Hi all...

I need your help!!! I have been trying to convince my family that a Disney wedding would be affordable without any luck! We live around 2 hours away but most guests will be coming from NY/NJ/CT... Since we got engaged, this is all I've wanted... I gave up having 11/11/11 because they said "it's too soon" but why should I have to give up everything???

Can you girls help??? The budget is around $15,000 and we were looking into getting married off site in the catholic church... Can you send budgets you've used? What is an approximate guest count that would work for that budget?

Feel free to PM me if that's easier... Just hoping someone out there can help me convince my stubborn Italian mother... It's much appreciated!!!

:) Maria

Did you look into going to the Wedding Open House thingy(it is so not called that)? Do a search for Disney Weddings and see when their next open house is. Or see if you can convince your mom to go to the Wedding Pavillion and look at it and make talk with someone. That might be more convincing than someone else's budget. I'm sure some other brides will be on here shortly with their budgets.

Good luck with your mom and here is some pixe dust for you:wizard:

You can call Disney Fairy Tale Wedding offices and get some preliminary information from them. I was able to get a packet of information for my Disneyland wedding that helped me figure out a budget and guest count before signing a contract. If it's what you really want, then you can make it work! Good luck! :thumbsup2

Your $15,000 budget is definitely reasonable for the wedding, but it sounds like your family might be more concerned with the travel costs to Florida/Disney? If it's that, you can mention that your guests get special discounts on hotel rooms and park hopper tickets. Living in NJ, I can tell you that airfare to Orlando usually costs me (on average) $250 round trip. You could also choose a date where airfare and Disney hotel rates are typically lower (so basically, no Spring Break or holiday weekends). We were considering November 2011, but decided we needed to give us (and our guests) more time to save. You could also get in touch with a travel agent who specializes in Disney and have your guests work with that person to get the best deal on their trip.

Hi! If you can manage to get in on having your wedding on 11.11.11, I just wanted to let you know that planning a wedding on 11.11.11 the minimum expenditure is 30,000.00 that day. Just something to think about if your max budget is 15,000. You may want to reconsider trying to fight for that date if you aren't willing to go higher than 15,000.00. :(

I don't mean to disappoint, but I just wanted to give you a heads up. You could see if anything has changed though, I was inquiring about this date late last year around Sep-Oct.

I really really really wanted to have a wedding on that day. They reason they said it was more expensive than their usual minimum expenditure for a Friday-Saturday wedding is because it a "quirky" date. Lots of people want to have those cool looking dates.

I would have done it, but I thought 30,000 was a bit more than I wanted to spend and I realized that a Saturday wedding is better for our out of town guests. Mine will be the following day, 11.12.11.

Good luck with everything! I hope you can get whatever your heart desires..hehe. If you don't mind keep me posted on what you end up doing. :)

Take care,
Kj

Disney recently reduced the minimum expenditure for Wishes events on 11/11/11 held at the outdoor ceremony locations at 9am, 10am, or noon to $11,000. :thumbsup2
