Something About Nothing............ #14

All four sons have children now and have secured jobs.
I dream of the day when at least one of the sons will be able to get a job transfer to the south.

I am not enjoying invisible grandchildren

With my luck i believe I would be really old at that point where the grandson’ would be taking care of me if need be.
Now if we would have had any granddaughters, I would be long gone by then.

Guess I will just have to make do keeping cats for now.

Hey all. Crack of dawn dr appt biting me now. May sneak in a pool nap lol

I had wondered if they hired new designers this year.

Appears shooting for a retro punk vibe. As one who lived thru that era, they are missing the true design & vibe by a wide mile

That's a cute idea

Have u tried KT tape? It's a foot/ankle saver for me. Recommended by both my podiatrist & several PTs. Videos online to help find the perfect taping configuration

Not sure how old ur DS is, scooter
Rental usage Age is 18 in FL

Universal have failed big time with it, yes, as one of the designers told us, it would be more suited to the parks out West, not here. There are absolutely some new designers but I think the issue is cost, everything is going into Epic, which from what we’ve been hearing will be out of this world, Helios included!

Better (almost) late than never, paid off our December cruise on RCCL’s Utopia, that just started sailing out of port canaveral. Should still have that new ship smell lol :boat:

Upon request, made the annual fried green tomato dinner yesterday. They talked to me all night, just not used to fried food these days. Do try to accommodate the fam

Today, will start the sauce for tomorrow’s pasta. Have 5# of hot sausage & 3# of ground beef. Will make up a quick red sauce & add the meat to simmer & then let the flavors develop overnight.

Tomorrow, will make rest of sauce & plop the trays in oven. Then, I don’t want to look @ pasta for at least a month!

Know Carole still making like a lizard in sunny FLA. not sure if Robbie’s trip is still humming along.

What’s everyone’s plans for the weekend? Still in the 80’s here woohoo.

I forget if I finally tried a fried green tomato!

Food sounds gorgeous Janet, they’re in for a treat, yes then sit back and chill out and no pasta in sight!

This is one happy lizard indeed!!!

That cruise sounds amazing!!

Put butter fried porcini, maitake, king, enoki and criminis in sauce 3 days ago. Fried and sliced the hot Italian sausage the next day. Over ravioli day one. Alone with the sausage the next, then over spaghetti rigate. Smothered in pecorino Romano, parmesan and asiago tableside.
Hope the ladies are enjoying the beautiful weather if they can dodge the showers, looks to be drying up for a while. Gulf moisture hits one way or another next weekend. Hopefully minus hurricane winds.

Rain???

Haven’t had a drop here apart from the first two nights when we were tucked up in our suite, there hasn’t been a drop during the day or evening since then.

I know they had a lot here before we arrived and everyone has said there was an awful amount of rain in August this year, so hope you have similar weather where you are and hope the rain doesn’t arrive here!

Good Friday Morning everyone :wave2:

It is sad.

Ruth so glad to hear your back is feeling better. Hope it is all healed up by the time your vacation time arrives.

Cute cat Pumpkin.

It is so sad about the bad behavior of the teens this year. Still shaking my head over the whole situation.

I would have never behaved in such a way as a teen.

Good to hear your wife’s leg is improving.

Hope you feel better soon.

I read many quit last year and after the first two weeks this year.

I think this might be the last year of HHN for me. Will still take my Fall vacation, but not HHN focused.

Good to hear you are enjoying your vacation. Have a great time the remainder of your trip.

There is a lot of walking depending on how much time is spent in the parks. Balancing park time and pool leisure time back at the resort is a nice mix.

My sister and I flew back out of the vacation bubble yesterday afternoon. Was sorry to leave. We had such nice stay at Portofino. The Club Lounge Staff were awesome.

Chilling with my sweetheart and cooking whatever he wants.

Wow….sounds delicious….and a great way to extend your Italian meals out nicely.

Flew back to IN with sister yesterday. Was sad to leave Portofino. They were so wonderful to us. It was time to leave the vacation bubble and get back home to the real world.

I’am at the Heart hospital this morning sitting in the waiting room while hubby is having his heart stress test. This was planned a number of weeks ago. He is having test done to see if he could tolerate having back surgery.

Brought my IPad to bide my time while hubby is having his tests. I can’t go back there with him while he is having his testing.

It was a wonderful vacation. We had a great mix of family time, leisure pool time and a little shopping.

Despite my disappointment in HHN this year it did not ruin my vacation. I did not take full advantage of the number of days I could have attended with my ROF with EP. Just did not feel the need to.

