I am going on an awesome solo trip Sept. 30 - Oct. 2nd (Fri. - Sunday). I am sooo excited!! I will be there finally for the Food & Wine AND WDW 40th Anniversary. I have been going to WDW since 1974 and love it so very much. My kids can't miss school, so I am flying in Fri. morning and out Sunday night. I just decided to take a day off and GO. I need some time to myself, I'm a teacher and its been a stressful year already.
I will probably be doing the Halloween party Friday night (30th), so if anyone else is there and wants to hang out, let me know. I'll be at MK Sat. morning and then Sunday is Food and Wine day. I'm staying at Pop.

I'll be there Sept. 29-Oct. 3. I'm planning on being at MK on the 1st in the morning/afternoon, but I'm heading to Epcot sometime in the evening. One of my friends in running the F&W half marathon that night, so I'm going to the after party thing at Epcot with them. I have to go to EWWS at some point either friday or saturday & I'm thinking about seeing Fantasmic either the 30th or 2nd.

Bummer...I am there the week before (taking my mom). I am a stay at home mom (former teacher) and this is my little mental health getaway. I did a true solo trip last Feb. and it was fantastic:cool1:. You are going to come back refreshed and relaxed!!! Funny to think that DIsney can be relaxing but going solo it truly is. Everything is on your schedule and you can do what YOU want!!! This time I am just going to spend all my time meandering through the little nooks and crannies that I never get to do with my family!

Enjoy your trip!! You will have a wonderful time :wizard:

Will you talk to my family, including my dad??? They all think I'm weird for doing this, but I'm needing a mental health break oh so badly. My kids can't go because of school, my DH is a store manager at a retail store so he can't go on any vacation Oct-Jan. I've never seen the parks decorated for Christmas and I've always wanted to.

Everyone talks about how wonderful going solo is, I am really getting excited. And just like you, I want to take my time and discover things I have never noticed before. I don't need to be on a roller coaster ALL the time. Nooks and crannies. That's what I intend to do as well. And strolling. No rushing for Fast Passes. Doing exactly what I want to do and not worrying about anyone else.

I'll be down there that weekend as well.... although by the weekend the solo portion of my trip will have ended since I'm meeting up with several other DIS members. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Current plans have us at the MK as well on Saturday, and Sunday AM doing EPCOT, although sunday evening we'll be at the MK for MNSSHP.

You all get it. :thumbsup2 That's why I want to go solo, to take it all in, relax, enjoy the atmosphere and not rush around riding everything 10 times. Not that riding rides a lot isn't fun but I've done that quite a few times recently. (I know I'm very lucky).
Its been a very stressful start to the school year and I just want to get some time to breath and not worry about anything. Thankfully I have a family that understands and can handle me being gone for a few days. I'll have to keep my eye out for you guys Sat. morning at MK. I plan on doing Epcot Sunday morning/afternoon as well and then I have to head to the airport around 4:30.

Wow! We are very similar! I am also a teacher who SO needs a break (Special Ed emotional/behavior disorders) so I am taking a 3 day solo trip down to go to MNSSHP! I am leaving on 10/22 and flying back late 10/24! I am very excited! My family thinks I am nuts, but who cares! I am going to have a blast.

Can't wait to hear all about your trip!:cool1:

Disney_Jill: I'm doing a solo trip 9/30-10/3. I'm doing Epcot Friday night, MK all day/night on Saturday, Epcot on Sunday then shuttling over to MK for MNSSHP, and probably spending a couple hours at DHS Monday before I have to fly home. I'm also staying at the Pop. It's my first time staying there...do you have any recommendations on the best sections to request?

CaliforniaDreamin: I share your outlook. It's tough when other people, especially people that are important to you, don't understand why it interests you, and therefore sometimes don't think it should interest you, to go solo.

I am gonna do a solo day trip on Oct 1st. MK in the morning, and EPCOT in afternoon.

I just got my AP earlier this month and I figure why not!!??;)

I'm so happy my Dis friends understand. What would I do without you guys?? I'll be honest...if I didn't love WDW and DL and had never been, I would probably think it was a little weird, too. But you know what? I'm not one of those people!! :goodvibes

I haven't been this excited since we went to DL and this may be surpassing that. Just wondering around sounds like sheer heaven to me. Sitting on a bench and people watching (I love doing that). Grabbing a snack and relaxing. At this point, and I do feel guilty for feeling this way, I don't think I'm going to miss anyone enough to ruin my stay. I need the ME time so, so badly! I''m so glad we have this subforum!

I've stayed at Pop twice. I was in the 50s section one time, 3rd floor, not far from the parking lot (my only request since I have a car). It was pretty nice out there, very quiet. It was behind the giant Tramp statue. The other time we stayed in the 70s section behind the Big Wheel and it was fairly close to the main hall (the other side of the building was preferred) but it was really hard to find our room, like every time we came back. LOL It was some strange maze to get there.
So, I think if I had a choice, I would ask for the 50s section. I will also be at MK most of the day Sat., then going to DHS, then back to MK for Wishes at 9. I am soooo excited its not even funny! I have had a very stressful two weeks and this trip is one of the only things keeping me going. :cool1:

Thanks for the tip! I'll ask for the 50's, with anything close to the bus stop being my next choice. I really don't intend to do much at the resort besides sleep and maybe eat breakfast. But maybe once I remember what a humid 90° day feels like, I'll take advantage of one of the pools :3dglasses

I was also thinking about leaving MK on 10/1 during the mid afternoon. I'm a bit nervous that the park could reach capacity and they'd stop letting people in, and I wouldn't be able to get back in for the evening/nighttime. Is that a ridiculous thing to be concerned about? I've never been to the parks for an 'event' like the 40th.

And if you see a guy by himself with a black/orange/grey Adidas backpack, say hi!

Ok, in regards to Saturday, I spoke to a Cast Member while I was getting my new AP last Friday, and she said that she doesn't think the park will reach capacity on the 1st. (Which is good, because 10/01 is also MY birthday and my party will be hopping to ALL FOUR parks!) So I wouldn't worry about leaving and not being able to get back in - and even if that DOES happen, you can always watch the special fireworks from across the lake behind the Poly, or on the ferry boat dock.

Also, it looks like my party is going to hit the Poly at around 5 for drinks at the bar, so if anyone would like to join us, that would be fabulous! My profile picture is me, so look for the spiky blonde hair and birthday button and pin. I'm going to attempt to drink a whole Lapu-Lapu by myself (my friends don't think I can do it just because none of them ever have).

Either way, enjoy!

Just did my online check in! Its almost time! My students are pleased with the great mood I am in. I got my plans and am ready!! Its kind of nice not overplanning on how to ride all the rides since this isn't a ride-centric trip. I'm looking forward to the party and trying out some of that great food at the Food and Wine. :cool1:
AxJax, I will keep my eye out for you and your backpack. :thumbsup2

Hi there!
