Some questions about Kona

No, lost it about a week ago after I made my ADR for my November trip...It was there the day I made the ADR because I checked them when I was done...Went back the next day to find "MY Vacation" was gone.

sorry this is happening to you, but I'm glad I'm not the only one! My Disney Vacation has been there all along as I've cancelled a few dining ADR's, but then one day it was suddenly gone! I just don't understand......? It used to be in the top right, exactly as others have described.

I have dinner ADRs and I saw a post with a lot of great lunch reviews. Was wondering if I should switch to lunch or will dinner be just as good? Is there a big difference in menu options?

You can view the menus at WDWinfo or Allears and see which one you like better. I prefer lunch for two reasons. One, I think it is a better value. The portions are large and the prices lower. Second, the meal I get is only served at lunch, the Asian noodle bowl.

Im just not sure Im sold on this place. I am interested in the Tuna Oscar or the Scallops and Shrimp, but both are made with wasabi sauce on top and I don't like spicy food. We'd be paying OOP for this meal so I just dont know what to do. Is it really that good? I was thinking maybe lunch would be better. I hear a lot of people talking about the Noodle Bowl thing....is that spicy too? Help me decide please...

We eat at Kona everytime we visit WDW. We've had breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Our last trip we had dinner and I believe, we had the steak. It actually was very good (not the best steak we've had in the world - that honor would go to the Yachtsman Steakhouse!!) and the desserts are excellent. Actually, we enjoyed lunch best. I loved their pulled pork sandwich and the desserts are available all day so you can't lose!

We've eaten at Kona several times for dinner & have always enjoyed it. We usually get steak. You could order the tuna & ask them not to add the wasabi, or to leave it on the side if you'd like to try it.

We just ate there a little over a week ago. My DH and I both got the shrimp and scallops. We were "underwhelmed". It was just ok. Rather small portion. And I don't remember wasabi on it. We actually found it bland. The appetizers, lapu lapu drinks and dessert were all great tho so overall we enjoyed it.

We love Kona! I always order the shrimp and scallops and request the sauces on the side. I also ask for mashed potatoes instead of the sticky rice.

My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

I will be there next wk and plan on ordering the tuna oscar and asking they cook it just a tiny bit more, I feel pretty sure my DD will get the shrimp or the noodles so I will do a review when I get back the week after that!

Ask for now wasabi sauce. my mom got the scallops and shrimp and they gladly omitted it. We also liked dinner a LOT more than lunch!

We are paying OOP for this one most likely (during Free dining) so I need some ideas. I was thinking of just doing the sticky wings appetizers (are these the same ones they serve as Ohana?) or i think I saw a crab dip of some type..maybe?? I also thought maybe we coudl order the asian noodle dish, which sounded good, and maybe we could share it. I don't want a steak and I don't like anything real spicey. So fire away...give me some ideas on what to order....full meal ideas, or appies and desserts...anything...

I hope others answer you - I am interested to hear the answers, too. Thank you for the thread. Happy dining!

FOr appetizers love the sticky wings, pot stickers and crab cake. For dinner we like the pan asain noodles and and the scallop dish is good.

I can't imagine EVER going to Kona and not getting the Tuna Oscar. It is my favorite dish on WDW property (so far). Other than that, I really have no suggestions. The sticky wings are just o.k. for me, but my dh and ds love them. Three out of the five of us love the Tuna Oscar, though. I am just glad it's one of our 12 restaurants during FDDP.

pixiedust: Good luck! :thumbsup2

For us, the sticky wing appetizer is a must. I love the terryaki steak as an entree.
