My heart is simply broken. We had to put our baby to sleep on Sunday. She was a beautiful, loving, silly, funny 9 year old bulldog. She developed pancreatitis with serious complications and we could not let her suffer any further. It was our responsibility to be there to hold her and love her at the end. But the pain is just overwhelming. We are trying to concentrate on the wonderful memories and how thankful we are for the 9 years of love and joy she gave us.

I'm so sorry. Losing a friend is so difficult. I had a Winnie (a Westie), too, and it broke my heart when she passed. I hope today brings a bit of relief as you deal with the grief.

I'm so sorry. I understand how you feel. When we had to put our dog to sleep due to her having a brain tumor, the loss was very difficult at times. Hang on to the great memories and may each passing day be a little easier for you.

:grouphug: I am so sorry for your loss. I have two canine babies and one is getting on in years...I dread the day he leaves me...I lost my beloved cat in 2006, and still miss him so much...I wish you strength and peace in this horrible time. :grouphug:

I am truly sorry. We are so attached to our furbabies, that when they are gone, it leaves an incredible hole in our lives.

I've been thinking about you and hoping you're doing ok. As I mentioned before, I can so relate to how you're feeling right now. It's not a nice place to be at all. To people like us, our dogs are a big part of our lives.

I know everyone's different on this (and I sure hope this doesn't offend you), but I'm the type of person that gets another dog right away. It's bittersweet. But you move forward because you have no choice not to; then one day you wake up and realize that that dog has completely wormed their way into your heart too.

All of my dogs have come to me after the loss of another. The dog who's sitting next to me right now came to me during a very difficult time in my life. I was still undergoing cancer treatment, had just lost my beautiful and beloved female Shepherd, and my male Shepherd was dying. I can't even describe how sad I was. :sad1: When we got her, all I wanted was my other two dogs. But I knew that wasn't possible. So although she drove me completely nuts for a while and I had times when I'd questioned whether the timing was right, here she sits 3 years later and now I can't imagine my life without her. So goes both the pain and circle of life I suppose.

No dog will ever take the place of your beautiful Winnie. Ever. She will live in your heart and mind forever and I do believe that someday you will be together again. In the meantime, I hope you consider opening your heart to another dog one of these days. Just think, somewhere out there is a dog just waiting for you.

I posted this on one of your other threads, but I'm going to post it again. I hope you find it helpful.

Your Pets In Heaven
by Ken D. Conover

To have loved and then said farewell, is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you have stooped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you.
For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly.
For all of these things I am grateful and thankful.

I ask that you not grieve for the loss, but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each others lives. My life was fuller because you were there, not as a master/owner, but as my FRIEND.

Today I am as I was in my youth. The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the Sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures.
I can run, jump, play and do all of the things that I did in my youth. There is no sickness, no aching joints and no regrets and no aging.

We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever.
You live in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such as you are so rare and unique.
Don't hold the love that you have within yourself. Give it to another like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

Your Pets In Heaven

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it can be to have to put down a pet Just try to remember how much joy she brought you. Know that you were the greatest parents you could have been to your fur-baby. Take care,
Alisa

I am so sorry......it is so hard to love a pet, they are such an intricate part of the family. We had to put our cat down years ago, cancer, and we were a mess, we have never gotten another pet, the pain was overwhelming for my husband, my daughters and myself. Hugs...

Oh my goodness, I am so very sorry for your loss.

I can tell you that although it is absolutely heartbreaking for you with the loss so fresh, I do now, (9 months later) find it comforting to know that my Papillion is no longer in pain. I find it comforting to know that he passed with my DH rubbing his furry little head instead of how the Vet said it would end on his own. I also find it comforting to know that when I had to be, I was able to be strong enough to say goodbye. I loved him enough to let him go in a far less painful way than nature had planned for him. So did you:flower3:

Here is a bouquet of Disney Hugs.

THank you all so much.
Pea-n-Me...I understand what you are saying, but we just can't right now. We need some time to heal.

When I lost my first dog these things helped me.

I went to pet loss dot com and wrote a memorial. I printed out the poem of rainbow bridge and collected pics of her from puppy to adult hood. And put together a collage. We saved her favorite toy. And each christmas we put a doggy angel on the tree.

Also what I did is light a candle everyday for a month. I found it really helped me in my grieving.

So sorry for you loss I really know how much pain it can cause.

Thank you. THis week is worse than last for some reason. Crying a lot. We are looking into bulldog rescue and puppies too, I'm so emotional.

I know how you feel and I have been following your sad story all along, I have wanted to comment on your thread for so long but just haven't, I feel you loved this furbaby as much as I loved my beagle, it's so hard. I seen the tribute that was done for you by a dear friend of winnie on another website, and I cryed like a baby. :grouphug:

Thank you so much. How long ago did you lose your beagle? It's very hard. We may be getting a puppy we went to see yesterday. Have you gotten a new furbaby?
