Something About Nothing............ #14

I was all prepared for a lighthearted post about how I didn’t want to go back to work after a 5 day weekend. When I got to work this morning I was greeted with the news that one of our clients had taken her own life over the weekend. She leaves behind a husband and 2 daughters aged 3 and 5.
I have no words right now.
Prayers for all involved 🙏
There are no words.

Agree. No words and how sad. Such horrible news to learn. Prayers and comfort to her family.

Yay, what a day makes again. Woke up right before alarm would go off. Quick enough commute, and what? Need me to sign in four times? Whatever. At least it was fast after that. Thank you laptop.

And glad after today, one more day of commuting. Then, ever so thankful for the lazy Friday this week, making it a bonus back to back three day weekend. Three day, week day routine this week? Woot!

As we are that mid week point already, who do I see?

Ah a smiling camel reminding all, this hump of a day Wednesday means, get over this hump day, and that most fabulous Friday feeling last day of May, will then be a day away. Woot!

61 out at home, 59 my phone says as in office. Felt refreshing though, and not so dark when I leave, though still arrive at least almost a hour, before sunrise. And while not going to be 80 or above today, glorious sunshine until late afternoon, then partly cloudy, with a chance of rain in the earlier part of the evening. 77 the high. Still a perfect Spring day. Sunglasses ready for that lunchtime walk.

Time to refill that tea mug, and thus, hope all have a Most Wonderful Wednesday today.

Good Wednesday morning everyone :wave2:

The ‘lil qualified for New Balance national track competition in long jump in Philadelphia next month.
Congratulations to your granddaughter.

Today is jr’s actual BD = I’ll be grilling out chicken & letting him open his presents today. Actually, urged him to do so yesterday at the party but, wanted to save some for today. We are known for stretching out celebrations here lol
Happy belated birthday wishes for your son and hubby.

Also whipped up a sour dough loaf - but when I went to shape it - I put caramelized onions and aged cheddar cheese. I made a sandwich with it today - and OMG....sooooooooo delicious!!!! It's a bit heavy - but so tasty. I think that the others in the house may want me to only make that one from now on.
Your bread sounds so good.

Always so sad to hear of such heartbreaking things.

Not much going on in my neck of the woods here this morning. Just a couple errands today.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone.

Days till vacation.

Quick morning stop in!

It's a cold drizzly day here. The rain is good - it's that rain that will soak into the ground type of rain - which is what we need. I am making chili tonight for dinner. I thought that would be a good cold day meal to have today.

The last few days have been busy on the unit. The casual admin was in the past few days - which was nice to have someone to chit chat with. We know each other from my other desk with homecare. We get along well. Hopefully when another new RO starts in fall - she will be coming to work as a full-time admin at the desk with me.

Quiet night last night. My lower back has been extremely bothersome lately. So last night it was sitting with the heating pad on. Just cruising around watching some youtube videos and planning some of our fall trip.

Today is the mr’s birthday. Have yet to decide if going out to eat or cooking as it depends on how many of the spawn decide to stop by…sniffing for more celebratory nommies lol
Happy belated birthday to the Mr. I hope you had a wonderful day celebrating.

Ugh - such a punch in the gut. News like that never gets easier. I will send prayers to all of them.
Days till vacation.
:cheer2: It's going fast now!!!

Well, I should go shuffle a few papers around.

Have a great day everyone!

First carole, now Mac

Robbie - all those pics are certainly cheery!

Lynne - damp & cold here;; rain, rain, go away

Pumpkin - back pain is awful. one of my DS talked me into trying a foam roller for my back this weekend. I took the bait and did it in front of my family. Ever do something and realize at the very last minute, when it’s too late, it was going to go very badly?

Initially, felt stuck, couldn’t roll off it. My charming DSs were quite amused when one mused that I looked like a turtle on its back. Cannot say I recommend it. Having sons, that is…ha ha ha ha. JK love them, even when they pile on lol

Gave up on anyone turning in my glasses that went missing at the garden store. Really liked the frames & how the transition lens got so dark. Less than two years old, only worn by an old lady in PA to drive.

My regular practice couldn’t get me in for new rX. Do have an existing annual Appt for basic eye exam, along with more testing, scheduled in august. Didn’t want to wait that long

Visit there last week was an annual medical visit not for RX for glasses. o_O I need a playbook to keep it straight. Crazy Medicare rules…basically, you need two separate appts for what was done in one before I retired. All to double dip on the insurance. No wonder they are going broke.

