Hi everyone, I'm doing a solo trip later this summer. I'll be staying at OKW. I was looking for any feedback on "things to do". I am strongly considering the Keys to the Kingdom Tour at the MK. Has anyone done this tour before and what do you think? Do I have to book it in advance, like from home through MS? I always, I am open to any and all feedback and additional ideas. Thanks in advance.:goodvibes

You need to book Keys to the Kingdom through them, not through DVC. If you have a Disney VISA, you can get a better discount for the tour than with the DVC discount. We enjoyed this tour, but be prepared to walk.

You might also want to try the Backstage Safari tour. That tour took us throught the vet hospital, the kitchens where they prepare the meals for the animals, and backstage of the hippos.

Thanks Deb and Bill. :goodvibes

DH and I really enjoyed the Keys to the Kingdom tour. We learned a lot of cool random facts and we loved our tour guide (Mark). We booked in advance because I wanted the first tour of the day (8:30am).

The new tour at Animal Kingdom sounds awesome as well. I think its got the word "Trek" in the name.

I think the ak one is the wild africa trek that sounds cool but I wouldn't do it if you're afraid of heights since you walk on rope bridges. I personally would do the EPCOT Segway tour. We have a 1 yr old now so it will be years before we get to do any tours unless we spilt up. I would also be taking advantage of the opt to tour the way i'd like to tour- rope drop and go go go all day! :thumbsup2

We did Keys to the Kingdom a few years ago and loved it.....I just did a solo trip this past January....actually spent two of the days with my son who was doing the College Program at the time.....but, the remaining three I was on my own.....and I absolutely loved it.....one day I just hung out by the pool at SSR for the afternoon and did some reading and the other two I spent at AK and Epcot/World Showcase just wandering. I have not done the Segway tour, but, my son did during his five months working as a CP castmember....actually I think twice...once with another CP'er and once when his girlfriend came to visit for a few days. He said he enjoyed that more than the Keys to the Kingdom......but, KTTK is really a lot of fun also......I think a lot depends on your guide.....ours was great. I would like to try the one at AK sometime......NOT the new one with the swinging rope bridge, but, the one Deb talked about......I did see some people walking by while on the new tour the day I spent at AK and I think I would be very apprehensive to have to wear harnesses.

Although I haven't done that tour solo, I have done several others solo and enjoyed them. I did Backstage Safari, Wild by Design, Segway Tour at Epcot, Behind the Seeds (way back when that tour was free), Wishes Dessert Party, and Wanyama Safari at AKV. Wild by Design was the only one I hadn't booked from home (besides Behind the Seeds). That one I booked from WDW a few days beforehand.

Within the past week I just did Behind the Seeds tour and Keys to the Kingdom tour solo. I enjoyed both of them. I did book Keys to the Kingdom ahead of time. I had great guides for both tours. The Keys guide had us standing in the hot sun several times. I probably should have suggested that he point out whatever needed to be seen and then have us move to shade to give details. But I didn't want to seem pushy.
Walking World Showcase as a solo is great because DH and I like different things there. It is nice to not have to have someone waiting for you.

I did Dolphins in Depth this past Feb. solo. As luck would have it, no one else was signed up for it either so I had the whole aquariuam to myself (Well and with the trainers of course!;)). It was one of the best experiences I have ever had!!!!

Non park related....If you haven't seen La Nouba yet that's a great show to see, it was one of my favorite things I did on the first of my solo trips. I also like to book a spa treatment or two at SSR. Both are easy to access from the boat at OKW, it used to go to SSR directly, but I believe that now you have to transfer at DTD. The Gurgling Suitcase at OKW is great to hang out as well, the bartenders are awesome and the drinks go down easy too. :drinking1
