Some questions about being gay while at the parks?

Hello all,

I am a bisexual 19 year old with a boyfriend. We are planning to visit Disney World and Universal in October 2011. My boyfriend is open about being gay and is okay to show his affection in public, but I am still leery on showing gay acts in public, though I very much would like too.

What I mean to say is, if he were to kiss me in the parks... would there be a riot forming? I know Disney is supposed to be gay friendly, but I have never traveled there with my boyfriend... what about Universal? How are they? I am kind of inbetween places right now... I know if a straight couple kissed there would be no problem.

I just don't want to be made to look like a "insert obsene remark here" in public if I tried to hold his hand... he doesn't care what others think... but I am so self-consious... any advice mates? :confused3

Thanks a million!

Hand holding, a peck on the cheek, arms around each other.......all fine! :thumbsup2

No tounge hockey please!

Cant speak for Universal, but at Disney, seeing a gay couple is not an issue at all! Go and enjoy! :thumbsup2

I agree with Mike. I can't stand it when two people are all over each other in the parks. Especially when waiting in a line!! I think you'll be fine. Have fun at Disney.

I agree with Mike.

But first off only do what you feel comfortable with but make sure you convey that information to your boyfriend so he knows what you're comfortable with and what you're not.

It was an issue I had with my previous partner. He didn't care how far he took public displays of affection and I on the other hand, felt out a situation and would be more cautious at times because of previous experiences.

Communication is the key with him. Let him know.

as mentioned, as long as it is in good taste, there is no issue. In fact holding hands will get you more attention from CMs in a good way. I know I always go out of my way to make gay ppl feel comfortable when I see them.

Ppl might stare a bit, but I tend to block it off and enjoy myself. Remember, they can stare, but whether they like it or not, you have the backing of the company.

Exactly as others said. I don't mind seeing anyone holding hands/hug/peck on the cheek but there is no need (nor do I want to see) anyone making out in public regardless of their sexual orientation.

Everyone who responded is correct. Keep it respectable. Behave within the limits you'd expect to see from straight couples.

Do (almost) what you feel comfortable with, no need to feel embarrassed or ashamed to show love and affections with another human. But keep in mind there are some people that are small minded and may make a snide remark because they are uncomfortable with their own self. Just ignore it and if they persist, contact a cast member. No need to ruin your vacation for the uneducated.

I see straights playing "tongue hockey" all the time. I don't see why you need permission to do anything from anyone.

In all seriousness, no one wants to see dental diving, so just kiss normal. if a tongue flicks, so what. If someone doesn't like it, it is their problem, not yours.

In my state, I am legally married to my husband, so I don't need to ask anyone what they can handle in my relationship. It is no ones business.

My rules for PDA in Disney are simple, keep it PG. If you wouldn't do it in front of your mom you probably shouldn't do it in the parks, and that goes for any and all gender combos. However, if you will die if you cannot touch tongues once every six hours, there is always the Haunted Mansion. :)

DTD at night is, perhaps, another story.

we have a winner:wizard:

As far as Universal goes I almost consider it a locals park since there passes are so cheap compared to WDW. Not as much of an international crowd after 6pm or so when all the locals come out. So pay attention to your surroundings
more drunk people over here to.

Just wanted to say that this post made my day. :goodvibes

In a related story, last year at Epcot we saw a family of four, mom, dad, young daughter, young son. The kids were costumed. The boy, no more than 5 or 6, had a Snow White costume on. Sure there were stares, but the vast majority of the people we overheard thought it was one of the cutest things they'd ever seen. Kudos to his parents for supporting him!

That's my nephew! Well not that little boy but mine would want to wear the same thing! We bought masks to paint as a project on night, we bought him a pirate. He wanted to be a princess, so we made a pirate princess!