Got a same day appt at local MyEyeDr. When i arrived was informed the insurance I had registered, that they said they accepted, was an issue after all. Whaaat?

My coverage is billed under “medical” not “vision”. A private, retiree plan in lieu of traditional Medicare. Called my insurer, they confirmed that eye dr’s system doesn’t talk to it, as they aren’t considered “medical” as optometrists vs opthamologist. Double whaaat?

Maybe Charade knows whatever they were talking about but, I gave up. Had to put appt charge on CC. Gave me a receipt and said to submit it directly online to my insurer. It’s easy they said, sure, I bet. Tabled as eyes were dilated all afternoon.

Bonus points, not a single pair of glasses looked right there. Left empty handed. No, there was a pair, I wasn’t paying $600 for acrylic frames. Of course looking for same frames I lost and no luck.

I came home, ate chocolate, and ruined my appetite for dinner…

the end:squirrel:

Keisha I’m still reading and give out likes to posters daily.

The past week been tied up with getting the house cleaned up for our company that arrives soon.
Was cleaning a few rooms a day but having cats, they never pick up after themselves…

Most peeps clean their house daily.
I wait until London Bridge is about to fall ….
lol…

Have now solved that problem and hired a cleaning service.

We put the ac on a week ago and it will stay on until fall hits us or when ever temps drop.

Son, dil and baby arrive tomorrow and can’t wait to see them.
Really it’s the baby I am excited for ….lol

lol London bridge

Yes, I see the likes. Just missed your take on things. Reminds me of my Norton security…always running silently in the background ;)

You are now officially a fancee lady with a cleaning service:worship: hope she likes gatos 🐈

oh my goodness, your house will be so exciting & full of energy with the bambino!

Bet you won’t sleep a wink tonight or, until they leave lol

Keisha knows me too well
Took melatonin a few minutes ago and sleep will come soon for me.

Too excited to sleep as my kids and the baby are coming to visit….

Believe it’s a 6.5 hour drive for them if they don’t hit traffic to get to our house.

Have fine dinning set up at 7 tonight dinner in Chattanooga.

And I get to hold the baby from the time we go out to eat until we return home tomorrow night!

I have not forgotten how to change diapers.
Can’t be that tough of a job since he is only 4 1/2 months old now.

This will be more fun than having cats sleep with me
Second son and wife have their baby in early July and they will do the long drive down
Who will see my two babies .my other son will be having.

Walmart is closed now but will hit that store in the morning for whatever will be needed for the babies.
Basically it will be a quick run for extras diapers

Just remembered son asked if I could pick that up for them as they forgot to buy additional diapers this evening.

Second son and his wife are due to have their first child early July.

It’s a girl for them

both sons and dil are thrilled in becoming parents

Woot! Mac, best thing, hire help. How wonderful for you. to enjoy some baby grandkids, one coming today. London Bridge, lol. Glad to see you post. And hope you did get some sleep. Hehe, here, our Super Walmart is open 24 hours.

Keisha, yes, damp, a bit windy this morning, and we had a thunderstorm early last night. Hehe, went to do some shopping after dinner, and had our sunglasses on, as was still bright out. As we parked, sky looked like it was getting much darker. Hmm. But shopped, and by time we got out, light rain. But the time we left, windshield wipers were going fast, as so much rain. Heard a crack of lightning half way home. Older one, who was home, said heard thunder. Rained even more after we got home. And even more joy. Thunderstorms chances late this afternoon. I’m hoping I’ll be home before they fire up. Ack to losing your favorite driving glasses. I hope they turn up. I love my current sunglasses. They did replace a broken pair that I equally loved. Hate when the exact one you like, when you need replacing, is not exactly the same. But thankful close enough, I do love the current ones. Yeah, insurance. I had to fight as the charge for the visit was charged as glasses, so when I went to buy glasses, they denied my use of insurance for them. Finally got both paid by them. And crazy, twice billing you have.

Commute was damp, and puddling seen along the roads. Including in the parking lot I use. Fast enough commute, though car that took so long to get through the stop sign, where he and I behind him, were the only cars around, that he went through the yellow light and left me with a red. Sigh. But never saw him again, as he went straight, whereas I turn. Was the only car in my lane, until I turned into the road to enter the complex. And happy, only truck I saw was a trash truck on the other side of the road at my red light. No city or school bus seen either. A good commute indeed. Unlike the one I have late this afternoon. Then yay, no commute until next week’s Tuesday.

