Glad its sorted. It happened to DH a few yrs ago - his card was cloned at a Petrol Station and they did trace where it had taken place (cant remember how they traced it though) so you may eventually find out. I suppose the important thing is you've got your money back

If I were you I would check if the card details were given rough a card or whether they were keyed into the machine. I have a credit card machine in my shop and everytime someone uses a card in store I obviously get a slip with the credit card number / expiry etc on it, the only information that isn't on the slip is the 3 digit security code from the back of the card. I could still key the numbers in though and pay for things if I were a thief, I don't have to key the security code - so I am wondering if that is what happened to you. Incidentally, DH and I lock everything in the safe after a transaction so there is no chance of that happening in our store!

They could find out exactly how they got your details if they dig deep enough. We had our debit card cloned at a auto bank outside our local tescos so did quite a few other people needless to say we have never withdrawn cash from there since and always try to use internal autobanks that are not accessable at night. We have also bought a ticket for easyjet and computer equipment off the internet worth £1500!!!!!!!

Cash machines are high targets for criminals with what is called the 'lebanese loop'. If you use a cash amchine check to make sure it is all in order and that it hasn't been tampered with.
