~* :flower: Hi Everyone! :flower: *~

I am fairly new here, so not sure if this question has been beat to death or not...BUT, I am ready to sell on ebay & want some ideas for things that sell well!

My husband does ebay full time, but I have my own buying ID & am ready to start selling my own stuff, I want to make our Disney money by OCTOBER! :sunny: Can I do it?? Also I have a change jar.

I'm a stay-at-home mom of two boys, & I'd LOVE to make my DH proud of me by making all our Disney money on ebay!

Okay, I went to a few yard sells Saturday morning, & I found some good quality name brand baby clothes. A whole bag full for $15.00..so thats a start.
Of course I have some junk around the house I can get rid of.

Should I just get any & everything at yard sells..or is there specific things that sell well?
You experts let me know!! :grouphug:

Clothes don't usually do terribly well anymore, unless they're specific things. Baby clothes are typically sold in "lots" of larger pieces and even then, they don't bring in a tremendous amount.

If you're into garage sale-ing, keep an eye out for maternity (especially name brands and current styles), nursing clothes (especially Motherwear), and Gymboree clothes. Even vintage Gymbo sells well.

Homeschool curricula, cloth diapers, and soft soled shoes are also a hot commodity (Robeez, in particular).

You might have some luck selling Disney clothes, listing them each individually with the character name and size in the title. People are searching for things for vacations. Swimsuits, life jackets, other pool things - things that aren't expensive to ship - are also hot right now.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the suggestions! I will keep my eye out for the maternity things at yard sales. I had noticed that there are SO many baby clothes on ebay, even some NWT's clothes..but I figured at the prices I paid, I would at least make a little.
I also found a vintage Disney Minnie Mouse clock that plays a bunch of disney songs as the alarm..it must be at least a few years old. Also found a couple of Disney Sleeping bags.

ANY & ALL suggestions/ideas are welcome! :wave2:

I've been looking for meal vouchers for our June trip. Lots of people on e-bay sell them but they are so expensive knowing that they are only $11.50 originally. I just can't bring myself to spend $20 or more on one voucher! :teeth:

Any more ideas anyone? I am serious about ebay..REALLY want to find something to sell. Preferably also easy to ship, too! ;) Great suggestions so far...just wondering if anyone else has any? What works for you? Or what do you buy alot of on ebay?

I have purchased stickers before. Ones that are new in packages that I can use in goodie bags.
I am currently looking for children's videos, and those are easy to mail. If you use media mail, that will cut down on your shipping cost.

Ok, I'll give my 2 cents! I know someone mentioned that clothes don't do very well anymore on ebay. However, I disagree. I think that if you do it at the right time of year kids clothes are still doing pretty well. I also know that plus size clothes sell well.

But i mostly sell kids clothes my DD is 14 and my DS 5 and I sell there clothes. yes, name brands sell better but i do them in lots and slip in a few not so name brand items with the name brand ones. They have to be in very good condition but since my hobby is shopping my kids have sooooooooo many clothes that many are still in great shape. I just think that there are only about 2 months in the spring ( mid march to mid may) and a month or two in the fall ( mid to late aug./back to school time till the end of sept. or so) that things people really seem to be shopping for clothes though. Do some research on ebay looking at completed listing ( under the site map) so you can get an idea of what things are going for. good luck!

I buy a lot of things on ebay, and one of the things I buy a lot are clothes for me (most of my favorite things came from ebay). If you are selling clothes (adult or children) though, you need to make your listings stand out....if brand names state it, people do searches by the brand. Don't sell individual items, sell in groups and list "lot" in your listing (as people search by that keyword also).

Other things we look for: sporting equipment, toys, DVD's (we have bought lots of these), Disney stuff :earsboy:

:goodvibes Thanks guys! Since I did so well with finding the summer baby girl clothes at the yard sales, I think I will list those soon..seems I'm in a good window of time for those. Plus I am sure I could find some things of mine to sell.

What I wish is that I could find a HOT item to sell..something you could buy a bunch of and sell like hot cakes! That would be cool... :smooth:

Thanks again, all the suggestions are appreciated, keep them coming!

Toys, that have only been off the market for a short time, seem to sell well.
This isn't a quick method, and it has a risk.
Buy toys on clearance. Often these are not the same toys that will be on the market next year as companies change the toy lines often. Wait about a year, then sell them on eBay.
I am not one to pay very high prices, but I am willing to pay pretty close to (often above) original retail. Therefore it the buyer picked the item up on clearance, they are making a profit.
Sometimes, I want a toy, that I didn't want when it was originally marketed.
Other times, I just see something on eBay, that I never knew was marketed before I saw it on eBay.
I have my eye on some 1995 Small World Dolls right now, that I never saw before. (They are very cute and I am very tempted).

I was never a fan of toy scalping. However;
in the case where items that are a surplus in one market, are transferred to a market of higher demand, I think that value has been added.

I don't tend to buy clothing on eBay. It is just too hard to know how it will fit.
I buy fabric on eBay, often at about what it retailed.
I am certain that the sellers likely got the fabric on clearance at the end of its life, or at some fantastic sale.

The idea is to find items on sale, that will re-market well once the item is no longer available in the stores.

I am amazed at what people will pay for items on eBay.

One person sold a "haunted or possesed" stuffed Stitch for over $200.
It was just a little cheap stuffed stitch, not even the cooler interactive Stitch.
So I guess good marketing is a key. Every once in a while, some very creative listing, goes much higher then the same product would normally go for.
I once saw someone pay $79 for a Pal Mickey. I didn't see anything special about this Pal Mickey.
