Firstly, I know if you stay on site you get the 180 + 10 option for booking. Does that only appply to the party on your hotel reservation, or if you are going to be part of a larger group can you book for everyone?

Secondly, if you book for more people than it turns out you have attending a particular meal, can you just reduce the number on the reservation? Or do you have to cancel it completely and try for a new one?

Finally, is there a limit on how many people you can make a single reservation for?

We're planning something of a family reunion at WDW in Feb 2012. Potentially, we could have as many as 17 at a meal, but it would be anywhere between the 4 of us and that total for meals through the trip. Currently, it's only certain that 5 people will be joining us, in a group of 3 the first week and a group of 2 the second, possibly with some overlap. (My parents are divorced, so likely not much overlap.) We probably won't be certain about most of the remaining people until after the 180 day point, since my 3 youngest sisters are all at uni and likely won't know their schedules so far in advance. Another sister's husband is planning to go back to school next year, and therefore is likely to face the same problem.

Staying on site you can book dining reservations at the 180+10 and it doesn't matter how many people it is for. However, that is a big difference in people. If you are reducing the number you should cancel and rebook the correct number. Personally, I would only plan for the people I know for sure are coming. Have the others try to find a reservation as closely to your reservation time as possible.

Good luck.

The plan was to book one show dinner each week and one character meal with evveryone who is there. I'm thinking of booking them in the middle of each week, so we'll have smaller numbers, if I can. I'm hoping for a few meals off site so those might be easier to do if we do have a lot of overlap and end up with 17 of us at one or more meals.

Thank you very much to all of you. There are lots of information about reservation, which is very much needed for me..:goodvibes

So let's say I book a reservation for 4 people, but last minute the other couple decides to cancel. Do they deny your reservation when you show up? The reason I ask is because I have noticed when booking ADRs that a table may not be available for a party of 2 but when you change the number to 4 a table magically appears. I assume this is Disney's way of filling up every seat...

You can book for however many guests you want. Above a certain number you are required to go through Group Dining. Since the OP is overseas, they may want to know that the largest party size that can be booked online is 14. You can't get there by leaving off infants either; infants count as party members for the purposes of restaurant reservations.

No. Subtracting people is usually not a problem. Adding people can be. But you may have to wait longer if your table size changes. Subtracting a LOT of people could be a problem but they probably won't turn you away if you have a reservation.