Just by observation. There were very few in my age group attending HHN this year.
Mostly I would guess teens, 20’s 30’s age group.

The hike back to Eternal Bloodlines and Goblins was very long. They constructed two new tent building structures for those houses that you had to walk behind MIB building. It was a hike. They had air conditioned mobile toilets that were half way to the houses if that gives you an idea.

The only saving grace was that you were able to go to both houses while you were back there.

I saw many young ones dropping for a sit on the concrete for a rest after that hike.

It was hot and muggy most nights I went to HHN. Nothing new there. A little portable hand fan or neck fan are wonderful things to have.

You can teach an old dog new tricks. My sister K brought her hand fan last year and I was sold.

It was 92 here when we landed yesterday afternoon, but not the humidity like Orlando. So Fall weather has not arrived here yet.

Hubby had my Halloween lights lit up for me when I arrived home.

Best part of getting back home was seeing my sweet husband.

Have a wonderful rest of your day everyone.

Glad you had a nice trip Robbie and hope your husband did well on the tests, hopefully back surgery will be an option for him.

TGIF :cheer2: I am so flippin happy it is Friday.

Woke up with a migraine early this morning and took meds, then back to sleep. Woke up feeling a bit better - enough to struggle through the day...but OMG I'm soooo crabby I can hardly stand myself. Thank goodness I work mostly alone, so not much interaction with others - only checking in pt's and answering phones. I can paste a smile and be courteous for that - but that's the limit.

Thank goodness I'm off early today, as I have a massage this afternoon. Whatever my massage lady is doing, it is helping my lower back and also my lower right leg and foot. Hopefully this one will have me in fine working order for Orlando.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it's almost time for me to leave. Always something hitting my desk all day.

Have a great day everyone. I hope to stop in while I'm puttering around the house this weekend:wave2:

Migraines are awful, hope it passed quickly and yes, hope you’re fighting fit for your trip!!

Hope that nasty migraine is history by now!
I am having a massage next week and hope it helps my back problems too. I am a bit apprehensive about laying on my stomach for the massage, but we will see. So glad it helped you.

Hey Ruth, I do hope the massage helps, has it eased yet at all??

I was chatting about you last night with your bear issues……it was a Brit I was talking to and she was horrified at the tale I regaled about you and where you live! Hope it’s long gone now.

I’m going to go with not enough work. It makes the time seem to go much slower.

I want to go visit Keisha and DJ this weekend.

College football tomorrow. Our game is sold out.

I can’t wait to be back in the vacation bubble again.

Hope you are feeling much better now.

The past few days have convinced me to ask for a dash cam for Christmas. There are too many bad drivers who go through the intersection just outside my neighborhood. They don’t seem to understand that the rule is right turn on red after stop. I have had 2 near misses in that intersection in the past 3 days. Oh, and we have a traffic signal there, not just stop signs.

I’m off to do some stitching. I feel the need to stab something repeatedly.

I like it Charade!!!

3 of my sons live in the north but 4th son lives in Indiana.

They were all for us to move to the south when the subject came up 8 years ago

.They figured they could get a job location near us.

As of this date it still has not happened
It’s really become just opposite of the original plans due to their employment was switched to far north from us

Now they are living further north which makes me regret we live in Georgia.
Takes a ten hour drive one way to see them unless they can get time off of work to come visit us.

It is hard to live away from family for sure.

Still having an amazing time!!!

And loving not doing HHN this time around, which I never thought I’d say.

Moved over to Sapphire yesterday, enjoying the larger suite here with the lagoon view we love so much. It’s so nice to be back, everyone looks after you so well in both hotels, feeling very spoiled!

It has been a much more relaxing trip this time, done very little, spent time with friends and still have a few meets to enjoy in the next couple of weeks. But loving this heat!! We went into IOA last night as it was open till 8, so we got some nice pictures of night time and got to ride Velocicoaster again in the dark, amazing!!

Unsure of plans today, waiting to hear from one of the managers who we are meeting up with for either lunch or early dinner, so once we know where and when, we can work our day around it, no parks today though!

Will be chatting to Kyle today, he was mainly responsible for organising the office golf day yesterday where a load of clients all enjoy golf, food and drinks, he said it went really well, so will hear more about it today and wish him well for another half marathon he’s doing tomorrow.

But, almost time to start the day…..yep, far too early of course, but when I’m awake, that’s me up!