Back to tea drinking I am. Thirsty this morning, as well as nature, apparently.

Time to wish all, that week day reminder to drink up enough you are hydrated. Thirsty Thursday is here. And you know:

Yay, lazy Friday coming up. Three day weekend? Woot! Alarm off when I get home. DH gets up around alarm time anyway. lol.

That sounds perfect!
both sons and dil are thrilled in becoming parents
And somebody sounds like a happy grandma too!

Did you claim ‘a grandma name’. I’m of the call me grandma. Old school.

Other Grandmas came up with cute names for themselves. Just not something ever done in my family.

Well, the Mr is called Pap but, only as that’s the word we always used
Hate when the exact one you like, when you need replacing, is not exactly the same. But thankful close enough,
I gave up on finding a clone after searching internet, then hitting up 4 more retailers today

Defeated, went to Sam’s to get more little ceasar dog food my pooch enjoys for breakfast as the sale was ending.

On a lark, looked at their glasses display at optical. They now carry some high end brands & styles.

Clerk loved her job and was good at it. She sat me down and said let me pick you out several pairs that I think will look great on you

Of course, I was doubtful. Darned if she didn’t come up with several options (shapes & colors) I’d have never tried on. Difficult to pick out just one.

No idea plus members get 20% off entire pre tax amount. Only issue is I need to submit bill to insurance company myself for my reimbursement allowance. Can’t wait for them to come in woohoo!

Yay for finding glasses you do like, Keisha. Yep, that discount works on both my glasses and contacts. I only really keep my Sam’s plus membership, is that their gas station is the closest of the big box stores. I prefer the gas station at Costco, but both of the two near me, are twice as far as Sam’s is to us.

Full with salad and pizza we had. Late dinner. So I was hungry. Probably ate a little too much, but both were delicious. Now beached and trying to figure out what to watch. And hehe, DH asked again, is it a lazy Friday for me. Why yes, it is. And I’ll be staying up a little later, though maybe not that late. Have a bank stop and a quick grocery stop as my most have to do tomorrow.

Lazy starting now. And ahhh, made myself a mug of tea. AC heard on for a while, but cool enough now. 63 out, and while more clouds in sky, they are not rain clouds, those streaky and slightly puffy white ones. And low of 52 from 4 am to 6 am makes me happy, that I won’t be out at those hours, tomorrow early morning.

Hope all have a most peaceful night.

Good morning. I am ready to put this week behind me and hopefully move on to more pleasant things.
I will be stuck at home most of the day today. I just dropped my car off at the mechanic for an oil change, tire rotation, and transmission flush.

I found a good price on a flight for my November trip, but it would involve leaving Roanoke at 7:00 am and returning close to midnight. I think I will pass for now. I wouldn’t object to leaving at 7 if I flew from my home airport which is only a 10 minute drive from my house.

Time for breakfast and figure out what I want to do today.

Do they tend to switch up the released schedules in your market?

I’m trying to decide on a hotel on harbor blvd, located within a 10 min walk of DL. Have never even ventured past the gates that way!

Even with the 25% promotion, the onsites are 150% more this go around. Nothing DVC open either.

As good of a time as any to try something new. ;)

Anybody have any favorites located within walking distance they can share?

I’m not really sure. I’ve only flown from my home airport twice and the first time dh had made the reservations. I am looking for the best value that will have me in Orlando before the hotel shuttle stops running.

I have only stayed at the Tropicana and The Anaheim Hotel. Both were good, clean, basic hotels within a short walking distance. Nothing fancy. My one complaint with the Tropicana is that they didn’t have sufficient parking. I think the rooms at the Anaheim were larger.

When are you going to DL?

Can’t help ya much, Keisha. We have only stayed first at the Disney Hotel, then last time, at the GC. Next time we decide out there, may try Pixel Place, as across street from GC, and is a renamed budget Disney hotel. May want to look at Mary’s website, she does cover DL as to discounts and info. Thought one time we were thinking of not staying onsite, looked at the Howard Johnson, as easy walk to parks. Also, did you see Disney Visa discounts on their hotels out there?

