Got back late last week, but just haven't had the time to read or write anything here.
A little background, we've done WDW about 8 times over the past 8 years and stayed in a variety of places, although most of them have been deluxe resorts. This was our first stay at POR.
Upon arrival around 11:30-noon on June 30th we had about a 15-20 minute wait to check in (probably not bad, but I was tired after getting up at 4 AM). The CM we dealt with was Stanley and he was very nice. He could get us into a room in AB right away, but we were hoping for a Mansion (I DID NOT fax a request this time around. I decided to just let fate take us). He could get us into a mansion, but not until later in the day. So we went with AB and he selected building 17 for us.
The room was lovely and I liked the rustic look better than I thought. (as a matter of fact when I took a quick look at our friend's room in one of the mansions, I think I preferred ours). I really liked how there were so many "nooks & crannies" in the room for storage. There was plenty of drawer space for our 8 day stay. The area for hanging clothes had a little shelf over it where I could put things and the shelf area about the 2 pedestal sinks was also helpful. I liked the ledge at the end of the tub in the bathroom too (good place for leg shaving). The shower curtain with Brer Rabbit was a nice touch too.
For most of our stay our Mousekeeper was Adelaida. While she did not do towel animals (I guess I am doomed never to see one up close and personal) she did take good care of the room, leaving extra towels, soaps, etc.
However, the 2 days Adelaida was off (everybody needs a day off!) the room was not cleaned well at all. When we returned to our room mid-day for a break the room was not done up so we went to the pool for a while. When we came back the mousekeeper was there and Divorce Court was on tv. She asked for 15 minutes, so we went for a walk and gave her about 20.
When we came back she was gone and I suppose you could consider the room "cleaned". One bed was made, one was literally half made, there was no fresh soap, less towels than usual and the place had not been vacuumed (it was noticable because I had spilled some powder earlier and it was still visible on the floor -- and yes I tried to clean it myself, but I needed a vacuum).
The following day we were out the whole day and when we came back around 8, the room had been "made up" but again had not been vacuumed, no fresh soap and no new towels (we still had 2, but the used ones had not been replaced).
We were going to complain, but the next morning as we were getting ready to leave we saw "our" mousekeeper Adelaida as we were leaving. DH asked her how often they were supposed to vacuum and she said every day. He said we hadn't been vacuumed during the 2 days she was off. Needless to say during the rest of our stay, when Adelaida was working, our room was very well taken care of (and we left notes and a tip showing our appreciation).
While I was very pleased with Adelaida, I wasn't happy with the 2 days she was away. So on July 5th I went to the front desk and spoke with Ruth at Guest Relations. I explained how happy we were with Adelaida and how our room had not really been cleaned at all while she was off. She tried to get a Mousekeeping manager for me, but no one was available. Since I was going back to the room (which had been nicely cleaned by Adelaida) she said someone would call me in 15 minutes.
2 hours later I went back to guest relations. This time I got David who got a front desk manager for me. Now not only was I mad about the 2 days when mousekeeping dropped the ball, but I was upset that no one had called me. The front desk manager apologized and took notes to give to mousekeeping. And that was that. I never did hear from mousekeeping and I have no idea if Adelaida was given the praise that we passed along or if any action was taken regarding those two days.
Now, as another note...we had friends staying in POR too. In one of the mansions. They had 2 connecting rooms. 3 adults and 3 kids. All kids were under the age of 10 (youngest being 2-1/2) so you KNOW they need towels, soaps, etc on a regular basis. There were days when they got NO MOUSEKEEPING service at all! They had to go and hunt down a mousekeeper out in the hall to get towels!
When they finally complained, they were told they would get VIP service (meaning after mousekeeping had gone in a manager would have to go and inspect everything afterwards). The day after they were told this, they returned to their room in the evening to find nothing had been done! They called and a team came out to clean right away that evening.
The next day, again nothing had been done.
They complained again and finally, after being there for over a week, they started to get their room cleaned on a regular basis.
This is not a total rant against POR. I thought it was a lovely resort, but something needs to be done at mousekeeping. If it was just me, that would be one thing. But to hear what our friends when through...

How was the rest of your POR stay? Did you see Bob perform, any food experiences at the resort?
