How busy typically is the first week of May? We prefer to go in January, but will be unable to for this upcoming trip. We need to go after January 2018 and before May 18, 2018 (my little one turns 3).

Can someone tell me what to expect in terms of heat and crowd sizes?

Just noting that if your child is turning 3 on the date of May 18,
if your trip begins as late as May 17, the child will still not need a ticket through the end of that trip.

Although it can vary, it can be very hot and humid at that time (especially compared to January.)
Average crowd level.
It starts to pick up in May as some school years come to an end.

We are usually there the first week of May (will be there last week of April this year) and we love it. It's hot, but certainly not as bad as it can get mid-summer, and the crowds are manageable. With good FP+ choices, you probably won't wait more than 30 minutes in line for a popular attraction.

I've gone early May many times. Hot but not as humid as summer, little rain. Crowds were not bad.

We went in May 13 to May 18 in 2014 and the crowds and weather were both great. We had in the past only gone in the Spring break time so it was a treat for us.

We went last year from April 25 - May 2 and thought the crowds were fine. Weather was in the 90s but it was nice right before we got there and after we left.

Recommend checking touring plans for just for historical crowd data.

We were there last trip the first week of May (5/2-9) and it was wonderful. 80s but not humid, only rained once. Cheerleaders were leaving the day we checked in, but summer vacation hadn't started yet. I would love to go back again that week, but with school it's a bad time of year to go.
