First of all...is there a boat from OKW that goes to DTD?

OK, wanted that to be the first question so that posters can see that as they drag the mouse across the thread title...

We have ressies at POFQ but if we can rent a studio at OKW we are going to do so. My friend who is renting me the points will call Monday when DVC reservations opens up. We "really" want BWV for 11 points a night, but apparently all DVC studios are booked except for OKW (10 points a night) and SSR (12 points a night.) Does that sound right to you? The date in question is May 1st...a Sunday. I am surprised all studios are booked...is there anything special going on then?

Is there anything interesting you can tell me about OKW? I know alot about many resorts on WDW property, but this is one I have never looked into.

BTW...this is an anniversary trip for DH and I. We will be there two nights without our DD! (shhh....don't tell her! LOL) So the parks are not really an issue...we will probably not even set foot in a park..unless we get BWV, we may go to Epcot for dinner one night.

Yes there is a boat to DTD. It leaves OKW at the top of the hour from 11am (I believe) until 4pm and after 4 there are two boats so they run at the top and bottom of the hour until 11pm (I believe). There is also a bus from OKW from 9:30am-2am.

Vacation club resorts do not follow the traditional peak/slow season trends. Because they are ownerships, the members are there all the time year round. DVC resorts can be completly sold out when other Disney hotels are only at half their occupancy. So to say there are no studios during your dates is probably true. (Also May 5th is the media event for the 50 year celebration so the properties will be full).

Personally I love OKW. It is is very laid back and more like a hometown feel than a "vacation hotel". To me it is a great place to go and relax. Not a whole lot going on, but they do have things to do. There are 4 pools, there is a marina (you can rent all different kinds of boats). Olivia's Cafe is a nice sit down resturant. They also do activites throughout the day by the main pool which are fun to watch even if you don't participate. You can rent bikes and just ride around the property. There is the boat and/or bus, as well as a walking path to Downtown Disney. Like I said it is very laid back and relaxing :)

Thanks for your response, CDS! Sounds like it will be perfect for us!

Also, thank you for explaining the DVC concept a bit. I could not figure out how it could be booked...but now it makes sense.

have a great night!

Also for DVC people Sunday is a big check in day, as it starts your week in the cheapest point time.

We love OKW! :) The villas are huge, and the feeling is so relaxing. :cloud9:
