What do you think/speculate the points per night will be? Looking at BLT Theme Park view studio for early December, it is 23 pts/night for a weekend room. I'm thinking GFV studio will START at around 23 pts/night. What do you think?

I'm booking my home resort right now as a back up, but I'm doing a split stay so I'd like to reserve the "right" room in order to later drop it to use these points for GFV. Hope that makes sense.

I would guess the the GFV will be a little higher then BLT. I am going out on the limb on that one though.:confused3

I think it will be higher than BLT because Disney considers GF to be their flagship resort, so their DVC rooms would be priced accordingly. I'd add more a couple of more points on to those figures.

Thanks everyone.

I checked Aulani's studios...and it's 26/pts a night for an Oceanview studio for low season.

That seems more likely on par w/GFV for low season, right? Or maybe not...there's always specials running for Aulani...Hmmm....

2 views that roughly match up to BLT. Likely Standard and Lake view at the same points levels. We should know fairly soon, at least by around mid March.

You do know that there are reports that GF will NOT be part of DVC.
So to stay there you must own points there.

I'm not aware there are any credible reports to that point. As new resorts have become announced, the legal paperwork for purchases always states that new resorts may not be part of DVC. It could happen but it has been announced as a DVC resort and to be part of the current club, club members have to have access for any declared portions. I'll bet you my ownership against yours that it is part of the current DVC.

Then the flipside would be true, GFV owners could not stay at other DVC resorts. That would be a hard sell.

When is GFV supposed to be open for reservations??
I don't think I've seen any rumors for a sales opening date or reservation dates or any credible rumors for the models to be open. My guess is sales around early March to mid April and reservations for owners there about a month later with other DVC members being able to reserve about 2 weeks after that. Rumors for the resort opening would put it about Nov and that's consistent with the press releases.

GFV will be part of DVC. They even mentioned it at the annual meeting not more than 3 weeks ago. All resorts while in construction have always maintained the caveat that they may never be part of DVC before they actually go on sale.

As to points unless there are rooms that can be designated something more than lake view, my guess is that they will be close to, although possibly a little higher than, BLT lake and standard view and not as high as BLT theme park view. Disney has two ways to significantly increase the price per unit for a new resort over a prior one, by raising number of points per unit and thus raise the total sold per unit, and thus also raise number of points needed per night, or raising price per point. They have already done the latter for GFV which will likely be priced close to the current BLT price. What has happened over the last two years or so is that they have greatly increased the price of BLT in increments even though it was mostly sold out during that time, with the likely objective that they could sell GFV next year at a price that does not actually look like a significant increase because it will be the same as or just a little higher than what BLT is now.

Like others, I disagree w/this. Because then GFV owners then cannot book into other DVC resorts. DVD would lose one major selling point: flexibility. New DVC members would see this exclusivity as a penalty and not a perk. Hey you can buy into GFV and never go anywhere else!

Also--limiting GFV only to GFV owners would mess up the timeshare system (in layman's terms, I am not Dean) b/c there is no way that the resort can be/will be 100% booked 100% of the time if it's just owners booking. Then DVC will turn extra rooms over to sell for cash reservations, which would compete with the hotel side, etc. Why would they do that to themselves?

They will "limit" the number of ppl trading into GFV by raising the points per night for GFV and obviously, by the number of villas available--that's my belief anyway. It will be just like VGC--hard to get in unless you own there, but not impossible.

IMO and in looking at BLT points and current points needed for GF hotel, the studios will probably be some cross between the points needed to reserve a BLT Theme Park View and what's needed to reserve a GF hotel room. The GF hotel room points would be the cap. Otherwise, why would anyone buy into GFV (ignoring the kitchen aspect of it).
