The last company I worked for, the owner actually banned all popcorn from the premises. It happened after one of my coworkers burnt their popcorn so bad, they had to replace the microwave. They couldn't get the smell out. The company owner even went so far as to contact the vending machine people and tell them not to stock the machines with popcorn.

Watch out for "popcorn lung"...microwave popcorn gives off nasty fumes which can cause lung problems.

There was a story in the news recently about a man, who was a real popcorn fanatic & ate several bags of the microwavable stuff a day. He developed "popcorn lung" and of, course sued the company....

Right now, it has set off a coughing fit that has lasted about 15 minutes.

OMG, my mom made popcorn last & burned it. It stunk up the whoooole house. Still stinky today---yuck!

After I posted about "popcorn lung", I found a more recent article about it. It seems that as of October 07, the popcorn companies have decided to remove the offending chemical from their products, but it will take until the end of January for all of the old stock to be consumed & replaced.

Besides the 1 consumer I had read about, I found that many workers in the popcorn factories had developed "popcorn lung" from the chemical, too.

How can these chemicals be put in our food so easily... especially a product so many children eat??
