Some Questions for my Upcoming Trip

I am so excited to have picked dates for my next Disney trip (not until August, but exciting nonetheless.) I am currently entering the planning stages (which provides me almost as much enjoyment as the actual trip) and am trying to work some things out before I can start making ADR's. I've always found the people here to be incredibly helpful! So, here goes.

On my partner's and my last trip, we were both really sad about not having an opportunity to take the monorail at all (something I remember fondly from our childhood.) We're planning a short trip (only two nights-- we have family nearby in Sarasota and will drive down and spend just those two nights on site) but would love to fit it in somewhere. My tentative idea now is to spend the morning and early afternoon at Typhoon Lagoon, drive over to the hotel, and hopefully get an early evening reservation (7:00 or so) at Ohana, so we could watch wishes from the TTC after dinner. Is it worth parking at the TTC and taking the monorail over to Ohana? I looked at a map online and am questioning whether that is worth it/possible since it looks walkable. Is it a good idea to park at the Magic Kingdom and monorail from there? Or will we have to pay for parking? (we'll be staying on site but have no plans of going to the Magic Kingdom.)

My second question-- I've read online about going to a waterpark and leaving towels, etc. on the beach chairs. Is that actually safe? If not, is it reasonable to leave that stuff in the car and run out as needed? What do people here do?

If you just want to ride the monorail, yes, it's possible, but do it only if you leave yourself enough extra time to board the monorail and ride it a few yards. it won't be much of a ride. When you finish dinner, leave enough time to ride the monorail back around to TTC if all you want is a monorail ride.

If you are staying onsite you won't have to pay to park at MK whether you actually go there or not.

I've read online about going to a waterpark and leaving towels, etc. on the beach chairs. Is that actually safe?

Depends on what the etc. is. If you intend on leaving valuable items you may want to consider renting a locker.

I would park at the Poly and ride the resort monorail around a full loop either before or after dinner. You can watch wishes from the beach at the Poly

Re: towels on chairs at TL - - you won't want to run out to the car from inside TL, probably too much of a hike on a hot August day. Just leave your towel and stuff at a chair somewhere. As PP said, you may want to rent a locker. We have done it both ways - rented a locker (worked great) and another time just left stuff buried in bags at the chairs.
