Some interesting things about the Disney Dining Program

How would they do that? They aren't going to scan everyone's band in a group when it's time to pay.

Dont know how it would work i wonder if anyone on here has done it yet?

before magic bands came along, when we had credits left at the end of our stay, we would give them to someone to make their trip "more magical", just a couple snacks or meals. I haven't done it since the magic bands were introduced, though

We had the dining plan in 2011. My sister came to visit us one day, and we went to Cape May for breakfast. We told the server that we had one paying cash for the meal, but she forgot and just charged my sister's meal to our DP. I was so surprised because I had always read on here that you couldn't do that.

I had extra credits once due to someone getting sick during the trip, so I "paid" for another couple's meal at Boma. Just had to scan my band, no issues whatsoever. They did the tip separately. This was last January.

This has been discussed extensively over on the dining plan sub-forum. This is one of the changes from last May. The wording on the brochure USED to say that credits could NOT be transferred to anyone not on the plan. That wording has been removed, and nothing replaced it. So there have been many, many reports of people being able to do this. At least one group even booked two rooms and purposely bought the DxDDP for ONE room and covered meals for both rooms from that one plan.

In the past, it was stated that using credits for non-party members was not allowed but I don't know whether the computers had any way to prevent it. Your key to the world card (or magic band before the dining plan change) was coded to show how many adults & kids were on the plan and a server was presumably responsible for telling someone they couldn't pay for 6 meals when their plan showed only 4 people on it. I think the computers must not have blocked it, though, because Signature restaurants used 2 credits so your group of 4 would use 8 there. Now the language is gone, so you can use any credits you have any way you want.

As stated by a PP, these questions are better asked on the Dining Plan subforum, not here on the Theme Parks forum
You will have factual answers, not speculation

My parents are one reservation and the five of my family members are on another. My parents have deluxe dining and we have the middle level. My plan was to use credits from my parents for some of our meals since theirs includes appetizers and use ours for all of us for the buffet meals. I purchased all our dining plans for this exact reason. I had two CM's tell me this was acceptable. If we can not do this I need to now ASAP so I can make the proper changes. I would hate to get there and this not be allowed. Problem is you never seen to get the same answer from Disney Staff.

There is nothing that will prevent your parents from ordering an appetizer as part of their Deluxe dining plan and everyone at the table eating it.
Is that what you are asking?

Not quite. For instance we have a reservation at Narcosses. Mom and dad would use their credits for all our meals there. We also have a reservation for Cape May which is a buffet meal. Now there we would use our credits for everyones meals does that make sense?

Ok I just listened to the whole broadcast. He is saying you CAN use your credits for others that are NOT on your reservation so we are good!!! I at first read that the oposite way. Also mentioned that you can trade a TB or QS for 3 snacks. Another thing mentioned is you are no longer limited to $5 and under for snacks. They just have to be single serving things.

I checked out this podcast yesterday and I guess they changed that you could use your dining credits for someone not on dining program....has this always been the case?

Yes it has always been the case. If you ask a cast member you get a very well rehearsed answer like "you prepurchased credits for all the guests on your reservation, how you use the credits is up to you". Of course someone on the plan needs to be with the people not on the plan to use it, you can't just transfer credits.

You shouldn't have a problem. Just have the server prepare one bill, and then make sure you scan the correct MB at each meal.
