royal birthday celebration. Reaching 90 is something to celebrate for sure.

Janet sounds like a nice Irish meal you prepared for St. Patricks Day.

Sending prayers your way for a successful surgery on Friday.

Another sunny day here. I have been meaning to post for the past couple days.

Nephew came for a visit for a few days. It is always so wonderful to see him. He recently got engaged. So happy he found someone. He has waited for the right one for a long time.

Made sure to send him back home with plenty of home cooked meals to warm up in the coming days.

Granddaughter is flying in tomorrow for a week. Looking forward to seeing her and enjoying some time with her.

Not much else going on here.

Have wonderful evening everyone.