Did our bank run, then picked up bagels from that bagel and sandwich store, so toasted bagels with eggs, and bacon for me, sausage for the rest of family, though all ate bacon, and choice of cheese. I took a sharp cheddar slice for my sandwich. Tasty. And ooh, while still a little cool out then, 67 said the outdoor thermometer. But glorious, clear blue skies. After older one leaves, told little one, maybe a Target run. We shall see.

Most Fabulous Friday to all. Woot! The month of June starts this weekend. Loading…..

When are you going to DL?
Well, was supposed to be beginning or middle of September to include USH & knotts Halloween activities

Then, I realized big race at DL weekend that first weekend in sept and gay days the next ( have been there same time in past, nice crowd but, so busy). Offsite hotel rates take a big bump thru Halloween

Trying to snag the elusive oogie boogie tix. Would have 3 chances of dates last week in August.

If HM doesn’t actually reopen by 8/24, will likely postpone whole thing to next fall. Focus of trip TBH

Hojo is one I was looking at, the blogs away from highway. Seems a little bit of a longer walk? Since just adults, not sure with it’s mini water park along with the other larger property, would offer a quiet pool option that would work for us

I don’t expect a grand pool, just something bigger than a bathtub some seem to have lol. it is a necessity for us anywhere to rest a bit there for a break as neither of us are nappers

Going to research the Grand legacy (old Ramada), anaheim Camelot & Fairfield (more my style TBH, haven’t stayed in a motor court sort of place since a child lol).

Any help I’m all ears. Haven’t been out there since 2018

We have enjoyed DLH a handful of times. It’s my favorite there, being seeped in Disney lore.

I want to like GCV more than I do. Think because we own @WL & AK, I’m not as wowed by the similar design features, at a hefty point cost lol. DVC bldg a bit of a hike to lobby & park entrance there too

Pixar is now running more than DLH many nights, imagine that! People seem to love the redesign. I like where their entrance to park is located.

It’s a bucket list sort of thing for the Mr to try staying on Harbor, especially as to being near the food options there.

Happy Friday :cheer2:

Woke to a cold, wet windy Friday. It seems the rain cleared away - but that darn wind just won't go away. Still cool - I'm still wearing a light hoodie/sweater when I head outside. It just isn't warm - or I am getting old ;)

Went to nieces play last night. It was the production of their own work from a drama club she is involved in. They came up with the story - the lines - scenes - EVERYTHING!!!! This was the best one yet. It was a funny take on Sherlock Holmes. They even had pre-recorded " scenarios" that were the other investigators thoughts on how and who the real criminal was! They did a great job. The audience was laughing the whole time.

Dh texted me pictures of youngest ds's car being hauled away today. He was in a small accident 2 weeks ago. He wasn't hurt - but our car was written off. It was an old 2005 Sunfire - not worth any money - so we only have comprehensive ( I think that's what they call it ) so that if he was ever in an accident - that the other vehicle would be fixed under insurance - but no coverage on ours. Today - we hauled it away. Dh had it towed to the house until insurance was settled and we took the stereo and command start out of it to use on my old wheel and older ds's truck. Sad day - as that car went through 2 new drivers and had a lot of memories - since both boys were the oldest of their friends driving and would pack the car with all their friends and drive to school.

Initially, felt stuck, couldn’t roll off it. My charming DSs were quite amused when one mused that I looked like a turtle on its back. Cannot say I recommend it. Having sons, that is…ha ha ha ha. JK love them, even when they pile on lol
Lol....that would be the same in our house. The boys and dh keep me on my toes and have problems picking on Mom ::yes:: Life with boys - and I wouldn't change a thing!
Son, dil and baby arrive tomorrow and can’t wait to see them
That is so exciting. Enjoy allllllllllllllllllllll the snuggles!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is the best. I wish I could describe that feeling when you pick up your grandchild!
Clerk loved her job and was good at it. She sat me down and said let me pick you out several pairs that I think will look great on you
That is awesome when you have great customer services like that! Hopefully that business knows that clerk's worth and pays her to match that! Those types of employees are hard to find! There is nothing worse than people who are in jobs that they are clearly NOT made for.

Well, I should go shuffle a few more papers around. Have a staff meeting this afternoon ( can you hear my eye rolling into the back of my head ) that I need to get set up for.

Have a great day everyone!!!!