Have a lovely weekend :)

Parks have been a mix of empty or mobbed depending on time of day and where you are, for the most part it’s been fine although ET was a 45 minute wait if you didn’t have EP the other day.
Feast or famine! The parks do have a different rhythm on nights where there are special events or close early
don't have any from any of my friends who hunt hogs
Long ago, remember a local we’d see every haunt season who would regale us with stories of golfers getting chased by these wild “swamp” hogs on the course. Said the owner’s encouraged the neighbors to hunt them after the golfers had departed for the day.
so fries on the menu for lunch
Whiz ‘wit?
I would have never behaved in such a way as a teen.
The fear of God (nee parents) was what kept most of my peers in line.
I read many quit last year and after the first two weeks this year.
After hearing that several years back in response to a Q i posed to a guide as to why the houses had originally “stunk” that year, then perked up the next weekend…

Shared that they expect a certain % of new hires to not cut the mustard. I took to asking same Q of any emplooyee’s ear I could find. It’s become common.

Used to people would work PT @ U just so they could have 1st consideration to be a scareactor, long abandoned practice. RIP chain saw wolves
Was sorry to leave.
Time to start planning the next trip. Actually, I usually find myself doing a bit of it when on most trips (as to checking rates, availability lol)
Chilling with my sweetheart and cooking whatever he wants.
Aw, that’s sweet. Hoping he passed his test!
There were very few in my age group attending HHN this year.
I’ve been in that demographic for ahem longer than I care to remember. Actually, it really doesn’t bother me one bit as I know 30 y.o.’s that act like they are in the 70’s.
Woke up with a migraine early this morning and took meds,
Ouch. Do you use RX? Was finally diagnosed with ocular type. Supposed to see a neuro something or other for that…on the bottom of the to-do list at this point, take a number. Family dr did prescribe something as they had become more frequent over the last 15 years. Would you believe I haven’t had one in a week & a half? Maybe the idea of another RX scared them away lol
I am a bit apprehensive about laying on my stomach for the massage, but we will see.
Haha i haven’t been able to lay on my stomach comfortably since I graduated from a training bra:crazy:
I want to go visit Keisha and DJ this weekend
Good to see somebody appreciate some red sauce! My DH won’t touch it, even on pizza. All these years later & I still can’t wrap my head around that.
College football tomorrow. Our game is sold out.
Have a great time!
I can’t wait to be back in the vacation bubble again.
Even in the parks, I’ve always been the sort who wants to see what’s on the other side of hill lol
I’m using the blunt tipped ones.
So much smoother when cross stitching.
ok … that’s a big relief for me……
Nothing sharp so I’ll feel no pain then.
coming from one who has accidently stuck herself countless times with a sewing needle…The sharper they are, the less painful. It’s those dull edge ones that really hurt.
Now if we would have had any granddaughters, I would be long gone by then.
Don’t you have one in the bullpen? :magnify:

Modern gals seem to have more on their plate now, being superwomen than back in the day. Most families, when they do care to help out, it seems to be more of a team effort.

Sadly,I know several elderly who need help, having healthy, retired immediate family living within a mile who need to use social agencies for any sort of assistance. SMH
I think the issue is cost, everything is going into Epic, which from what we’ve been hearing will be out of this world, Helios included!
It’s glaring how they have tightened up spending in the parks, more so than after covid.

I’d truly hate to see the existing parks relegated to red head stepchild :duck:status
We went into IOA last night as it was open till 8,
Rarely get into U parks at night unless an event or holiday parade etc. Forgot how pretty they are, especially IOA with the lights reflecting on the lake
wish him well for another half marathon he’s doing tomorrow.
He is such a busy guy! Know you must miss him already

Getting ready to hit the ground running…one more coffee required

IMG_6152.jpeg
Feeling like that last rose of summer, woke up @ 5am and couldn’t fall back asleep. Least I cleared off some old Alfred Hitchcock shows from the DVR. The one good thing about losing sleep one night, typically sleep like a log the next!

Have a great day all.

Saturday is here, and mostly sunny, with 82 the high. Shorts and t shirt. Yep. Agree, let those summer feeling days continue Keisha, though mostly see low 70’s the high and rain chances earlier next week.

Walked into Costco the other day, Halloween stuff relegated to the back, Christmas trees out front with lots of winter holiday decor now. Mind you, nary saw much Thanksgiving decor. Seems that holiday gets very little compared to the other holidays. But can’t seem to get out of there without buying items I was not intending to buy.

Hope Pumpkin does not have a headache today, and Disney, hope massage helps, and cute cross-stitch, Charade.

I think older one works, so should be hearing him up soon. Weekends are for our largest tv to be solely mine in the early mornings.

