Can you believe some of this stuff??

(These are REALLY on this list of items not allowed)

Toy Transformers - They ARE allowed but I have to wonder why they even had to list them specifically like this.
Ice axes/Ice picks - ????
Meat cleavers, sabers, swords - Huh??? Why would you need this??
And my favorite:
SPEARGUNS - Has this become a problem?

Too funny! A coworker tells of her Dad giving her Hubby some parts and tools to fix the brakes on their car, and for some reason, they had them all in carry-on. TSA confiscated (well, gate-checked actually) the tools, but left the big heavy auto parts in the carry on. So I guess they would not be able to take the palne apart, but they would have been able to threaten to bash someone with the big heavy parts.
 That's just wacky!

I guess I'll just have to pack my meat cleaver in checked luggage then (dang. and I was hoping to trim my nails with it on the way)

The weird one that I got harangued about (though it actually is NOT on the list, as I was able to prove) was a bungee cord, one with plastic hooks, at that. I was using it to piggyback a carseat onto a suitcase to roll it to the gate. The TSA agent gave me a big speech about how a terrorist might use a 6' bungee cord to tie up hostages. Ahem ... a bungee cord is e-l-a-s-t-i-c; a terrorist who would use an elastic band to tie someone up is one dumb terrorist.

Hand tools are banned from the cabin because you might use them to dissassemble parts of the cabin interior, either to hide weapons or remove previously hidden weapons. Bashing people w/ heavy objects doesn't seem to be an issue.

The scary part is, if these weren't on the list, there is someone, somewhere, who would try to board a plane, pulling out the TSA prohibited items list, arguing "But look, I can PROVE that spearguns are NOT on the list!" :earseek:

True.

However, the Transformers are listed as safe. Why are they even listed?

Does anyone remember this show? Do they think my sons little Decepticon will come alive and try to rule the plane? :rotfl2:

I remember them, and have no idea why they would have been listed. What was the name of that big one? Optimus Prime? Maybe ONE transformer alone can't take over the plane, but if we each bring one along...look out!

Well, it just goes to show you that it is a good thing we DIDN'T buy a sword in that shop at Epcot-Japan and try to bring it on the plane. Obviously we NEED a samurai sword but we had no good way to transport it! ;)

You know, I didn't even look to see how much they were. They were in a locked glass case, so either they were expensive or they were really sharp! DH noticed them and made some sort of comment about trying to get on the plane with one. We were so paranoid we packed our BLUNT tipped child scissors (for the moleskin) in our checked bags because we were afraid of having them taken away.

I just figureed out why they even listed Transformers as a safe item.

One of them looked like a gun. Megatron. When he was transformed he was a Walther P38 automatic. Maybe tons of parents were calling. :)

ROFL...Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning! I just went from... :cold: to... :rotfl:

OT, but isn't this banana  just too funny?

When we were coming back from Disney my son had a walking stick that looked like it was made from bone with a large skull on the top (he got it a the POTC giftshop - it's REAALLLY cool!!). They stopped us and we ended up having to wrap and check it. It did look pretty lethal thou and could deliver quite a whopper to someone.
