someone teach me about shutters

wouldn't it be easier for DCL to use the Photopass card system that WDW uses in the parks? the idea of flipping through hundreds of photos isn't sounding too appealing right now.

ham53: I am looking forward to my first chance at photopass, but wish they had something like it onboard. In reality though, you don't really "flip through hundreds of photos" The photos are set in slots with the name of the event at the top of the racks. You then look through the racks for your phots, and usually, they may stack variety of poses together, but the only photos stacked are within your family. Not sure if I am explaining it, but it is more enjoyable than just flipping thru photos.

We're cruising a different line in July in Hawaii--it is my understanding that they offer a photo package for $200 you can buy EVERY photo a family member is in. I can just see me trying to have DD monopolize the photographer to get the best value from this. (just kidding)

I'm sorry, but I don't quite "get" the punch card thing. I understand you buy a package up front and somehow designate which pictures you want included in your package as the cruise progresses, but where does the punch card come in? Sorry, but having never cruised before I'm clueless.

Also-- how likely is it that your kids/family get included in a candid shot? Other than posed character photos or family portraits, will there really be enough pictures to choose from for a package? We'll be traveling with 2 kids. Just wondering since I much prefer candid shots over posed ones.

Thanks!

You buy the punch card and then each time you visit Shutters and take a picture, they punch your card. You just keep it with you or grab it before going to Shutters. Saves alot of time, as you are not charging the pics to your room each time you go. Just get your picture, show your card, they punch it and your on your way. It is pretty simple.

Also, there are several times that they are around on the ship taking candids. Usually at the pools and on Castaway Cay. I am not sure if they go to the kids club unless there is a character there. Last cruise, my DD was in the club when Daisy Duck was there and they took her picture with her. The club gave us that picture for free. It was a nice surprise. If you see a CM with a camera, just stop them and ask them to take a picture of your child/children. They are more than happy to snap those pictures!

Going on our first cruise in April...can someone please explain what you do with 10-20 of these pictures around your home, I mean, do you frame them all or do you just put them in your photo album? I probably will see why you purchase so many, but do you really need this many to hang on the walls?

I found a wall frame at Kohl's that holds three 6x8 pictures. I have that hanging on the wall in the breakfast nook and then I bought one of the frames onboard for the rest of the pictures. I just keep them all in there and periodically change which one is in front. We bought a 10 picture package and we were only on a 4 day. I can't imagine how many we will buy on the 7 day

macphrsn,

I posted this earlier in the thread, but here it is again:

when we sailed in October the packages were as follows:

10 6x8 photos $84.95
15 6x8 photos $119.95
20 6x8 photos $149.95

I have heard that they recently made a larger package, I think 30 pics, but could be mistaken. They do not offer any packages for the 8 1/2 x 10 photos.
