Okay, maybe I am just going through US/IOA withdrawals, (I really wish I was there right now), but trips reports are written to entertain, inform, and elighten. I posted my trip report at another board and it was totally stepped on and put down by a reader. I felt compelled to respond, which I did, and then I yanked the report off their sight without hesitation. (I may actually put it back, because many other viewers found it very helpful). First I was criticized for putting the report in their Orlando board, (They do not have a Universal/IOA trip forum as you do here), so I put it in the Orlando board. Where else was I suppose to put it? If that wasn't bad enough, This person told me in his comments that my report was too personal, although it did contain useful info, he did not need to read about my experiences at the airport, which by the way were very brief comments. He said much more;

I was appalled, :guilty: but then I put on a happy face, :flower: when I thought about all of you guys here and how graciously you complimented my report. Much of my trip was planned around reading the many entertaining reports at the DIS boards. This is why I will forever visit this board, with questions, comments, and hopefully many many trip reports to come. TWO THUMBS UP to all of you!!!! The nerve of some folks! But then again, he was just jealous, because he was not there to experience all the excitement as we did! HEHEHEHE :D

Ummm, I mean this with respect but big deal if someone didn't like you TR, not everyone is going to like everything you do.

How sad that that person couldn't have just clicked off your review and went about doing something else. Some people just feel the need to put people down to make themselves feel better. I admit that I read your review, it was a good one btw, but I skimmed past the parts that I wasn't as interested in. It doesn't make your review bad in any way and I would NEVER think to tell anyone what they should omit. Many things can be of value to some and boring to others . With every review there are things I'm interested in and things I skim past. You really shouldn't worry about what other online people think. You can make them disappear with one click.........thats better then in real life. ;)

Take care and please don't let some out spoken fool ruin your day.

That's awful. :( I like reading about peoples' personal experience...it tells something about the person posting, so you can relate to them and their opinions on things going on during their trip. Wow...I probably wouldn't post my trip reports either...if they're worried about things being too personal. I had a funny experience where I was jokingly singing "Beans beans a musical fruit" in a bathroom at a Disney hotel (don't ask!!!)...I can't imagine what they'd have to say to THAT  But especially if I found something frustrating, or absolutely hilarious I like to share it. 1) shows how situation was handled. If somebody at a certain restaurant was rude, I'd like to know so I could avoid them. 2) If something was funny, share the fun! May not mean as much to US, but we like hearing things that show that somebody was having a good time....and that's all that matters in trip reports, IMHO. :)

:scratchin

I can see why you'd be bothered by these negative comments. Trip reports are just that. . . "trip reports".
It sounds like someone was having a bad day. . . don't let it get to you.

Have a good day!

:grouphug:

With dis support,

Sandra

I'm not really bothered by it, I really just wanted to vent! But you are right about skipping the parts that you are not interested in, or just don't read them at all. Thats what I do to. But it did not ruin my day!!! :cool1:

Some forums are made up of people who do nothing but put others down.
And on top of it, they're in a little clique that make fun of others.
An example of this is the forums over on CoasterBuzz, a message board I call CFB. Guess what the F stands for. They once banned me, and then I trashed them in the newsgroup RRC over and over. They thought I would go away, but instead I became their worst nightmare.

If people on a forum are putting you down, it's the admins responsibility to stop it. If that doesn't happen, don't post there, and the forum will die.

Sorry to hear about your experience....

You know what they say.. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all..

I enjoy reading trip reports, and since everyone always puts a lot of effort and time into them I would never dream of criticizing them in anyway. I guess the DIS is just a lot more friendly than the "real-world" of internet message boards.

Please don't let someone's negative comments deter you from posting trip reports. Many people (myself included) love reading trip reports and get valuable information from them. I love reading them as they bring back some of my own memories and experiences. Some make me laugh, some are VERY informative and give me ideas for what we should do on our next trip.

As others have said, some people just have nothing better to do or are so miserable that all they can do is criticize other people. Don't let them get to you. And keep posting. The good folks and nice posts outweigh the bad!
