Hi Guys,

Can anyone help me with this problem?

The thing is, We're flying to Orlando in 16 days time and i'm having MAJOR probs,
DH maybe can't come on holiday with us as he's stuck at sea (he's a fisherman) so that leaves DD and myself to go all alone!
We thought he would be finnished in time but the fishing has been very slow this year and his Skipper (big horrible boss man!)won't let him go as he's already had hols in Easter :(
Usually they're finished 31st Oct but, NO! not this year, when i really need him to be at home!

Anyway, what i need to know is does anyone know who is it best to contact about getting from Orlando int airport to All Stars, we'll only be there for one night and have to transfer to POR the next day, Does anyone know if Disney will transfer us and our luggage to the POR from AS?

When i know for definite if DH really can't come then my eldest DD will see if she can come with us, she didn't want to come in the first place as she had work commitments but rather than lose a lot of £££'s I would rather take her with us as we're going to have to let the car hire company know that we don't need the car now as i can't drive and it was booked through one of those auction things and we're going to loose money anyway:(

Sorry to have rambled on a bit but i'm really starting to panic now and my work mates just wouldn't understend like me old Dis mates!
Any info would be most welcome,
Thanx for listening,
Luv Audrey,

PS. i hope i've posted this on the right board, Apologies to the mods if i havn't X

Oh Audrey ! what a dilema. I hope it turns out well for you.

Haven't done shuttles and taxi stuff meself so no help there, just wanted to say hello, and 'there there' until someone sensible comes along.

I know Mears are well spoken of all over this board so that's one likely source of comfort and sollution. Course the Disney transport itself will take you from AS to POR, albeit by bus and via the TTC.

Hope you get yer DH home in time.

Audrey,

I'm so sorry to hear your're plans may not go as expected.I suppose if your DH's boss won't let him go and he's at sea there's not much can be done:mad:

I'm sorry I can't help with the transfer thing as I haven't styaed onsite before.

Good Luck I'll keep my fingers crossed:Pinkbounc

Mears run regular shuttles from the airport to the WDW resorts. Can't remember what they cost per person, but for 3 of you, I'm not sure that it would be that much more to stump up for a towncar. Trust me though when I say it's a 1000% nicer than getting the Mears shuttle - which is usually one of those vans and you might have to do the trips around the other resorts dropping people off. Nice big plush cars...air con, soft leather seats...ahhhhhh, wonderful when you've just got off a long flight and suffered immigration!

I use Tiffany's all the time and love 'em. If you email and ask, they will do a half hour grocery stop for you as well, which can actually save a few dollars - we always stock up on fizzy-pop, water and a few snacks there, rather than paying Disney prices. It's $85 return for the car, but you can print out a coupon from their website knocking off another $5. Though we always tip $5 each way to the driver on top...they always help carry the baggage and stuff at the airport, and are usually pretty friendly and chatty :) Check out http://tiffanytowncars.com/ I've used them 4 times now I think so am happy to recommend them.

Hopefully though things will all work out so hubby can come along and you'll have the hire car - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Disney will usually transfer you luggage between resorts, as getting from resort to resort can at times betime consuming I'd suggest getting packed up at the AS and dropping your bags, then going off to a park on Disney transport and use the resort bus back to your new resort when you've finished at that park.

If there are three of you the cost between Mears coach and a towncar isn't going to be much, I'd opt for the comfort and convenience of a towncar.

Oh! Yes...I forgot about the resort transfer part.

Yup to everything Vernon said. Disney will transfer your luggage - just call Bell Services. One thing to note...once your bags are in 'the system' you have to bide your time until they deliver them to your new resort, no matter how early you have them take your luggage, it might take half the day to get where they are going, so make sure you don't pack anything essential (like swimming cossies if you want an afternoon swim).

Just another option, if you don't want the inconvenience of hanging around for your luggage to arrive at POR, you could get a taxi from the All Stars to POR in the morning and if it's too early to check in, you could register and leave your luggage in the 'left luggage' dept until your room is ready. Then get the bus to the park and on your return to POR you know your luggage is ready and waiting for you.

About airport transfers - we have used Mears twice in the past as they were part of the package with Virgin Holidays and the service is fine. This year I have booked independently and have gone for the towncar option from Tiffany - I have heard very good reports about them.

BTW, if you are visiting Universal or any of the other parks, Tiffany can provide a service for those too, all the details and prices are on their website.

We have never hired a car for any of our trips and think using the Disney Transportation is all part of the fun!

I really hope your husband makes it, but if not, I'm sure you will still have a great trip! :D

Audrey :(

Sorry to here about your problem. Not much to add really, but I used Tiffany last month and they were great :)

Sorry to hear about your problems. Heres hoping that somehow your DH will make it,

We used Your Ride for our airport transfer recently.

Web site address is www.yourride.net

or click on the link on the DIS, as they are a featured site.

Look for the rabbit.

We were met at the airport by a very nice man holding a bright pink sign with our name on. Made us feel quite important He stood out just a little bit.

:D Thank you all soooo much for all the help and kind words.

Just to update, DH came home last night for one night and is going away again at 2pm this afternoon(he's havin a well deserved lye in at the mo, so i have a wee while to come on line):D

The word just now is that they may be finnished in 2 weeks, but this is not written in stone!(As per usual!) I'm keeping my fingers crossed but it's not looking good, (look on the bright side?...ME?... Never! hehe) Eldest DD can't get time off work to come with us, her boss isn't very understanding, but i do know they are very buisy at this time of the year:( What is it with people in power these days, have they no compassion?, it isn't as if the fishing industry will go under if my 16 year old DD doesn't fillet any fish for 15 days or me hubby isn't bobbing around in the sea for a week!

On a happier note, i think the town cars sound very nice and i don't care what they cost! i think DD(11) and i deserve a bit of luxury after all the hassle and at least we know we'll arrive in style even if we are all alone, See,..i'm not all doom and gloom and if i have to go alone i will......Honest:rolleyes:

Thanks again for listening to me moaning on,
Luv Audrey,
xxxxxxxxxxx

Fingers crossed for you Audrey - keep us posted.

Have to say those Tiffany Towncars do sound lovely.

Astrid :)
