HI everyone. This is the first time I am writing on the disabilities board. Monday I am going in to be checked for MS. I am scared and mad and asking why this is happening to me. I am not going to let this get me down and stop me from going to Disney. Please keep me in your prayers, I know this isn't the time to ask when so much is going on in our country, I am just lucky to be here.

Lots and Lots of pixie dust. Keep us informed.

Gail, be calm and be patient. Lots of people get checked out for possible MS and it often turns out to be something else. It can take a long time to get a definite diagnosis. Also, people with MS do not all become disabled, many have a few bothersome symptoms and problems but are able to have a fairly normal life. Plus, lots of people with MS of varying degrees go to WDW every year... this will not stop you.

Our prayers are with you that whatever problems you are having will be diagnosed and managed quickly, and that you will have a full recovery. {{{hugs}}}

thoughts & prayers to you ... whatever the diagnosis, it is not the end of the world ... my sister was diagnosed with MS about four years ago ... she has had some episodes, but she is doing better than I first feared ... I understand your fear ... keep us posted

Gail,

What you're feeling is perfectly normal. It's OK to be scared, angry and asking Why me. It took over a year for me to be diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. The unknown is a very scary place!!! Once you find out exactly what is wrong whether it be MS or something different, you'll be able to educate yourself. When I was first diagnosed I thought it was the end of the world!!! I knew nothing about MD except for what I saw on the telethons. What I have found out with MD like MS is there are varying degrees like Teri had mentioned. Once you do get the proper diagnosis you'll be treated appropiately and whatever it is you'll adjust to your condition in time. Just take it one day at a time. We're all here for you!!!

Gail,
PD and {{{}}}} to you. A diagnosis of MS is not the end of the world as devastating as it seems. As others have said now you will know what you are dealing with and can take appropriate action. The important thing is to know what you are dealing with. I was diagnosed over 15 yrs ago and have had some ups and downs. Last March had a big down and what did I do? I went to WDW for 10 days! the most accessible place on earth.

I'm also sending pixie dust and parayers to you. It is a scary place to be in the unknown, but if you get a diagnosis, at least you know what you are dealing with. When we hear about any condition, we tend to hear about the very extreme cases, not the large numbers of people who are having less difficulty.
I'm glad to welcome you to your first visit here. Feel free to come again any time. You got some very good advice from some of our best experts. Now, good luck to you.

I have a brother and sister-in-law with MS (high concentration in western NY).
There is a lot I could say - but I would note that the MS Society is very active and helpful. I'm sure there is a chapter somewhere near where you live.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I am leaving in a half hr. to go to the hospital, not sure if I can get answers today but I hope so. This not knowing is probably the worst thing I am going through. even though I have never met you all from the Dis board I feel a closeness that I get from my friends, you will all always have a special place in my hearty.

Here's hoping you get information you need to either put your fears to rest or to help deal with what lies ahead. More PD and {{{{}}}}s and prayers.

Well today I went to the doctors. I had 2 options, to start adivan (sp) give myself one shot a week or wait 3 months to get another MRI. I didn't have MS so hopefully I will not have another bout of the sypyoms that have been described to me. Thank you for the well wishes and prayers:)
