Solo trip - dining questions

I will be traveling to the world in late June for a conference and I am looking for solo dining recommendations. I am no stranger to business travel and dining alone (usually with a book), but I am expecting that WDW will be very busy this time of year with limited options/availability for TS dining. I am not using DDP, nor am I planning on making ADRs.

Are there many restaurants that have bars that serve off the menus at WDW? Do solo diners have better chances as walk-ins for getting last minute seating? I will be at WDW for 4 nights and want to have at least 2 nice sit down meals.

In May 2006, I was a week at WDW as a "solo". I hadn't made any ADRs. What I did was going to guest relations first thing in the morning, and asked if they had a table for 1 at that or that restaurant. I almost always got what I wanted at the time that I wanted (I always asked for the latest lunch seating... lunch is cheaper than dinner and it was a very last-minute, very unbudgetted for trip, lol!)

At the MK, I tried to eat at the Plaza as a walk-up, but couldn't get in (got an ADR for a later day though)

If I were you, I'd go this way: go to guest relations and see what you can get. I think in the morning you should more or less know in what park you will be or at what part of WDW (for hotel restaurants) you'd like to go.

Thanks for the advice. I will certainly make use of Guest Relations once I have a better idea of my touring plans.

Because restaurants are so busy these days, it seems that more and more people are planning their touring around what ADRs they can get. I am hopeful that I can get in to at least a couple of places as a walkin or with same day ADRs. Then I can plan my limited touring time more strategically.

Does anyone know if there are TS restaurants with bar areas that serve off the main restaurant menus?

50s Prime Time Cafe will serve the same food at the bar.
