Solo Trip-Likely to get on rides without FP

I may take a solo trip to WDW in June or August. It would be short notice which would mean I wouldn't have the 60 days FP planning. I don't like thrill rides. I'm specifically thinking the Frozen ride and Soarin. Do you think I'd be able to get on these without standing in line for hours? Thx!

Can you get to the parks for rope drop? Soarin' (Epcot) is easily done at rope drop. In fact, you can get off the ride & get back into stand-by for a second ride without a big line. Plan on getting through security by at least 8:20am for a 9am opening. So be prepared to actually be standing at the gate waiting for it to open 40 mins before. Bump that up an hour for an 8am opening. Frozen is more painful at rope drop because of the mad rush. It's doable but not so civilized. Also bear in mind that Frozen frequently breaks down leaving unhappy guests. If at all possible, get those FPs esp for Frozen, the new FOP (Flight of Passage) at Pandora/Animal Kingdom & 7DMT at MK.

We just got back and were able to go on both with a 20 and 30 minute wait during extra magic hours. ALso was able to make tons of fast passes from my phone for the trip after the initial 3 while we were in the park. None for frozen but we did get a soarin once.

Hours? No you'll be on quicker than hours..but you'll still have a good wait without a fast pass and if you're not there right at rope drop.

Frozen quickly builds to usually about 50-90 min within a few minutes of Epcot being open. And Soarin has its 3rd theater now, but it usually still has a steady wait of close to an hour daily.

Also, you don't need to book fast passes at 60 days out. If you can even book 7 days or more out, you'll be fine. We book usually 20-30 days out and usually get everything we want.

As far as going solo..it doesn't make a difference if you're going solo or with a group of 3 other people. If Frozen has a wait of 60 min, you'll still be in line 60 min whether you're by yourself or not. The only rides with single rider are RnR, EE, TT, and the new Pandora ride FoP

Perks of going solo is that it's much easier to find passes for a party of 1 than it is 4, especially day of.

A few minutes of refreshing inventory never fails to get me any attraction I want, and a few extra will get me in the correct time slot if I wasn't already.

Yes; you should be able to ride and find last minute FPs. During lunch today, we decided to go into Epcot after our 1:00 Poly lunch. I was able to book Soarin' for 3:00 and there were other slots available.

Then, we decided to look for something other than Soarin' and when I went to Modify it, FEA showed up. We then had FPs for FEA; we walked to Norway for a ride that was down for our FP window! Now we have an Anytime FP and are no longer in the park.

I booked FPs for MK this morning but ended up not needing them because rides were a walk-on between 9:00-10:30. I canceled them and rebooked as above.

You still need to wait in the regular line. But as you get close to the load area you may be able to jump ahead of a few people if the CM are looking for a singe rider to fill a particular ride unit.

Plus, as a solo, you get to determine whether that standby line is worth your time. Sometimes with other people, the collective opinion may be to skip a line with an expected wait time of an hour. But if you're there solo, and you don't mind the wait, you can do it. I agree that it can be easier to find random FP+ for one person than for more. But it can still be difficult to get a few of them. Personally, if you can't get Frozen as a FP, I would get Soarin (I've never had an issue getting a solo FP for Soarin even the night before) and then hit Frozen first thing at rope drop. You'll still have a wait, but not as bad as it can be later. Or, you can try Frozen last thing before park closure, if you don't mind missing Illuminations (and if it hasn't broken down). I change around a lot of FP+ the day before, and sometimes the day of if it's early in the day, and since I'm not a thrill ride fan either, I don't usually have much trouble getting what I want.

If you want to do the new Pandora rides, I would recommend getting FP for those if possible. If you are only doing AK one day, you'll have to pick one or the other, but FoP does have a single rider line, which may help you out.
