Solution for Magnet Issue? Advice needed!

We have been on several Disney cruises in the past and have had mixed results with our magnets! I have always printed them at home on magnet paper and then cut the design out. However sometimes it seems like they stick perfectly and other times they curl up and don't even make it through the trip before they loose their ability to hold on. So frustrating since I spend hours creating the perfect designs for everyone and I would love to keep them for years to come (not to mention the magnet paper isn't cheap.)

We leave for our next cruise in a week and it will be our first time on Fantasy. Hoping to get some advise on what brand magnet paper to purchase OR what other suggestions folks have for making lasting color magnets.

I've had lots of success with round, disk-type magnets glued onto the designs. I have found them at the dollar store but lately have used the 40% off coupon at Michaels. Much cheaper than the magnetic paper. To help prevent curling or creasing from travel, I take my designs to Kinkos and laminate them before adding the magnets - again, not very expensive but really ensures a great look

I bought magnetic "tape" in a strip that you cut to whatever size you want. I reinforce it with a dab of craft glue (E6000) and mine have lasted for years. In 2011 I had them laminated before I added the magnet, and then last year I just sent them to be printed like a picture. Both worked out well! Good luck!

I've given up on the magnetic paper. It seems to get thinner and less magnetic every time I get some. I've done as PP do, print them on photo paper and glue magnets on the back. Less frustrating for me.

I did the exact same thing - printed and laminated and used the magnetic tape. They are still going strong from 2013.

The same thing happens to me every cruise. The funny thing is, the magnets stick just fine inside the stateroom but on the outside door they slide off after a couple of days. I wonder if it is not the humidity or something. It is really very strange. I end up using magnets (small round ones) to hold up my magnetic sheets.

I print my graphics and then laminate them. Then I use magnetic sheets, cut down to size on the back (these aren't printer sheets, just magnets with adhesive backing). I don't cover the whole thing, just cut squares for the corners, etc.

I used to use the roles of magnetic tape but stopped because the rolled shape was stronger than the adhesive so it kept pulling off the laminated graphic. The sheets work better for me since they are flat.

But even with that, some doors have more paint on them and you still need additional reinforcement. So I always bring some of the small round "super strong" magnets and put that in the corners of any that aren't sticking as well.

We print, laminate, then magnetize with the adhesive sheets, not the rolled up tape kind. Have not yet had any issues.

We found the same thing on our first Disney cruise and switched to printing on photo paper, laminating, and then putting magnets on. The issue is that the outside of the door has been painted many more times than the inside so that's why they stuck OK on the inside.

I usually make magnets for part of our FE gifts. I have found printing on normal paper and laminating then attaching the self-stick magnets to be the most durable. Some of the magnets for our doors from 2 years ago are still on our freezer. Hope this helps. Have a wonderful cruise

I also just use the magnetic roll with the sticky back. Heck, I have even used old refrigerator magnets that I cut up!!

On the Magic due to overpainting the Magnets I have are not sticking well and falling off.

In a video someone commented that the printable magnet material curls if there are a lot of cut out details. She said you are better sticking with things that have less details. I hope this helps.
