Hi all,

I'm starting to plan a 2015 solo trip to Disneyland next summer, however I have no idea how many days to plan to actually spend there.
I'll be coming from the UK so want to make sure the time spent is worth the flights and costs.

Would a ten day trip be too much? Is there much else to see/do in the Anaheim region or should I consider a split stay between Anaheim and LA?

A 10 day trip might be too long or too short depending on what you want to do. However, 10 days JUST in Anaheim is definitely too long (imo). Are you a WDW vet? DLR is nothing like WDW when it comes to a vacation resort. I'd say 4-5 days in the summer would be the average amount of time you need (during the high season) to do "everything" at the DLR. Maybe even 3-4 since you're going solo (and you're able go on the single rider lines). A lot of people who travel to DLR looking for a long vacation do other things like San Diego Zoo, Hollywood, Universal, beaches.

For solo and Anaheim, I'd say 5 days is probably too long. If you put LA on top of it, or travel up the coast seeing everything in between SF and LA, and some of the parks N. of SF, then yes, 10 days is perfect.

I disagree. I think you need at least 2 days in each park, and especially with flying from the UK, I'm sure the OP will need some time to adjust to the time change. I've done 3 solo trips to DL, and the last time I did it I bought an annual pass because that was the only way to get the 6 days I wanted for the 2 parks. (I also did one day at KBF.)

Going solo is SOOOO much easier to see/do everything than with a family. We do 5 days for a family trip.

We've even done all the big rides (in both parks) in 1.5 days lol (but this was of course off-season). At the end of the second day it was like 2pm we were like "what do we do now?"

I will be going on my 3rd DL solo trip next May for 7 nights and 6.5 days, and I can tell that is not nearly long enough. I will be spending 4.5 days in Disneyland with a park hopper pass, one day at Universal Hollywood, and one day at Huntington Beach. Ideally, I would like to have at least ten days so I could have time more time to visit the San Diego Zoo, Knotts Berry Farm, and Downtown L.A. It would also be great to have a down-time day to enjoy the amenities at the hotel and shop in local Anahiem. :thumbsup2

I'm doing a solo trip in October and I'm doing a 5 day park hopper. I have a few tours I want to do, so those will take up almost a whole day, leaving me roughly 2 days in each park. I am planning to take my time, seeing all of the little things I usually miss when I'm with other people. I will update when I get back about whether 5 days is an appropriate amount of time.

I think 10 days is too much just for the Anaheim area, it depends how much time you want to spend in each park. I've never done a solo trip (would love to someday!) For me I'd split my time between Anaheim and the LA/Hollywood areas. There are a few studio tours in Hollywood to do, and the ultimate would be the Universal Studios VIP Tour it looks so great although it's pricey it gets great reviews I'm hoping to be able to talk DH into it for Oct! Enjoy your trip!

Ive never done a solo trip but I would suggest 5 days in Anaheim. Travel day, arrive and relax ect...then 4 days at the parks. After that I would recommend a visit to San Diego to see the zoo, Sea World and the beaches. Id say 2 or three day depending on if you are interested in what I mentioned above. I would spend the remaining days in LA. Of course not necessarily in that order. Plan an order that works best for your traveling.
I think no matter what you pick you'll have a great time! Southern California has lots to offer!

I forgot to mention that the SoCal Citypass might be worth your while.

From their website:
Southern California CityPASS is the only multi-park pass that includes the 3-Day Park Hopper Ticket with Magic Morning for Disneyland® and Disney California Adventure®.

Also includes one-day admission to both Universal Studios Hollywood and SeaWorld San Diego. Add one day at San Diego Zoo/Safari Park and/or LEGOLAND® California to your CityPASS, exclusively on citypass.com.

I read that you can also add days to the Disneyland portion of the ticket at the ticket booths.

We used this when our family members visited California for the first time, we skipped Sea World and it was still worth it.

Hey There,

I think 10 days total for a trip is great but agree you may want to see some attractions outside of Anahiem. You can take day trips to all the other major attractions if you wanted to base yourself around disney.

I would recommend , Universal Studios, San Diego Zoo, San Diego sightseeing day, Day trip to Hollywood.
