Some major problems I see with current WDW park and ride access processes

I can appreciate park reservations, but I think it should know how many people are buying tickets, then average the number of people between the four parks, set a limit and then let anyone in that segment to reserve what they want. It should be ticket based, not reservation based, and if they limited the number of tickets versus reservation it would help everyone.

Sorry if I'm missing something, but isn't that sort of what they are doing since you must have a ticket to get a park reservation?

...But we did get a good offer to give up our seats on Sunday and go on a later flight on Monday or Tuesday - which we declined. But let's assume we were one of the ones who got canceled and had to stay an extra day or two in Orlando. Any self-respecting Disney fan would say "hey, if we are stuck here maybe we can go back for another day or two at the parks!". Nope, the parks were all sold out!...

Yes! this is probably my biggest complaint. There are certain locations I would not mind being stuck in. Orland and Las Vegas being the first two that come to mind.

We do tend to drive to WDW. but there have been times in the past when we had a couple of washout days. When our schedule was flexible enough (kids out of school, wife works for the schools), my work schedule could accommodate, and it looked to be a couple of nice days coming, I would try to extend the vacation. Once I extended our stay in Wilderness Lodge for two days (we did have to switch rooms, but it worked). Another time I was able to get a room at the Hampton Inn.

While staying an extra night or two cost me a few dollars, since we are AP holders, there was no real additional cost to going back to the parks.

However, today being an AP holder makes it even worse. I have a ticket. It is paid for, but I may not be able to get a reservation.

Sorry for the late response, the difference is, if there is a limited amount of tickets, instead of limited reservations where you can choose which park to go to it would help with so many issues. This would help make sure people know, first of all when you can go to the park, and then second of all it allows for lower crowd capacity and would allow for Season Pass holders to stop NEEDING reservations, which is a stupid issue for Disney to be dealing with.

We were just there a few weeks ago and there was zero evidence that park reservations were making the parks uncrowded. In fact, it was the most crowded I have ever seen the parks in fifteen years or so. It's honestly hard to imagine that park reservations are anything more than a way to more efficiently staff the parks by knowing exactly how many people to expect and thus how many staff to schedule. Short on staff? Don't hire more, just lower capacity!
