I am going to Disneyland for the first time next fall; an online friend was planning on going with her family at the same time, but to Disney World. She was debating Disneyland anyway, and would like some help convincing her husband to switch, so that we can finally meet up.

Any thoughts?? What elements can we use to show him why Disneyland would be great?

This may not be a draw for everyone, but I like the fact that it is the original. It is the park that Walt built, and even today you can still feel that magic.

For more practical reasons, it is smaller and easier to traverse than WDW. There are no busses to take to park hop.

Did you tell him its Hurricane season??? :)

and its super hot and humid??? like 110F everyday??? in Hurricane season??? :D

At WDW there is no Matterhorn.
The ride experience on space mountain and pirates of the carribbean at DL are far superior to their cousins at WDW.
I feel that DL has more charm that the magic kindom at WDW.

2 minute walk from one park to the other.

Lots more live entertainment.

90+ degrees and raining - doesn't happen EVER.

Attractions are all within 2 very close parks - no need to wait for a bus to go to the park that has Fantasmic.

Downside - the choice of restaurants at Disneyworld is much greater.

There are also more choices of offsite hotels which are competitive in price that are also very close proximity to the resort as opposed to WDW, where the hotels are farther away and require shuttles, etc. to get to the resort.

Also there is more personal Disney family history at DLR.

How many days are they planning for their trip. I feel that you need a week to do WDW at a normal pace. DL/DCA can be done in 3 or 4 days at a normal pace.

I agree with the previous posters in reference to the heat/humidity and travel time between the parks, along with staying off site.

I was surprised to find that with a DLR package you could book trips to other parks, like Legoland and US. Would he been interested in trying one of these? I convinced my son to try DLR by bribing him with Legoland!
