Looks like we won't be able to hit Universal Studios to check out HP during our Disney stay. I was really looking forward to it but the cost is just too much. Ive been to Universal Studios about 2 years ago and it was pretty cool. Plus we are both HP fans. I love Disney (much more than US) but still... Kind of sucks.

Do some of you hit both, US and Disney during the same trip? Or do you go to one and some months later do the other?

We have never gone to Florida and only done only one. Flying all the way from Canada it only makes sense to stay for a decent length of time. So we usually do 7 days at WDW and 2 at US.

I'm sorry. Have you thought this through completely, though? You said you are coming to the US. Is it worth it to come all the way here from wherever you are and NOT send another 200ish for something you are passionate about? I'd give up a couple of nice dinners if it meant that much to me.

I wasn't very supportive, was I? Just think of the BIG picture. What's a bit more money at that point?

Depends how Harry Potter obsessed you are. You can certainly have a fine time without doing Universal. They are completely different experiences...

I went to HP for opening weekend last year and then disney for 6 days after that. LOVED HP. We are going back in August for sale deal - 1 night at US, 2 days HP/US then back to disney for 5 days. DD12 loved US and it is more her speed nowadays than disney...so it is a must do for us now...I would try to swing it. Can you get rid of something at disney to fre eup some money? Park hoppers, et

We love Disney and US all the same. We usually make separate trips in (live in TX) for each experience. We have been 4 times to visit the HP experience since it opened, and IMHO it is ABSOLUTELY worth missing a few Disney days to go and see what Harry Potter has to offer. We are actually heading in for our US trip in August and since we haven't been to Disney since January we are going to swing on over there for 2 days and get our MK and HS fix. I know it's an added expense but if you don't make the trip to FL every year then it just might be worth that extra $$. IF your kids are into Harry Potter in even the smallest amount you will be glad you gave them the chance to experience the books coming to life before them.

I totally empathize. Whole family of HP fans here (DH, DD7 and I were all reading the series at the same time a couple of months ago, and we've all seen the first six movies about 10 times each). I'd love, love, love to see WWHP but going to US is just not feasible for us this trip. Since DD7 & DD6 have never been to WDW, we're really focusing on those parks this trip; it was so cheap to keep adding days to our MYW tickets vs. adding a day or two at US.

I've just tried to focus on the positives about skipping US--big money savings means we can dine and buy more at WDW; we don't have to fight the traffic to get to US; more time at WDW; less time I have to spend researching parks (finally got the four WDW parks figured out, I hope, but two more would've killed me); and DDs will enjoy HP so much more when we go in (hopefully) two years and they've seen all eight movies. Plus, hopefully it won't be such a novelty by then and crowds will have died down.

Enjoy your WDW vacation!

I haven't thought about cutting anything out. Interesting concept.

We only go to US every 4th or 5th time we go. Like everything else it will be there for your next trip. Enjoy the one you have planned.

I decided to just do Disney in April '11. I got a free Dining PIN. 5 nights/6 days. I'm going to upgrade my ticket to an AP. Later in the year early December '11 I'm going back to Orlando but this time staying at one of the Universal resorts so I can take advantage of the perks and get into HP early. I can still drop by Disney for a day or two and since I have my AP it will be kind of a free trip to Disney. Not to mention I'm training for the Princess Half Marathon in Feb. '11. So it just so happens this plan works for me.

We want to skip out on Disney for a day and go to US..but with 8 of us.. the price is just too prohibitive for one day.. we are all huge HP fans but there is no way i can justify that added expense..

I'm going to Florida just for Harry Potter. Because it is so expensive to get there and really a one day experience, we are going to Disney World as a bonus. We just cut Disney down to four days.

We always do both. We are passholders for both Disney World and US/IOA. Being a passholder makes it easier.

I'm in the same boat. We're considering going to Universal but I would want to do both parks in one day. That means we would have to get express passes so that one day would be in the $450 range for us. I remember IoA was so much fun though. I'm still considering it but may check out the Space Center instead.

I haven't been to Universal yet...DD is finally tall enough to ride everything at Disney. We'll go to US when she's tall enough there..their height requirements are much higher!

HP is awesome!!! We went last Aug.. We got our tickets on e-bay for alot cheaper. Have you checked e-bay out? They have coupons on there too sometimes or tickets you can buy. We have bought tickets on there a couple of times and they were always fine. It is something to see!!!

We haven't been to US/IOA for several years and have no intention of returning. While there are many people who love US/IOA, we are not of that group. Lines too long, lousy waits, no benefits if you aren't staying on property, no FP, mile walk to the park gates and I have seen very little positive about wait times for HP inlcuding having to wait to get into the area to wait for the attractions. No thank you! We choose to spend our $$ at Disney and we've been going for 12 years now and we've never had the same trip twice nor have we remotely seen and done everything that Disney has to offer. We may try Sea World or Discovery Cove one of these trips, but we have vowed never to return to US/IOA.