Walked into Costco the other day, Halloween stuff relegated to the back, Christmas trees out front with lots of winter holiday decor now.
That's just wrong lol

Although I have (barely) started Xmas shopping. Might as well get what I know they want when I see it on sale. Although, if too early, have tendency to give it early, just because

Ruth think I forgot to comment. That really was a long time to suffer with such severe back issues. Glad to hear u stuck in there and coming out the other end.

We met up with our friend D the other day for coffee who had worked HHN for many, many years, him and others quit last
It sounds like a lot of people are quitting the HHN lately? I always thought it would be a fun thing for the young people to do as scare actors. But now it seems some people have ruined it for them, grrr.
I know adults can be jerks too, we’ve never seen that thankfully, but one of the issues that has been getting worse is the amount of young babies/toddlers at the event.
I can't believe people are bringing young babies and toddlers to this event? What is wrong with them?
Weather has been amazing! I still haven’t uttered those famous words yet that it’s too hot
LOL, and you won't utter those words will you?
Mainly catching up with friends, made some new friends in the Club Lounge with some Canadian convention people,
It sounds like a relaxing time visiting with old and new friends.
WE have tried it allllllllllll. It has helped but we found if he wears a compression type sock , that helps to stabilize his ankle
I'm so glad to hear that the compression sock is working for him.
Ruth so glad to hear your back is feeling better. Hope it is all healed up by the time your vacation time arrives.
Well, today, I finally woke up without pain. That makes it 7 weeks with back pain. Hope it is all gone for good:)
Flew back to IN with sister yesterday. Was sad to leave Portofino. They were so wonderful to us. It was time to leave the
Sounds like a lovely trip. I've never stayed at Portofino, but will venture over and check it out this time.
I’am at the Heart hospital this morning sitting in the waiting room while hubby is having his heart stress test.
I hope all goes well with your husband's test. Is it a routine test?
Hubby had my Halloween lights lit up for me when I arrived home.
What a sweetheart:)
Hey Ruth, I do hope the massage helps, has it eased yet at all??
The massage is next week, so will have her take it easy with my back. Don't feel confident enough yet to have a full back massage or to do too much.
I was chatting about you last night with your bear issues……it was a Brit I was talking to and she was horrified at the tale I
LOL. I have more bear stories now. We have a big apple tree in the front yard and a big bear has been tearing the limbs down and climbing it. So, Roger is going to have to cut it down to keep the bears out of the yard. It is a crab apple tree so no big loss. There has been evidence of a bear being in the yard too, but I haven't seen any lately. It sure has been a weird year with so many bears coming around. I hope this is a one and done thing, LOL>
It has been a much more relaxing trip this time, done very little, spent time with friends
I love more relaxing trips. We used to do the commando type trips with the kids, but now we find time to relax and enjoy the atmosphere now.
wish him well for another half
Well wishes to Kyle for his half marathon coming up:)
Haha i haven’t been able to lay on my stomach comfortably since I graduated from a training bra:crazy:
LOL! I can lay on the massage table on my stomach, but it's not easy:) We'll see how that goes. I'm hoping it doesn't aggravate my back. I've had enough of being careful and walking on eggs around here!!!!

The fear of God (nee parents) was what kept most of my peers in line.
Isn't that the truth. I was more afraid of what my Dad would think and do if I ever tried anything. That kept me in line in my younger years:) He was also on the school board, so I had to be good.
Rarely get into U parks at night unless an event or holiday parade etc. Forgot how pretty they are,
I have only been in the parks at dark for the Holiday parade. This time we will definitely go to the parks at night.
Walked into Costco the other day, Halloween stuff relegated to the back, Christmas trees out front
Wow, it just keeps getting earlier and earlier for Christmas things. Our Hobby Lobby put out all their trees and decorations a month ago! Way too early.
Ruth think I forgot to comment. That really was a long time to suffer with such severe back issues. Glad to hear u stuck in
Yes, today is the first day I feel "normal". Yea!

After 7 weeks, I finally woke up to No back pain and No soreness!!!! To say I am happy is an understatement. I drove to town to take supplies to Mom and did not have back pain or tightness at all> I'm almost afraid to do anything in fear it will come back. I have Never had back pain last this long before. There was no nerve involvement - it was all muscular which is a big relief. So, I am hopeful for our November 2nd trip:) We had another trip before that involving driving to Tennessee to see my brother, but that trip is off for now. It involves a day and a half drive each way, which is not something I want to try at this time. Riding in a car has been irritating to my back.

It's beautiful out today with sunny skies and 70's, However, we will get in the 60's with lows in the 40's this week! I love fall, but it doesn't hang around long here. No big plans today, just need to work on the table topper quilt I am making. I only do a little at a time. It takes longer, but is easier on the back.

