I had a brain MRI done this past monday. My last neuro exam showed some possible late complications from my surgery last June so my surgeon ordered a new set of scans. I go back and see him on Friday for the results and to find out what we are going to have to do. He mentioned a couple of possiblities:
1) The pain and headaches are just because that area is overly sensitive now. And the balance and strength issues are just a continuation of the recovery and may just be a minor set back
2) There might be something wrong just with the part of the skull from when they put it back in (it might have set improperly....that might be causing the pain)
3)There is some minor issue with the portion of the brain they went into during the surgery and it just took a while for it to manifest and show problems
4)There might be some new problem...which would be the worst case scenario
If it is the first thing, no surgery and the pain will be managed with meds and it will be back to PT for the other issues.
If it is anything else, that means a repeat surgery. The surgery last year was rough and they ran into some major unexpected anesthesia complications with my asthma and heart condition during the surgery so that scares us all.
So if anyone has any pixie dust to send out here for it to be something non-surgical, that would be great. It's been a very bad couple of weeks medically and we are just hoping for some good news.
