I probably wouldn't spend the money going with spouse (maybe spouse in the future, but he's lacto-ovo vegetarian and I don't see it being worth it for him)or family or freinds, but I'm doing my first solo trip in December this year. I'll be there for a week. The cost of one deluxe plan wouldn't be that bad and I could try the signature restaurants which I only have done a few of them in the past. I would like that experience, but I don't need to do it. I'm a basic, simple type person and food to me is food, more or less. Back home, going to Applebee's is considered high class. I like everything Disney and I'm thinking if I'm ever going to try the better dinner places then going solo would be the cheapest proposition for it. I'm having mixed feelings, here.

I'm having an issue being alone for all these meals. My plan was to do counter service, food court, and a few table service meals (at group settings like Biergarten and/or Teppan Edo); so, I can see the Candlelight Processional. I would be fine with this eating arrangement. I feel it affords more time doing the parks. Sit down meals do take a lot longer to do.

If you were me, would you do the deluxe plan knowing all the above?

You've got good timing!:rotfl: I'm leaving this Saturday and will be at WDW May 3rd-10th on the DxDDP. Once I read that AP holders could now purchase the DDP and still keep the AP room discounts, I jumped on it. A big part of my WDW trips is the food. I've been to the parks enough time that I don't mind spending the time eating at TS restaurants. Like you, I've been wanting to try all the Signature Restaurants and the DxDDP will allow me to do that much cheaper than paying OOP. I may not eat them all, but I love the appetizers, as well as the entrees and desserts. I'm eating at a Signature restaurant every night next week and can not wait. I'm staying at POFQ and I'll be using my 2 snacks a day for beignets, pastries at Main Street Bakery, La Kringla bakeri, and the French bakery. I'm sure I'll have alot of snack credits left over, but will be using them my last day at Goofy's Candy Factory to bring stuff home. I'm dining at:

L Planet Hollywood
D Flying Fish
L Tutto Italia
D Yachtsman
L Rose & Crown
D Citricos
L Whispering Canyon Cafe
D California Grill
L Tony's
D Jiko
L Tokyo Dining
D Artist Point
L Yak & Yeti
D Narcoosee
L Le Cellier

We're going in October and I just don't think we could eat enough to make it pay off. We usually share one meal and a dessert. I think we're just going 'a la carte' as usual.

I'm booking this for my trip next year, as I like to eat at signature restaurants it's going to be perfect, plus I've got the flexibility of either CS or 1TS for lunch as well, not to mention the appetisers which I prefer to a desert.

I'm so looking forward to hearing what you guys think as you're both eating at restaurants I'm going to book next year :)

I can't even handle the food on the regular DDP! *LOL*

Definitely not a candidate for DxDDP! :)

Definitely think you should try everything once though! :thumbsup2 Have a great time!:dancer:

I used to feel self conscious about eating alone sometimes, but not anymore. Why should we have to be eating with another person in order to enjoy food? My next two trips are with family, (w/Dsis next week, and w/Ddad and Dsis in Sept) but I am also planning two short solo trips in October/Nov for Food and Wine, and in late Nov/Dec for the Holidays. I actually can't wait for the solo trips so I can go where I want, on my schedule, and enjoy some great meals where I want instead of where two or three ppl can agree on, lol. I will be doing the DxDDP on at least one of the solo trips so that I can enjoy more TS.

Maybe if we are there at the same time in December we can meet up for a meal! :cheer2:

I'm very interested to hear how all of you guys make out with the DxDP. I have 3 trips this year (1 solo - 12 days, 2 with friends/family - 6 days each) and when I did the math, it was cheaper for me to buy a DDE card. However, I did my calulcations for the regular dining plan.

Loved your Thanksgiving trip report so I can't wait to hear about this one. I had originally booked my trip in October with the DxDDP but then after seeing the potential offerings during food and wine, especially party of the senses, it made more sense for me to remove the plan and go ala carte. I still have many ADRs but if I start feeling a bit overfed, I can always cancel. Have fun.

I haven't done the deluxe DDP as a solo. I find the regular DDP to be a great option for a solo especially over a week as the fast food option becomes old quick and having a wonderful TS at LeCellier, etc are wonderful on a nightly basis. Don't feel bad about eating alone; Everyone has to eat. I brought a small diary with me and when I would be seated for my daily TS I would recap my day in it including all of the wonderful meals. Two years ago I became ill and was hospitalized for some time and honestly I went back and read over some of my diary entries for past disney stays and it would give me enough hope to get through the rough patches and think about planning those future trips. You may be surprised to read something you wrote years ago and the feelings it brings back, anyway when your writing you won't really notice that your alone. Go have fun and if you choose the deluxe package enjoy it to the max and write it all down then you'll have an accurate record to report back to us on your experience.

Hi, Aubrie,

I am going solo next week - arriving as you leave May 10 and going DXDP to the POR - am also from Texas and a big foodie! I wondered who had snapped up all my favorite ADPS!:rotfl:

I am going to be eating at a couple of places with other dissers that I wouldn't usually choose (OHanas and Spoodles) but am excited about the rest. Here is where I will be next week:

Boatwrights for breakfast, Flying Fish for dinner
Rose and Crown Fish and Chips lunch and O'Hana dinner
Tusker House lunch and Fulton's dinner
CP breakfast, Harbour HOuse Lunch and Citricos dinner
Biergarten lunch and Chefs de France dinner
Boma's Breakfast and Narcoossees dinner before P and P Party :dance3:

We're going in October and I just don't think we could eat enough to make it pay off. We usually share one meal and a dessert. I think we're just going 'a la carte' as usual.

My Dh and I did that too and by sharing we were able to bank more TS credits to use at signature restaurants that take 2. I'm an extremely light eater to begin with and rarely eat 1/2 what they bring me anyway so it worked out pretty good. We may do that again this year too.

The good thing about being on your own for a meal is you can go where you want, when you want. It's easier to seat a party of 1 than a party of 4 or 5 and your schedule is more flexible to take what reservations they have available. We found it pretty easy to change reservations last minute on a couple because it was just the 2 of us and we didn't mind eating at odd times. If you don't mind solo dining I say live it up! When else do you get to be the one who ALWAYS picks where you eat? :)

i'm home! i switched up my restaurants a bit while i was there, i got into CRT for lunch as a walk in at 12:30!!!! had an amazing time, and i'll start my trippie and link to it soon!

I went solo and did the deluxe plan last month. I am a foodie and love the signature restaurants. That said I won't do it again. Although it was prepaid and the money didn't make that much of a difference to me I am also a planner. As a planner I wanted to be sure I made the best use of the plan and plain drove myself crazy trying to eat expensively. I ate TS when I would have preferred fish and chips or a Casey's hot dog for lunch. I worried about breakfasts and credits. Nope. As a solo, dinner without a tip and without liquor just isn't that much. It might cost me a little more next time to go with the regular plan, but I don't go to WDW to worry about not spending enough! In Sept I go back and have free dining with my dgd - and I think it will be much nicer than with the deluxe - for me.

Just checking your post to be sure you weren't thinking about doing it again--I think you told me to hit you over the head or something if you considered it :lmao:
