I have known for a couple of days now that a mice has been roaming around my kitchen , well, today dh came down to make coffee at 5:15 am and saw the little creeper run from my fridge area into underneath the couch!!:earseek: then he decides to wake me up and give me the wonderful news!
ACCCKKKK, what am I supposed to do??? turn up the couch when the cat is in the house later on ( my cat goes out at nights , if you don't let him out nobody will sleep past 4 am ) and hopefully he will catch it!!
OK the cat is staying in the house from now on at nights until this creeper is gone!
I can't sleep now , so I am DISing at 5:30 am.....the house is very quiet except....there's a mice under my couch, yikes!!!!
Please someone come get this thing out of here, HELP!!!

I had 1 (or more) inside my house a few years ago. Had to get an exterminator. Never actually came inside the house but it did climb to the 2nd floor and I could hear it inside DSs bedroom wall!
Get an exterminator quick!

Imgoingtodisney;
the problem is we had some holes in the basement that were open for a long time, we never remembered to seal them because we never had this problem before but just two days ago I went out and sealed them with steal wool, someone said they don't get through that but if the mice is living in the house somewhere we don't know so my next thing is to start putting poison and mouse traps with peanut butter in the kitchen at nights and try to catch that sucker. I'm a woman with a mission now, but one mission that I don't like! yikes!!

I hate those little suckers! ( Accept Mickey of course!) good luck!!

Mice are my BIGGEST FEAR and the main reason I have cats! Word is out in my neighborhood, the insects AND the rodents KNOW I have four cats! ...hey, don't go in there! Ya won't come out alive!

Can you let the cat stay in at night for a few days? I can't imagine letting my cats out, they stay in the house 24/7!

I'd offer to send you my cat, but she'd just play with it. She knows how to catch animals without doing physical damage and enjoys her toys.

Peanut butter is the way to go, though. I hear it's more irresistable to mice than cheese. Best of luck!

I'll trade you your mouse for whatever is living up in my attic...I am terrified to go up there and find out, but it is having fun at night, I can tell you that.....

I hate mice, but I am used to them from where I work....

Get some snap traps...bait them with peanut butter...mice will hit them, they love peanut butter.

Glo, yours sounds like squirrels.....I had those before....they sure do have a good time, don't they :teeth:

we had to remove the tree that was against the house, it did work. It was huge tree and we happened to be taking it down anyway to create more sun for the pool.
You could just remove the branches that come close to the house, if that is how yours are getting in.

Or you could try moth balls..we did that for awhile...can't remember if it worked or not

Before we actually got rid of them we got some down in the house. OMG that thing went running everywhere....we finally caught it when it landed in the toilet :teeth:
and it couldn't get out

If you go with an exterminator, make sure he is aware you have a cat. You don't want your cat to be harmed if he eats a sick mouse. Good luck.

Glo, my friend had a racoon nesting in her attic. She kept hearing it skittering across the attic at night. Finally, she had someone come with a live trap to catch and release it away from her neighborhood.

I can feel your pain. We just got rid of mice in our house. It's terrifying. We had one final one about two weeks ago. Stephen didn't tell me he had seen another one, he just quietly set the trap. I found it dead in the middle of the great room floor. Totally freaked me out. Mine was carrying an oozie, is yours. I was sure he was bent on murder (we actually had 4, as awful at that is!)

Hope you get rid of the pesky critter (or critters, as the case may be).

I had a field mouse many years ago, that decided that he was going to hibernate in my rubber tree plant (he killed that poor plant).

I finally used peanut butter and an old fashioned mouse trap and he went to mouse heaven.

Peanut butter works very well with mouse traps :)

My cat is an inny-outy too for the very same reason you have. At 4 or so Boots wants out. But we have to put her in the outside shop because we have coyotes in the neighbor roaming at night and I don't want one to get her. Alas we too have mice problems in the fall and in the spring. We had one get in our vent system and this one mouse sounded like a herd of elephants. I assume it finally went somewhere. Never did catch it. Good luck!

We had mice in our pantry. We live in a split level and they come in thru the crawl space. Luckily I've never seen them!!! Just their droppings and this time they ate a Fruit Rollup?!?!

We called the exterminator and he put out some of those poison pellets, they ate ALOT from 2 of the MANY places we put the poison. Haven't seen any evidence of them since.

Now I just have to get DH to go in the crawl space to remove the bodies we assume are there.....bleah..........

Good luck!

eeeeeeeek, I feel your pain :( We've had a little mouse in our kitchen for 3 weeks now. We used a safe trap lined with peanut butter to catch the last one and safely disposed of him in the woods miles away, but that one must've told all his pals about the trap because this mouse won't go anywhere near it! Good luck!

This one seems to go solo for now and if it got into the house after I plugged the holes with steelwool , then I don't know how he's getting in, I think he's just in the house but I don't know where.
I will keep the cat inside tonight and for the next few nights , see if he's succesful to catch it.
I flipped the couch and I can tell you he does get into the bottom of the foot rests ( there's a big opening there so he can freely go in and out and I found "evidence" too ) but nothing was there. two more nights and if the cat doesn't catch it, the traps will!
Please pray that this is the only one, as small as those things are I hate them!!
