In looking online, I found limited information re: how corrals for the WDW half work - can someone enlighten me?

1) Based on submitted proof of time, how will I know which corral I'll fit into? Is there some sort of time breakdown chart (i.e. x time gets you into x corral) as there are for many races?
2) Are the corrals large? DH should be seeded fairly high (1:21 half time) and was wondering how many people will occupy his corral. The more people, the earlier he'll have to get there to get a closer-to-the-front starting spot.

I think that's all for now - thanks in advance for your help!

First, not sure what the break down are for each corral. To get into certain corrals you need proof of a race 10K or better I think. If you bring this to the expo you can get an "upgrade" on your corral. You can also go down a corral, just not up.
But I can tel you that Disney will slowly move you into the corrals. Corrals are pretty big especially the last one. My corrals at the Miami ING were not that big. Announcements are made at the pre race area near the band that is playing to let people know when the corrals start to open and which corrals should go and line up. You cross through and pass the tents that you put your stuff to store, racers are the only ones allowed past that area. Then they let you slowly move your way over to the corrals that are set up near the start line (this is a bit of a walk). They have gates and people set to only let you go past a certain part with your corral letter ex: A,B,C,D,F etc. I was in the back corral so I was only allowed to go that far. Then the start of the half is broken into 3 times. I think A&B start together at 6am then the next few corrals at 6:10am and then the last groups at 6:25am. The start is a bit crowded I think no matter where you start unless you are one of the ellite and are at the very front. I always feel the first half to full mile is crowded, so just relax a bit and use that as a warmup.

1. Short answer is that you won't. As far as I know, Disney does not publish a list of times for particular corrals.

2. That said, with a 1:21 placement time, that should easily put him in Corral A, if not Elite for the event. You could be looking at 1,000 people in Corral A alone, so if he's worried about his time or is trying to PR, he'll want to get to the corrals as early as possible.

Hope that helps!

I was in corral B for the half with about a half a dozen other WISHERs. I had a 2:06 proof of time to get there.

I thought the half start was great. There was plenty of room. Especially since I was slower than most of the corral and they promptly left me in the dust.

I got to the corrals almost too early but we had room to sit and wait for a while before it got crowded. Just be careful not to sit by the speakers - my ears were ringing for hours. Be sure to bring a gargbage bag or a throw away towel to sit on and it will be fine.

Thanks for the tip about the speakers :) How long were you waiting for before the race started? I'm just trying to get an idea of how early everyone heads over to the corrals.
