We are planning a 2 week Florida trip next summer. We have never been to Vero and would like to stay a few nights there.

How many nights for Vero? There are 3 of us DH, myself and DD will be 10, so should we go for an OV Inn room or a 1 bedroom?

DD is out of school middle of June until after Labor Day. When would be the best time to go to Vero if we want to see some Turtle's?

The rest of our vacation will be at WDW. Gotta plan ahead!;)

We tried Vero for the first time this past summer. We were there for three nights at the end of June in an OVI room. Definitely get the OVI room - loved opening the slider and having coffee on the balcony. My dds - 12 & 10 loved Vero as well. We went to BCV after staying at Vero and wished we did the opposite - did Vero the last part of our trip, so we could relax after running around the parks!

We did see turtle nests, but no turtles. The eggs were due to start hatching about 10 days after we left, so the beginning of July I guess.

You will love Vero! We plan to go back again in April.

Good idea to relax after WDW. So, the beginning of July for the turtle hatching. Thanks!

Would your girls have liked to stay longer at Vero? We have been to HHI 3 times and DD loves the pool and beach. We thought Vero would be about the same.

Does Vero do campfires like HHI does? Love that Chicky Chicky Dance!;)

Yes, Vero has the campfires.

this summer we are looking to go to vero beach for 3 days at the end of our next summer trip. there is one catch though, well actually a few catches, we are not driving. we have my wife and DS#1 taking the train into orlando and myself and DS#2 fly out of MCO.

car service to vero and back to wdw. then off to the airport and then to amrtrak for the trip home. there has to be a better way to add this to our vacation. does DVC have any transportation to vero and back, i think i already know this answer, no but i hopeing that somebody has an idea other then what i had mentioned already. first check has happy limo listed as one way to vero at 170 dollars one way.

sorry for the above reply to this thread. i meant to start a new one and hit reply instead. well if the OP doesnt mind me hijacking this thread :teeth: any help would be appreciated

For a first trip, I would recommend 4 days...

We love VB... So much so that we could stay 2 weeks there and it still isn't enough..

Try and book VB AFTER your WDW trip... You may need the downtime to relax.. DW and I usually end up doing it backwards.. :rotfl:

The adult turtles are nesting during June and July. You may see baby turtles during August. We found watching the adult turtles nesting to be a "neater" experience. We had visited three straight August's in a row and only saw 2 baby turtles and the stress of watching those evil little ghost crabs make runs at them was just to much stress for me.

We love VB and my boys who have been going for 7 summers now complain when we only stay 5 nights...that being said some find the laid back atmosphere a little to laid back. For a first timer I suggest 3-4 nights and see what your family thinks.

We went to VB for the first time last year. We started at WDW for 7 nights followed by 4 nights at VB. We opted to stay in a 1BR, as there wasn't that great of reviews at the time for dining on-site at VB. Besides we love eting at WDW and thought this would be a nice change of pace. I couldn't have planned it any better than I did. We had most meals in our room and really enjoyed the extra space to relax and spread out. This was a perfect end to our trip.
