One of my jobs is sending me to Garden Grove for a week of training. I've arranged to stay an extra night and am going to DL for a day and a half.

Never been solo, usually travel in a pack of at least 6 if not more folks.

I am certain I will enjoy the heck out of "my" time! I am hoping some here can give me advice on how to make the best use of my time, what are really fun things to do on my own. etc.

and third trip to my happy place in the last 9 months, dang should have purchased an annual pass!!!

I had a solo day a month ago, and it was honestly one of the most fun days of my life!

I usually go with my 3yo, so it was a very different experience when I went solo. It was a rainy Monday in May, so the crowds were much lower than what you will experience, but several rides have single rider lines.

You get to do whatever you want whenever you want, and talk to lots of nice strangers, and it's heaven!

I park-hopped and rode all the "big" rides at both parks at least once. I did get a Dream Fastpass in the morning which helped, but the lines that day weren't that long to begin with.

What was really fun for me was going on as many rides as I could first thing, and then going back to what I really enjoyed. I rode Screamin' twice and Space Mountain 3 times. I also liked roaming around and looking at things that I was always too distracted to notice.

I know you're going to have a great time!

I've taken quite a few solo visits. The fun thing is that you can do whatever you want to and don't have to acquiese to the wishes of others in your party. It's also really easy to find decent seats for parades, fireworks, Fantasmic without having to wait forever if you so desire.

Take advantage of single rider on Soarin', Screamin' and Splash Mountain if you like to do those rides. Wait times are considerably shorter than even fastpass lines.

In addition to those 3 rides, Grizzly River Run, Mulholland Madness and Maliboomer have SR lines. :thumbsup2

That's true, I forgot about those rides. I haven't ridden GRR in years on account of not wanting to be completely drenched, soaked, and wringing water out of my clothing for the rest of the week. I usually skip Mulholland because it's a very tight fit for my tall frame, and Maliboomer is meh to me.

Well obviously you've been able to go a few times now...so you'll probably keep going...might as well get the AP now. :goodvibes

Besides the single rider lines and being able to zip through crowds b/c you don't have to worry about losing people, another cool aspect of going alone is the shows. I doubt we would ever have seen the 50 Years of Disneyland movie, if I hadn't seen it on my solo trip. I saw it, enjoyed it, and was able to convince my family to come in to see it, too.

I took a bunch of pictures, I sat on benches, I bought more iced lattes than I've ever bought at Disneyland before (b/c I could wait in line without anyone complaining, and b/c it wouldn't suddenly become a huge order with drinks, water, and snacks for 3 people), I people-watched, and I talked with CMs. I rode one of the vehicles on Main Street, and they were so amazed that I was going alone, but they were really positive about it. Made me feel really good about my hubby, since he had to take a day off to watch our son so I could go by myself (it was a vacation for me from the family vacation the month before, LOL).

Fun fun fun!

Now I'll say that I was single for a long time, and I traveled by myself throughout my 20s, and I've always been something of a quiet person who enjoys time alone, so the solo trip was not out of my "norm". It was going BACK to my norm, actually. Others who haven't had the time on their own might not have as easy a time as I did, but I think they can still have a grand time. :goodvibes
