Someone just asked me if I was pregnant!

To the OP, I understand your situation completely.

When I was working, I was the only single woman in the company and at least once a month I was asked when I was going to have a baby (and they all knew about my social anixety). My boss at the time even asked me if I would ever be providing grandkids for my parents to enjoy since her daughter-in-law had given birth to her 3rd child.

I just tended to tell them that I would have them when I was ready for them and that day hadn't arrived just yet!

A good rule of thumb is to never assume a woman is pregnant unless the child is actually emerging from her body at that exact moment.

Well, it happened to me again today. It's the first time since I lost my 30lbs. I'm taking progesterone injections following IVF (hopefully this lady was right!) and they make my stomach a little bloated. I'm still fitting in the same size clothing as a few weeks ago, so it can't be that significant. Uncomfortable for me right now, since I'm still waiting for results.

 You never ever ever ask a woman if she's pregnant. Even if she looks like she's about to pop. :scared1:

:thumbsup2 Excellent advice! A woman I know had a baby a few months ago and I heard a coworker ask if she was expecting again. :sad2: And, no, she wasn't--I felt so badly for her, it was obvious to me that she just hadn't lost all the baby weight yet. I wanted to tell the coworker, "Give the woman a break!"

Now I nearly had a coronary in the doctor's office the other day when my doctor asked if I was trying to conceive. :scared1: I just sent my kid to college this week, I'm 46 and DH is 57. I practically yelled, "NO WAY!" :rotfl:

Trying to get someone fired over something so relatively innocuous boggles my mind. You must work with some gems if you're spending so much time covering for them and correcting their mistakes. That would bother me a lot more than a comment that could be blown off.
I agree. These kinds of comments can be blown off so easily unless there are insecurity issues involved that makes the responder to a comment overreact.

I've been asked if I was pregnant before by coworkers and my answers have ranged from "no" to "If I am, it won't be for long" depending on who's doing the asking (sometimes it's fun to rile up the right-to-lifers  ).

But I guess it all comes down to your own personal self-esteem. Mine is tip-top so if someone asks a question like that I'm not usually bothered. YMMV.
