We are finally getting ready to go....it seems like it has taken forever just to get to this final week but I'm so glad it's almost here:Pinkbounc

Here are my questions:

I've looked at the extended weather forcast and it's listing the high in the 70's and low in 60's that seems a tad chilly for us..... so should we pack some sweatshirts? I've heard that CA has low to no humidity so I can't imagine how chilly it could possibly be

We are flying into SNA and we are renting a car from Hertz. Does anyone know if we will have to be shuttled offsite to pick up the car?

Does anyone know if they take pictures at Goofy's Kitchen like they do at Chef Mickey's in WDW? I'm such a sucker for these photos :teeth:

We are hoping to eat off-site a lot does anyone have any suggestions for some good food that can be found pretty close to Anaheim. We are already planning on hitting In & Out Burger any other suggestions??

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!:wave2:

I'm not really sure if the temp. would be cold since we had gone during a warmer time, but my suggestion would be to buy sweatshirts in the gift shops if you get cold. That way you won't have to carry any which will end up to be alot to hold and you will then have a souvenior to take home.
Not sure about other places to eat cause we had eatten at the Japanese restaurant in one of the Disney hotels which we liked and at IHOP for breakfast, then ate inside of the park, but I love In & Out Burger-yum.
Enjoy your trip, and don't forget to take alot of pictures.

Personaly, if you have the room wy not be safe and pack some. Thats what we usually do and it works out well.

We did Hertz from LAX and they had a shuttle. I would assume if they have an offsite lot, then they have a shuttle for you. I would play it safe though and call.

Have a great trip

Definitely bring sweatshirts--maybe jackets because we're having June gloom right now and it's more humid than normal (actually the humidity we have right now is normal for June). It's rather cloudy in the mornings but usually burns off a bit into a gray haze. Nights can be chilly. My suggestion would be to rent a locker and store a change of clothes in there for each person. You'll probably still want shorts and t-shirts for daytime, but once the sun goes down you'll want sweatshirts and pants.

At Goofy's Kitchen there's an area near the check-in area where they will take your pic with Pluto and you can then buy it, otherwise just have you camera ready. The character interaction there is great.

Just a warning- Id avoid the IHOP across from DL at all costs- Other area IHOPS Im told are just fine but Ive heard one to many horror stories about people being grossly overcharged, bad food, service etc to recommend that particular spot.

Personally Im a fan of Jack in the Box but its a love/hate relationship with most (either love it or hate it)

I agree with avoiding the IHOP across the street from DL. I've eaten there and the service was lousy (took forever to order and get the food), the food wasn't good, and they charge about 25-50% more than other IHOPs. You'd be much better off eating inside DL at that rate. The food may be around the same price, but the service is better and so is the food for the most part. Plus you have the DL atmosphere.

We had a lot of fun at Joe's Crab Shack, with was south on Harbor a mile or so. Fun atmosphere and good food. They are owned by the same parent company as Rain Forest Cafe. There are also lots of restaurants up and down Harbor- Mimi's Cafe (good), Tony Roma's, Millies, and I think further down near Joe's there was a Red Lobster and other national chains like that.

Bring some windbreakers. I just got back from WDW a week ago and what a huge difference. I ws cold here at home for like 2 days. I know its a bit warmer down south but still.
They have a B charcter outside the main eating area you can take a picture w/ and then buy but I have never seen a character I would want a picture w/.

From my experience (in the Summer at least), Anaheim generally has better daytime weather and Orlando generally has better nighttime weather.

Those temperatures don't seem chilly to me at all, but I can understand where you're coming from, coming from Florida. So I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring something to keep you warm just in case.

Pretty much when ever you go to Disneyland you should bring a sweatshirt for the evenings. If your hotel is close then just go back in the afternoon to rest a bit, maybe eat dinner, and change into your evening clothes (not formal attire here just jeans/slacks and sweatshirts).

Thanks for all the suggestions!

We have decided to pack some light jackets......I tend to get cold quite easily so this is a must for me.

Disneyland_Emily....Jack in the Box is a must for my family....we love the Sourdough Jacks but we only get them when we head West :(

Well I guess I should start packing now ...I'll be writing a full trip report when I get back:wave:

WOOHOO! another Jacks fan!

The closest Jacks is about a block south behind DCA on Katella

The 2nd closest is north over the freeway and down 2 lights then over 2 (or 3) lights

We just got back last week, and at the last minute I threw in sweatshirts, light jackets and boy was I glad. Being from Florida I was cool a lot of the time. I had a long sleeved chambray type shirt for myself and what a lifesaver. I wore it in the mornings and if I got hot I tied it around my waist. But a lot of the time in the shade or inside buildings I was glad I had it.

I got tons of great tips from these boards, but one I hadn't seen that one of my sons came up with was if you have a choice rent a RED car. We picked a red car and what a help finding it in the parking lots. We went a lot of places besides DL and were glad to have a car we could find.

Happy travels, you'll have a great time.

"Cool" is relative; I imagine that my friends from New England would be just fine right now w/o a windbreaker in the evening! But mid-60's is enough to feel the chill for anyone from a more southernly clime, expecially if a little breeze picks up, and the June gloom mornings can bring some drizzle (very light) as well. Usually by afternoon the overcast burns off all or most of the way and it is very comfy for shorts and a t-shirt.

As for where to eat off site...there's a McDonalds on Beach Blvd., just northeast of Knott's, that has a huge LGB train layout all over the restaurant. It is really a lot of fun to eat and watch the trains, and if you are looking for something different but cheap and totally informal, this sure fits the bill! I think it is about 15 minutes from DL. The "Big Train" McDonald's 7861 Beach Blvd., Buena Park 714/521-2303

Ive been to that McDs- It is pretty kewl least from what I remember of it- 6 am trips after a night on a bus makes ones memory foggy
