We will be arriving in DW 14 days from now. I have some last minute questions for you all and of course any suggestions for a Dis newbie would be much appreciated. We will be at the Polynesian.

I am guessing that the Poly has shampoo and conditioner in the room? Do we need to bring our own?

My almost 5yo daughter is 43" in bare feet. With her shoes she is 44". Do they measure you in shoes? I am sure they do by a stick or something outside each ride. If that is the case, do you recommend any 44" rides for a nearly 5yo. She does seem to like rides. Specifically, is Space Mountain ok?

Any other last minute suggestions you would have would be appreciated, my wife and I havent been since we were very young kids (before Epcot opened) and this is our first family trip and I am trying to make it as special as possible. We are going to MNSSHP Oct 2nd. We have the Cinderella lined up as well as Fantasmic. Any other cant misses?

Thanks so much in advance.

They measure with shoes. When we took DD to WDW, we started her first on Splash Mtn, then BTMRR, then Space Mtn. We felt this was the best sequence and if she didn't like one then we wouldn't continue. She was 10 at the time, so a little different in age then your DD.

You must be getting very excited about your trip as its just around the corner.

Ive never stayed at the poly but i'm sure they supply shampoo and soap since all the resorts i've stayed at to date have those items in the bathrooms

Its been a while since any of my boys needed to be measured but from what i've noticed the kids have their shoes on. I know there is a site that tells you height requirements of the rides with their description but i cant remember where i've seen that information right off the top of my head but if i do remember where, i'll let you know, i'm sure someone out there can help you more with that

Have a great trip - we'll be there from the 5th to the 10th - have a great time

Oki, I just got out my unoffivial guide and here are some answers for your height requirement question

Space MT is 44 in.
BTMR- 40in
goofy's barnstormer- 35 in
Splash MT-40in

One quick note on the height requirement. The posts they use to measure with are cemented into the ground, and not all are exact. So even though they meet height on one ride, the next one with the same height requirement the may not be tall enough. It's not a big deal but just keep it in mind.

One thing to remember about Space Mountain is that the riders are lined up single file, so be sure your DD knows you won't be able to sit next to her before you go on. That was a deal-breaker for my DD at that age, but she loved Splash, Big Thunder Mountain, and Goofy's Barnstormer.

One special thing for little girls is Belle's Storytime in the Fairytale Garden at the Magic Kingdom. Belle tells the Beauty and the Beast story, and picks kids from the audience to help her act it out (try to sit in front). Also, check Toontown Fair for princess meet-and-greets if DD is a princess fan; you can also find them in the different "countries" in Epcot if you're going there. If you're doing Animal Kingdom, don't miss the Festival of the Lion King, and try to sit up front because they always pick children to participate in the shows. Bibbety Bobbity Boutique at Downtown Disney has princess makeovers where they do nails, makeup, and princess-style hair if your daughter is into those kind of things. The campfire at Ft. Wilderness is fun, too -- you can purchase kits to make s'mores, they have a sing-along, show a Disney movie, and Chip and Dale come -- and it's free. There are other things as well -- Alice's Tea Party and the other Perfectly Princess Tea Party ($$$) at the Grand Floridian to name a couple-- but it depends on how much time you will have to spend away from the parks.

Oh, and don't forget to let your DD dress up in a princess dress for Cinderella's!