Tomorrow is FootBall!!!! Of course. I love football Sundays and am a happy couch potato all day:)

Hope everyone else has a happy couch potato day.
Hi to everyone I have missed quoting!

ruth

Current situation - the football stadium has been evacuated due to thunderstorms. Dh and I are currently sitting in the hallway near his office. We are almost completely soaked through. We have decided that if they can’t get the game restarted within the hour we will just go home.

In other fun news - our washing machine died today. Looks like we are going appliance shopping tomorrow.

Good luck getting a new washer, Charade. Ack to being soaked. Compared to our old one, our new one does a much better job, and love the clear top the new one of ours has. DH was not impressed, but I love it. We paid to have the old one taken away and the new one put in. I know we could have done it, but I told DH, let’s just pay for it, rather than having to put it in his truck, and go to the township to pay to take the old one away. The guys that did the swap for us, were very fast, came as said they would, and took all the trash away from the new one, as well as the old one.

Pasta night. Okay with me. Not fond of the cheese little one put on it, but was hungry enough, I ate it all. Now relaxing, with a visit with sister on tap tomorrow.

DH called, and he’s feeling better. I think almost everyone in his unit got the virus. Got an update from his team, yesterday afternoon, and while he’ll need support when he comes home, the date he gets out is still as planned, as of yesterday. So we get training a few days before his release date. Life will certainly be different, but this too will be our new normal before you know it.

I so like the weekends, no alarm, even if I’m still up around the time it goes off.

Quick stop in!!!

Dh is watching the nascar race - ds's are doing the dinner dishes, and I get to sit back and relax. Whipped up roast chicken for dinner. So yummy. I picked up a big package of 5 frozen chickens from the Hutterite colony that comes into town every Friday. They are huge birds - but tasty. We will be eating chicken sammies for a few days, which is always a hit around here.

House is tidied, bedding and my clothes are washed. It was a busy day. Tomorrow will be groceries and probably a little baking.

Hope that nasty migraine is history by now!
Thank goodness yes!!! I should have known that with the weather system that was going coming in - I would have had one hit me :rolleyes2

I'm glad your back is finally pain free!!!!
I feel the need to stab something repeatedly.
:rotfl: Love that project!!!!
All four sons have children now and have secured jobs.
I dream of the day when at least one of the sons will be able to get a job transfer to the south.

I am not enjoying invisible grandchildren
It is hard being far away from them. I am lucky mine is only a 4 -5 dr drive away from us. I can't wait until they have moved back. Son-in-law will be coming here Oct 2 with the two dogs.
Still having an amazing time!!!
That is great to hear!!!!!
Ouch. Do you use RX?
I would have to get up to look - but it is a powder and add a little water and chug. I should have known with my barometer brain that it would happen with the weather change we have had. Then pulled out the last of the Excedrin ( I'll be stocking up again) with Gatorade the rest of the day - which seems to help.

In other fun news - our washing machine died today. Looks like we are going appliance shopping tomorrow.
Ugh that sucks. Are you going to go with a front load or top load? If it's a top load - will you get one with an agitator or without?
I have a feeling ours is on it's last legs too. We have to watch how much we load into it now. I've been trying to decide what to look for next.
DH called, and he’s feeling better.
It's great to hear your dh is feeling better. Hopefully the lockdown is over soon. Life may change - but we always find the new normal.

Well, off to see what I can scrounge up for a night snack around here. I'm still a little peckish.

I'll leave a light on for anyone roaming in during the early morning hours.

IMG_3679.jpeg

Yep, we can now say, let the holiday season stuff be out in earnest. Nothing like choosing a holiday present months before. Yep, that time of year. lol

Sunday is here, even though it’s the first day of Fall, the trash cans will be dragged to the curb later today.

Longest hot shower I’ve had in a while. Felt like I needed it, after not feeling good this last week. Feeling good now, thankfully.

And this week is the last full week of September. Gosh time is flying by.

Have to get dressed, get out of my pajamas, as little one said she’s awake. And will be masked as we enter DH’s building. Will visit him, before we head to my sister’s place. Little one said she’s almost ready, so we will be out the door with the some of the last of the trash, sooner than later, as toss before leaving. Told older one when he leaves to grab a bag to toss in the cans too. He has to work today, so should be hearing him around now. Unlike his sister, he’s always pleasant when he gets up, and he usually comes down to say hello before he gets ready.

At least the rain holds off until I have to commute. Yeah, the three days I have to commute this week, are the three days where we will have rainy days this week. Boo. But at least I have a nice rain jacket to wear and a huge golf umbrella to carry.

Super nice day to all.
