Someone explain HHN to me....might surprise husband.

Acckkk, now DS mentions that he doesn't want to be a 'wimp' but that he doesn't want to go with his dad 'next year' to HHN. They don't know I've already purchased tickets, now what LOL He was saying all week how it was cool and how neat it all looked....etc, I really should have known better though.....ugghhh.

Guess I can drop all of them off at a Disney kid's club and go with DH....even though it'll be HORRIBLE LOL

I've never done the kids clubs though....hmmm, guess I'll need to start researching all of that.

how old is your son?
if he is 17-18, he should go and will survive it.
i have never been freaked out at hhn and have been going since 2000

i'm only answering your question since you asked.
i think 14 is too young but i don't know your son.
each parent has to make their own decision on that.

to do any rip tours, if a person is 18 /under, they can only be in it with a parent or guardian.

that might give you an idea on how universal feels about it.

i know some of the posters have taken 12 year olds with them and they had no issues at all. but, the kids really wanted to go and did fine.

if the teen is eager and excited and wants to attend hhn with his dad, it should work out.

if he insists on not going due to the fear factor, that is a decision for you to make.
only a parent knows how their kids will react to horror events.

have him watch some of the youtube videos and see if that is any measure of what to do. just a suggestion.

i try to stay out of situations when posters talk about taking their kids to hhn.

i do have an opinion and will keep it to myself as it is not my child we are asking about.
it is a decision for the parents to make together.
watch the videos, see some of the links in this forum threads about hhn and ask your son if he can handle it.

i just thought of something.

if your son does not go to hhn, why don't you go with your husband and meet up with the other hhn homies on sept 26?

metro has a thread for doing a mini meet up.
they will encourage you on the houses and zones.

if a house is just too frightening for you, he would have some others to go thru the house with. you could meet him on the exit of the house then.

just a thought.

Don't give up...maybe he'll change his mind. :thumbsup2

I actually bought tickets for the 3rd of October.....so the 26th wouldn't match up. I really knew better about my son...he's a lot like me (but tries to act macho for the guys LOL). He was excited and kept saying that it was cool and stuff...but again, I guess I was just wishful thinking that he'd fill in for me. My mom lives there in St Cloud, so I could have her watch them all....but pushing 5 kids on anyone is a BIG thing LOL so I figured I'd just see about the kids clubs. Sadly I don't think that the oldest 2 are young enough for the clubs, and the clubs don't stay open long enough :(

I have to figure out the back up plan before we go.....because again, my oldest son is a lot like me and he'll go and play 'tough' just because I've already spent the money on the tickets, and dad will try to 'talk him in to it'....so again, I don't want that to happen.

If nothing else, he can go by himself.....my DH that is :) and the second tickets will just be a loss....still better than losing out on both of them though.

Thanks for the insight on the ages....that makes me feel a lot better about 'treating him like a baby' LOL, I always feel overprotective.....so him going to something like this is a stretch for me too, glad Universal's guidelines agree though! I'll figure out something :)

Alright....watched some YouTube videos from last year and NO WAY!!!! My ds can't go....those are some gory houses!

So now I had to just break down and tell DH the surprise....because we have to figure something out.

Are the scare zones throughout Universal? I mean, if my son went....are there other things to do or do you have to face gory and scary stuff at every corner?

Ugghhh, this is what I get for trying to surprise him LOL

there will be 6 scare zones so not many places to hide from the scareactors.
some rides will be open but that wouldn't take 5.5 hours to fill up.

why don't you take the kids to the cinema in city walk and do a couple of movies that night and have husband do hhn? that way you all will be in the same area type of thing. and he could call it a night after he does the houses then meet up with you.

maybe thru the threads you can find someone that will join your hubby that needs ticket.

did you check out the thread when others are going?
maybe that will help.

worse case senario, hubby takes the mears shuttle from disney to universal for hhn. he goes alone and you and the kids do mnsshp at disney or seaworld. sw has a great kids halloween adventure. not sure of the dates for sw but it's a thought.

Thanks :) We're actually already doing the MNSSHP the night before....so hubby is participating in that with us :) I didn't think about the cinema....wonder how long they are open and what kind of movies they play? My little ones will be really really tired and probably sleep through the movies...but still, we stay till park closings at Disney so they would be fine and that way hubby wouldn't really be 'alone'.
