This was my 6th trip to WDW, and I think I'm finally perfecting my WDW plan
As always, I used the touring plans found in the Unofficial Guide and touringplans dot com. (They are wonderful!) However, we tinkered a little bit, and we were pretty happy with the results. The longest line we waited in all week was to ride the ToT, about 20 minutes.
AK - we got there at opening (of course!) at 9 a.m. I sent my parents (who aren't into commando style touring) to save us seats for the 9:40 show of Festival of the Lion King. They got to get some coffee and sit for a while and look over the park map. Meanwhile, the rest of us went to get FPs for Expedition Everest - what an incredibly long line just to get the FPs! It took us half an hour to get the FPs and get back to Festival of the Lion King. My parents had saved us front row seats, and yours truly got to make the elephant noise for my section.
MGM - we did the Fantasmic dinner package, and ate at the Brown Derby. Absolutely SUPERB!!! We had a really picky crew, but everyone agreed the food was some of the best we've ever had. It took us around an hour and a half to eat, so our reservations for 5:20 turned out to be not too early, as I had feared. Afterwards we walked right onto the Backlot Tour - no line at all. However, we waited until 8 p.m. to get our seat for Fantasmic - I would recommend going no later than 7:45 p.m., even with the special seating for the dinner package.
MK - I've always been a fan of leaving for lunch and returning later, and this day it worked wonderfully. We arrived at opening - 9 a.m. - and toured until 3. We went back at 7p.m. and we were able to ride 3 rides in the span of an hour - not too shabby! It left us plenty of time to save a spot for Wishes, while two out of the party went and rode one last ride. We all agreed that if we hadn't all been to MK before and known what we wanted to hit and miss, we would have definitely needed 2 days.
EPCOT - we allowed two days for EPCOT, and it couldn't have worked out better. We arrived at 2p.m. to tour the World Showcase, and we were able to get in all the countries in time for a 7:20 dinner reservation at Biergarten (gut-busting!) Again, it took us an hour and a half to eat, so this reservation could have been made for an earlier time. Only regret is that we were done eating just as Illuminations was starting, so there was no time to get a good spot. On the second day we arrived at opening and saw the attractions in Future World. My only change would be to reverse the order - make FW the day before the WS - all the walking from the WS can really tire you out for the next day!
Hope some of these tips will be useful for your next trip!!!
